Working through season 7 for the first time.
In S7E9, they introduce the Ghost of Brooklyn, a serial killer whose DNA was found many seemingly random places. I didn't realize until the reveal that it was directly inspired by the Phantom of Heilbronn, which I coincidentally read about yesterday!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phantom_of_Heilbronn
Both Elementary's Ghost of Brooklyn and the real-life Phantom of Heilbronn were actually employees at the factory that made the cotton swabs used to collect DNA samples, hence why their DNA was at many different crime scenes.

Why do you look like my mother?
Iโm the part of you that wants to get better.
These last few episodes of the season move pretty quickly once Tyus Wilcox is introduced, and while you see Sherlock struggle with a woman who just seems to be intruding. You see him sleep for the first time and his test with the boxes but itโs all just background noise to bringing down SBK and stopping a gang war.
Its really clever how the writers turned that background noise into an impressive end of season cliffhanger! Tyus Wilcox is going to be solitary for life but Sherlock is brain damaged!

For me it was Kitty Winter. I assumed the show made her up, then found out she's straight out of The Adventure of the Illustrious Client. So is Gruner, and so is Shinwell Johnson, who's Holmes's informant in that story. One short story gave the show three characters.
Mycroft's restaurant chain being called Diogenes, on the other hand, I got right away.
What did you only catch later, or only after reading the stories?

I hope this show is one of those show that people eventually realize is peak years after itโs finished

The opener with the shooting in the arcadeโฆ did anyone else but me see the movie it was referencing? The title is escaping me but I swear I got Dรฉjร vu. It was a contemporary B flic. LOTS of violence (I almost walked out of the theatre except the artistry was great)

From S02/E03-"We Are Everyone"/21:24(ish).
Observe in the top left / at 10 oclock some obliquely seen words, which upon closer inspection sayz - โWe are of different opinions at different hours, but we always may be said to be at heart on the side of truth.โ - Ralph Waldo Emerson.
(This quote is carved as letters large into the facade across from the 'Hunna' (aka Hunter) College Assembly Hall, which is StreetViewable, reading between the leaves, on the north side of East 68th St, betwixt Park & Lex, 'Isle of Joy' [Edited- as not south side (in shadow) of, nor E 69th St. Doh!]).
One could say such a 'factual journey' provides context for the bulk of interactions in E, as well as that episode in particular. Not just with LEOing, but even in the evolving dynamic of 'Skinny Sean' & Joanie.
Emerson, of whom I previously knew no more than his name & approximate time/space, seems to have a quite lot in common with our fella. Of course, this could all be entirely serendipitous... & there's no shortage of that in the series!
I wonder if He of The Brownstone too has a middle name...
For those in antipodean .au, ie for realz or ViPNaly, Aunty iView has recently dropped all 7, which is a vast improvement on drip feeding out episodes following their quad-weekly broadcast on Entertains only expire in 2. Although, this might enable an addiction...
& BTW, does anyone else also find themselves slipping into The Sherl's manner of speech? Possibly emphasised with aย syncopated medley of jaw jutting, noggin nodding & the elevation of one's eyebrows. ;-)ooo(

Hello!
My spouse and I watched this show at the start of 2026 it helped me realize that I needed to quit drinking alcohol and become sober myself! Itโs been a long road before Iโve gotten to this point but itโs been going really well!
Iโve been wanting to watch some episodes, specifically ones that show how Sherlock benefits from his sobriety or gets involved in his sober community. Thanks in advance!

I saw my first elementary today it was pathetic you couldn't understand a word they were saying they mumble it's some new trend that they followed that tried to look realistic and relaxed in everyday speech parlance, but by talking too fast and too gibbery, how can anyone follow the plot, the man practically whispers, I know a lot of Heroes in movies tend to do that I don't know why it's meant to make them seem tough but restrained, if it wasn't for putting captions on my screen I wouldn't have a clue what was happening. Lucy's lack lustre expression in her speech is pathetic, exhibiting no personality, no colour, no particular style of personality at all, simply like an automaton. for my first one I actually appreciated the plot line was very well researched and realistic, believable, credible, almost as though it is based on a real case. I would really enjoy watching this sort of police drama, if the acting wasn't so pathetic..

I always forget how horrible she actually is in her introduction. She finds out she has a sister through the man that had to leave them when she was younger, something she still struggles with, so she decides to go to their house when she needs a detective and pretend to be someone who not only knew his dead brother but also suggest that they dated. Plays up the whole story of him being 'the one' and how they were going to move in together etc. Then when she finds out that Joan was seeing him too, she doubles down and makes it a joke. We know he's still alive but she thinks he's dead ?? How fucking cruel. Her whole meltdown over Joan contacting her mum was so foul too. Guess both Joan and Sherlock have gross siblings. Maybe they really should've been together.

I absolutely loved Morland in Elementary, I don't think there's anyone out there who would've been a more perfect fit to play him. They both have their ups and downs and he's definitely a hard bastard but the steps he took towards Sherlock always seemed to be because he really did want to rebuild a relationship with him. I think their dynamic was incredible and so well performed. I love that even though he's receiving a threat from Sherlock's closest and in some ways only friend, he can't help but seem warmed by seeing someone care so deeply for his child. They're on the same page in this time and he seems to respect and appreciate their connection. I am by no means saying he was this perfect angel of a father or person at all, of course, I just loved watching his introduction and seeing that he just seemed to genuinely care for his son and regret his behaviour over the course of his life, and want to actually work on fixing it. I don't really now why after 4000 rewatches I'm now writing these as if it's my first but the discussion part has been fun.
What did you guys think?

Interested if anyone versed in neurodivergence topic as well Elementary Sherlock can investigate it? What do you guys think anyway?
