GODDDD THEYRE EVERYWHERE. Bed, pillow, carpet, i find flakes in the hallway you know how embarrassing that is that they’re dragging through the house??? UGH. Sometimes i have to shake my shirt off because my neck and dandruff flake and i work in food.

i’ll itch my hands or arms by the office desk and realize ive left a small pile of flakes on the floor and quickly get the broom or move it around with my foot so its not noticeable to my coworkers

I’ve been in the flaking healing stage for what seems like a year i’m so fed up!! god.

this is just a vent post! wishing everyone a blessed and easy going day <3

Have you checked your detergents and washing machines?

My kid has been having eczema for 9 years and only the last 6 months I’ve realized it was because of the detergents. I thought after trying Tide gentle, seven generations, Arm and Harmer , and one more all made for sensitive skins , small and tiny amount +3 extra rinses were enough evidence for me to eliminate the detergent cause.

Turns out my washing machine is a high energy efficiency type meaning it doesn’t use a lot of water which always leaves soap on his clothes even after many extra rinses .

Since then, every time I do laundry, after the machine is done washing. I take all the clothes out and soak them in the sink with warm water and vinegar for an hour to get rid of the soap residue, then I put them back in the washing machine and rinse 3 extra rinses.

Kid eczema has 90% gone. The only places he has now is between his legs where he his pants rub against his skin more when he bikes. No eczema there in the summer when he wasn’t biking.

I hope this helps someone.

Has anyone’s eczema naturally disappeared over time?

I had really bad seasonal eczema growing up. Every time the weather hit the 50’s and lower, I’d have cracking, open cuts from my elbows to my fingers. And would sometimes swell from how inflamed my hands would get. Basically, it was severe.

But now that I’m in my 20’s it’s just gone? Periodically over the winter or if I’m really really stressed I’ll have a flare up but other than that, nothing.

It’s really just a curiosity post. I’m curious as to how I could go from severe eczema to a rare mild flare up, to which the last one was the beginning of last year.

Can anyone explain this or is it just something that could happen?

Rich wealthy people, how do you solve eczema?

Seriously, I feel like asking the pediatric doctors to help figure out why my baby has extremely itchy skin is talking to the wall. They’re just throwing oils and steroids at us.

I ask for to check maybe it’s her liver not functioning well so toxins are circulating around her body causing flares, they say no.
I ask to check for blood test for nutrition deficiency they say no.
I ask for allergy testing (which I’m on fence because I know the risk to test so early) they say no.

I’m helpless, what can I do in Canada to test ??
I refuse to believe that just using steroids to “manage” eczema. My mom gut believes it’s something internal.

I’ve done an online gut test, but they’ve just given me to take smidge probiotic. That’s all??!
I used to respect western doctors but now….ugh…they can’t relate to the pain do they?

biology | symptoms Toddler has eczema for the first time, doctor said there isn’t anything we can do.

This is making me so angry because I don’t know what to do!!
My daughter developed a rash around the left side of her mouth down to her chin, it’s grown and it keeps flaring and then getting kinda better and then flaring again.

The doctor said it was eczema or dermatitis (sorry I’m completely new to this stuff)
And basically told me I could try hydrocortisone cream but she can’t lick it.. but obviously she will, she’s a toddler, so I explained that and she said there isn’t anything we can really do.

So my kid is supposed to have a giant red rash on her face from now on? The amount of parents from daycare spreading rumors saying it must be HERPES is getting me so damn upset.

Does anyone have ANY recommendations on what I can do for my toddler so that the rash isn’t so prominent at least? I’ve already switched detergents, sippy cups, soaps, etc. still hasn’t gone away.

social struggles First time flying with eczema- missed my flight

First time flying with eczema. Now that pretty much all airlines charge for checked bags, I decided to put my lotions and products for eczema in a carry-on. They had to remove everything and test every item. I missed my flight and had to redirect 4 hours later. I want to throw up.

Can I take protopic forever?

I've switched entirely to protopic from eleuphrat because I wanted a non-steroidal option for my eczema. I can't get off it. I wean off a few days, it just comes back. It was the same with eleuphrat too. Eczema never goes away.

