How to cope with... It all
Im sorry if this is not the right place to post, and ill take it elsewhere if you want... But tonight, i just needed to express my feelings.
What i see online is completely out of control. This stuff is not normal anymore, and im scared. I am into fashion and acting. Every time I look up one of my favourite actors on Instagram, the comments are full of pictures of SS officers, Nazi glorification, calls for violence and vile shit about Jews, gay people and other minorities. It's not even on political posts. It's under pictures of people being happy.
The sheer number of likes is disturbing. They even outdo the likes on the original post.
Its not any better on youtube. It repeatedly tries to show me similar stuff in the reccomendations, desperately trying to push it. Its always the third video from the top on the right.
It is stuff that, just very few years ago, would get you permanent device ID bans and such. I think nobody is reacting appropriately, even us on here and organizations working towards the same goal. This stuff has gone seriously mainstream.
Ive even seen it IRL now. All the same talking points, middle aged professional people with high income and education ranting all the old conspiracies at me. It seems like a fever dream to have a 45 year old car salesperson talking to you in 4chan lingo.
Im not panicking or anything, but im getting a really really bad feeling these days. And everyone appears to be utterly shellshocked, just like me.
