Home is a tiny student accommodation room which makes me want to scream even more than i’d like to cry but i cannot do that there. i know getting fresh air is good for a mind increasingly plagued by the blues. I am from nyc and typically do so on one of the waterfront area or on a roof overlooking the city but alas, i am no longer in new york and in need of some new traditions :’)
i am around the bruntsfield area but would like somewhere near the central university campus. too many people in meadows!! willing to travel for the good stuff

Been craving this like crazy but the places I've checked only have the chicken one. Most likely to be found in Slavic/maybe Middle Eastern markets. I used to get them back home from Balkan markets but alas, no Balkan stores here. My tastebuds thank you in advance for any leads you may have!!

Did anyone else experience the heart-palpitating nonsense of tonight’s Tesco shop in Canonmills? Bams flying out of doors, in doors, bottles smashing, an angry man with his face covered pursuing the bams through the store, shouts of a knife. I just dropped in to get some porridge accessories, I didn’t sign up for that. I felt for the young staff who and security guards who probably have to put up with this regularly.

Saw the driver of this car get out and assault a guy walking a wee dog. He turned off McDonald Road onto Broughton Road, next to the school, without indicating and nearly hit the guy.
Rightfully the dog-walker wasn’t best pleased, but the driver really didn’t like being called out. Does anyone know of any CCTV in the area where there might be pictures of the driver’s face for a police report?

Just wondering if anyone here, or anyone you know, is planning on cancelling a driving test at Currie in the next few weeks?
I’d be incredibly grateful if you could give me a heads-up before cancelling, as I’m really hoping to get a test sooner rather than later. The thought of waiting another 6 months is pretty soul-destroying!
Thanks so much in advance ❤️

If you had £20-30 to take yourself on a wee solo date, how would you spend the day?

Tl;DR - Mid 40s white Scottish male driving an enterprise rental van aggressively threatened family of four with two young kids, unprovoked.
Yesterday (12/10/26) at 11:45am I met my wife and young daughters (2 months, 3.5 yrs) for a coffee at Meadowbank Costa.
I arrived, parked the car and sat for a few minutes waiting for them to arrive, when they did I got out the car, spent a minute or two at the boot with the buggy when a white male in his mid 40's pulled up blocked me in, he was driving a white Enterprise van of which the first four digits were W025. He opened the van door and very sternly asked if I was following him, bewildered I calmly said I wasn't and asked him why he would think that.
I was wearing a bright yellow NY baseball cap, and he too reached down to the passenger seat and pulled out a yellow baseball cap, so I thought this was some sort of weird joke. He just kept staring at me and kept asking if I was following him. I was waiting for a sort of punch line moment for him to give up the act and say something along the lines of "i'm just winding you up." but that never came. Eventually my wife interjected and said this had gone on too far and that he was scaring the kids. My 3 year old daughter was cowering behind my wife's leg at this point. This just seemed to ratcheted up his anger and he started very aggressively telling me and my wife to stop weaponising our children.
I managed to diffuse the situation and he drove off and we went into the shop to forget about it, however when we were in the queue we watched him drive towards the Meadowbank shopping centre exit, go right around the roundabout and drive back, all the way around the car park back to Costa.
He then came into the shop and came up to me in the queue and started asking if he could have a word with me outside, to which I said no and that he was making me feel very threatened at this point. His anger and agitation kept ratcheting up and he started to rant on about how I'd followed him to the police station the night before, and that i'd been following him for years.
I kept trying to keep things from escalating and kept saying audibly loudly for everyone in the shop to hear that 'I've never seen [him] before in my life', 'I am just coming to have a coffee with my family' and that 'the kids are now scared and he was intimidating us'.
He then was trying to get in my wife's face who had our 2 month old in a carrier on her chest and was crouching down trying to get in my 3 year old daughters face too, who at this point was in tears again.
Sadly, I was trying to juggle keeping my distance from him, his distance from my wife and kids while looking around hoping someone might offer help/ to ring the police, nobody would even look our way. One man even skipped past this commotion in the queue to order his drink, then apologised to my wife after the fact while I was calling the police outside because he "didn't know how long all of that was going to take".
The police came after an hour and spoke to me for less than 5 minutes, didn't write anything down though, then went straight to Sainsbury's for their lunch.
In my opinion the man was either on drugs, or off anti-psychotic drugs and was having a mental health episode. He showed classic signs of schizophrenia/ paranoia. I wouldn't normally take this to the internet but - unlike a homeless drug abuser - this person was out and about doing the rounds in this rental van, and is violent, aggressive and dangerous. He had grey tracksuit bottoms on, T-shirt and a gilet, tattooed, short brown hair greying at the sides, Light blue eyes. Tattoo on his left hand between thumb and index finger of two circles.
Be careful out there.

I have been seeing these photos posted up all around town recently! Seems like every time I go outside more and more pop up. My friends have been seeing them too, but we're all a bit confused...I think they're really cool! Does anyone know what this is for? Thanks :)

Hello Everyone,
I am very new to both the city and the weather and would love to just sit in a hot tub for a while. Is there a reasonably priced place where I can use a hot tub ?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi! I will probably do an Erasmus exchange next year, and I am looking for testimonies about going on Erasmus as a blind person in Edinburgh.
Here are my questions, of course you can skip some of them if you can't answer! And if you prefer to answer by DM, feel free to message me, you can also send voice messages if that's easier.
How did you navigate around the city? I personally have a guide dog, so I think he will be able to guide me, but I still need somebody to show me some things. Did you ask a specialised association to help you? The university will probably ask somebody to help me with the basics, but is that enough?
Could you get help with other daily life tasks, such as paperwork or even computer problems? I often have problems with my braille device, and not everybody knows how to fix it, so I want to be sure I will be able to get help if I have problems.
How did you handle everyday tasks such as shopping? Where I live (in France), it really doesn't bother me to go into a shop and ask the seller to help me, but I don't know if that's just a French thing or if it would be okay to do it in another country too.
I know that there is a special scholarship for disabled people, but when I asked my teacher, they didn't know exactly how much it was. I suppose it has changed since your trip, but do you remember how much it was, just so I have an idea? I am trying to find other sources, but none of them agree.
In terms of housing, did you have specific accommodations in your apartment? In France, I know that some blind students can ask for an accessible apartment with more space. It's not my case because I didn't have my dog when I started uni, but I might consider this option if I don't want him to live in a tiny room. Do you also remember the price of the flat? Was it on campus or somewhere else?
Could the university provide the same accommodations for your exams? I think I won't have problems with common things like extra time, but I often need an isolated room with a secretary to help me in case my computer has a problem, and I don't know if every university offers that.
How long before your departure did you start contacting your university?
Was there anything you wish you had asked before leaving?
Thanks for your help.

Hello I’m an art student and my project is due in two weeks!
I was wondering if anyone knows of any bodies of water in or around Edinburgh with clay that I would be able to take a jar of?
Thank you!!

Firstly, the little straggly brown things in the sea with white bits, secondly the darker patches and thirdly the brown bubbles. Is it natural? is it pollution?

Edit: thoroughly enjoying the responses, had suspected this may rage bait.

While I like the form, I hate low floor-to-ceiling heights and smoked glass. (Remainder being converted in to a hotel)

A long shot, but just wondering if anyone had seen a blue Valencia Half Marathon bag near Tollcross Fire Station? It had running shoes in it and I left it in the basket of a Voi bike. I left the bike there at 8:48am on 12th October.
I tried going back later and looking around, but no sign of it and the bike was gone. Voi suggest reaching out to the council and won't tell me where the bike went next.
