I've been playing a lot of space marines and orks lately, certainly because people are anxious to play their new codexes.
It's kind of insane how much advance and charge space marines and orks have. The orks riled up thing is kind of a more interesting, less powerful waaagh, but since they can rule up as many units as they have war bosses it kind of just feels like they have advance, shoot, charge, and 5++ all game long.
I'm also not crazy about space marines and the default captain ability being to allow a unit to pick the same, often advance and charge turn after turn.
Like our army mechanic is advance, shoot, and charge, but it has a draw back. The draw back to space marines and orks access to advance and charge is like... only the half of their army that wants to advance and charge gets to be able to do it? It's just really weird, advance and charge is such a powerful ability that I kind of felt like emporers children was like this weak and narrow codex. We have basically no shooting, we have no damage sponges, we have no cultists, we struggle with high toughness units. But now normal space marines with the widest and deepest codex ever can slap a captain on 10 terminators and they just get to advance and charge with their crazy ass AP ability across the whole board. Like im out here getting charged by riled up grots who are the secondary charge to a unit of boyz who are going to kill my infractors, but the grots are just taking the opportunity to alley oop on to the objective on the orks kind of 2nd waaagh turn where they pop makari abd riled uo 3 or 4 extra units. Its insane. I was under the impression we sacrificed so much so we could gain our maneuvering, but not it just feels like were playing objectively worse units with similar maneuvering.
