Question/Discussion Beats 1
What's the best source for downloading the Beats 1 episodes that are exclusive to Apple Music?
Episodes 1-9 and 25-36
I have a few download sources but they have pretty severe frequency cutoffs and looks like they've been compressed to hell and then reencoded, unlike my EPIC Radio downloads that I pulled straight from Podtoo. My sources are a google drive, a mega drive, and soundclound

I have recorded all of them long time ago myself and encoded to mp3 using LAME 320kBit constant bitrate. Pretty decent quality.

what software did you use to record?

Audacity for macOS with my iPhone switched to the digital recording source in midi settings

you got a guide for that? I'm assuming you're playing from your iPhone and recording in Audacity. I have a macbook so no audio input, only output

Connect your iPhone to your MacBook using a USB-C to USB-C cable. Make sure to allow the connection if prompted.
Enable your iPhone as an audio input - open Audio MIDI Setup - a built-in macOS utility. You should see your iPhone listed in the left sidebar. Look for the small Enable button next to it and click it. This allows your Mac to capture audio directly from your iPhone.
Launch Audacity and navigate to Audio Setup → Audio Settings. Configure the following:
- Recording Device: Your iPhone
- Recording Channels: 2 (Stereo)
- Sample Rate: 48,000 Hz
- Sample Format: 24-bit
I personally use 48 kHz / 24-bit, which is arguably overkill for most purposes. You can comfortably stick with 44.1 kHz, which is perfectly fine for music recording.
- Hit the Record button in Audacity, then play whatever audio you want on your iPhone. Audacity will capture the audio directly in real time.
A couple of useful tips: Before recording, I strongly recommend disabling Bluetooth on your iPhone to prevent audio from being routed to wireless headphones or speakers. Also, enable Do Not Disturb (DND) mode to avoid interruptions from incoming calls, messages, or app notifications.

okay I may have figured out another way, but this is way better and good to know. so this keeps the audio as a digital signal all the way through?

so I did a little more digging and found tool a called "blackhole." you set blackhole as your output device in Audio MIDI setup, then set it as your input on Audacity. Digital to digital, no phone required.
I kept digging was because without blackhole, it's impossible to adjust the input level going into Audacity, and my audio was clipping pretty badly. I still haven't figured out how to go from iPhone to blackhole to Audacity while adjusting levels, but I'm working on it

that is so cool. it's working beautifully right now, and while I definitely believe you that the quality won't be anything special, it'll be nice to see for myself and actually be the one to make the files. my EP25 file has like random, really quiet voiceovers in it lol

I figured it out in a little different way. My desktop has line-in on the soundcard. Thanks for the inspiration
