Hey all, I'm Sam Bogits, the artist behind this painting!

I see my work has found its way onto this sub already and I'm glad people like it! I have plenty more including Word Bearers, Sister Repentia, and Imperial Fists on my Instagram if anyone is interested.

Since people seem to enjoy this art I thought I would create a post to provide a little more information about it and my process. This was a passion piece fueled by my love of the Emperor's Children and Fulgrim himself.

I created this while reading the Siege of Terra for the first time, specifically Saturnine and Mortis. I was struck by the descriptions of the 3rd Legion and how much they differed from much of the art and minis I have seen around. The garish splashes of random color, hues so bright they hurt the eyes, materials that make the mind reel, and the utter debauchery of the marines themselves. I decided to make something that captured these descriptions as best I could.

I started off just drawing a bunch of EC marines and arranged them in a composition, but the most interesting part was the color. I used a random color shifting brush under a black and white value layer to start the painting. That way when I finished the initial block out and turned the black and white back off, I was left with an insane and random color scheme for me to play with and adjust.

I really loved playing up all the spikes and teeth and eyes, the living armor, self mutilation, and Fulgrim himself was probably one of my absolute favorite things I have ever painted. I based him heavily on his official model, but I decided he would look a lot scarier with his long stringy hair hanging loose over his horns and face.

I created custom body armor of my own invention for him based on a mix of 30k models, 40k models, real samurai armor, and his original 1992 mini, seen below. I ended up making him in part a resurrection of his first design, with the same shoulder pad and weapons as well as black leather armor pieces. I also revamped his original weapon set, giving him back him living snake whip along with a blue power sword, a shiny scimitar, and a flaming golden demon blade.

For the Daemonette I also wanted to do my own take. I thought it would be cool to have her running around with some huge ostentatious demon machine grafted to her arm, injecting people with the Emperor's Children's famous drug juice. I looked at many different designs for her inspiration and ended up with a mix of the new models and the ones from the 90's. The marines them selves are based heavily upon the current range of models with a lot of mixing and matching of details and personal flavor.

What do you guys think a new army rule for emperors children should be?

11th edition space marines/Orks can now really utilize advance and charge / fall back and shoot. So it feels like Emperors children’s thunder has been stolen. Even with certain clauses and limitations, it feels like they can do what Emperors children do but more easily.

I’m a world eaters player but also an Emperor’s children fan and I wanna hear what you guys, the real emperors children fans/players think would be an effective and thematic new army rule should be?

I've tried 2 different schemes:

1 with naggaroth night as a base, conclusion is that the coverage is completely terrible and requires 3 layers at which point it just looks terrible and extremely dark

I also tried following the purple scheme in this video here, but when I applied the genestealer purple that required 1 coat for complete coverage for this guy, I had to put on 3 for not even full coverage, just for it to look way too bright and not anything like the one in the video

does anyone have any paint suggestions?

Holding the head of the high marshal he uses to taunt Barengar, along with the black Templar trophy attached to his belt and ofc the black blade. Head is the Flawless blade head, and the Icon is from the deamonettes box. What do you make of him?

I just had this idea and I wanted to ask you guys if (with a lot of kitbashing) i could turn either deathshroud into flawless blades or blightlord into a regular terminator squad

I've got the scheme down, but I need it to be really striking, and clean too, any advice or criticism is greatly appreciated. I really want to stand a good chance at winning some competitions with this model when it's finished!

So I want to make my emperors children army really varied. I have the existing sorcerer model, but aside from the sorcerer in terminator armour model, what other sorcerers are out there that would fit the theme?

Open to anything GW or 3d printed. I am just wanting a lot of variety!

Clearly the finest sorcerer you pathetic wrenches have ever witnessed! Flawless in every way! Now bow before his superiority, and grovel before he turns you into warpmush!

Jokes aside, I'd love to see your interpritations on the sorcerer! I am pretty proud of how this one came out, particularly the cloak design, finally figured out a good Iridescent recipe. Now to keep it to myself hehe 😉

P.S. Not got a good name for him yet so love to hear your suggestions. Currently going with 'Warpmaster Theodin'

Wanted to paint a loyalist EC this week before I start work on my minis.

Forgot to take closeups here, but this is my first fully painted and based army. Lot to work on still for them to be perfect, but they will do for the tournament. I'm so pround of them.

So much trim!!! Got it ready the other day with my WDP when I had the airbrush out and finished it off yesterday.

A couple more touch ups needed but I was able to fix it to the base at this point and play it.

Hello fellow perfectionists. A small announcement that I may have given into madness and am now working on a daemon prince for each of the Six Circles of Slaanesh.

My previous work already includes two princes, allowing me to cover the second and fourth circles. This leaves me with four others to complete yet, including this one. It will take some time. Luckily, I should have all the parts I need by now.

First off, a preview for Avidity. The model took quite a lot of green stuff, which I'm not super experienced with, so I hope the painted version will come out natural once all the remaining gaps are taken care of. Wish me luck 🫡