I've heard about dupixent but there are some people saying it's life changing, and others saying it ruined their lives. I don't want to flip the coin on this. Right now my eczema isn't so bad I can't leave the house, but I don't think I can keep going if it gets any worse.

Looking For Hand Soap Recommendations

My husband gets eczema flare ups occasionally, mostly on his hands. There's a hand soap I've found has worked well for him but it's gotten expensive and there's no bulk refill option, even from the manufacturer's website.

I'd like to try a different eczema friendly hand soap that will not dry out our hands that would be cheaper per ounce. We live in Minnesota and the winters here are dry. Of course we use fragrance-free lotion too, but finding a non-drying hand soap is still important since we can't always use lotion after every time we wash our hands (like when in the middle of cooking).

Anyone have any recommendations of eczema-friendly hand soap that works well for them and doesn't dry out the skin?

Office Soap help

So the bathroom at my office complex changed hand soap. It was just regular plain soap and mgnt went with 'seasonal' soaps.

Because everyone wants to smell like pumpkin hands this week. We have building bathrooms vs bathrooms inside our suites so mgnt takes care of stocking, cleaning etc.

I dont want to carry an entire bottle of soap everytime I head across the courtyard.

Does anyone have ideas? Anyone used those paper soap sheets?

We do have a sink/kitchen area in our suite and full autonomy over what is stocked for private use. I guess my other option is to water rinse my hands at the bathroom then re-wash once I get back to my office?

2+ year flare finally healing?

Okay so I cant actually remember when my eczema started not going away but its been about 2 pr 3 constant years. I have patches on both of my sides, back of armpit/both inner arms, outside of my forearm, on my lower back, below my butt and on the entire side of my right leg (so a lot lol)

Anyways ive tried basically every lotion and potion, I got a steroid pack but couldn't stand how it made me feel. Tried diets, antihistamines, even went on a beach vacation.. every time it seems like its going away it comes right back the very next day. I think I have intrinsic eczema because even not taking hot showers doesnt seem to make a difference and my night itchiness is off the wall. I will say... some of the stories i read i dont think mine is that bad because im luckily not weepy and oozy.

SO I decided to try magic molecule spray and magically I see the light at the end of this tunnel. Im still scratching at night but i get up and respray and after like 4 days now im noticing a major change in the way my skin feels and looks. All thats left really is the little wounds from scratching and then the internal itch. Ill update in a week :)

New to eczema :(

I’m 22 and have developed eczema covering the whole right side of my cheek. It appeared at the beginning of 2026 but I’ve never had anything like this before…
I feel so hopeless so I’ve come to Reddit! I’ve tried so many things to help but I still get flare ups multiple times a day. I’ve just purchased hypochlorous spray so I’ll see if it helps. My current routine is (now) the spray, Cera ve Lotion, and I slug most nights with Vaseline. Can I have some guidance on what I could use or how to make my routine better? Ive been scrolling through this page and seen studies suggesting staph?? Would love your wisdom in the comments!!

My experience with Zudaifu 8 years almost eczema-free

Just wanted to share my personal experience with Zudaifu.
I’m 28 years old now, and I’ve struggled with severe eczema since I was a child.
When I was 18, I started using Zudaifu on my entire body and face for about a month. And honestly, what happened next still amazes me.
My eczema completely cleared up, and I stayed almost eczema-free for the next 8 years.
During those years, I would occasionally get a small patch of eczema here and there. Whenever that happened, I would apply Zudaifu just once, and the patch would disappear again.
About two years ago, my eczema came back worse than ever.
I had countless sleepless nights because of the itching and discomfort. I went to doctors, tried light therapy, used prescribed medications (including steroids), had allergy tests done, cut out dairy and several other foods, and tried so many different things.
Nothing seemed to help.
A week ago, I decided to try Zudaifu again.
And here I am, just one week later, with my face completely healed and the eczema on my body improving every day.
Before using it again, I did a lot of research. I’m fully aware of the concerns about potentially undeclared steroids in Zudaifu, and I understand why people are cautious about it.
But I also can’t ignore my own experience. This is the one product that has given me relief when nothing else seemed to work, and I experienced almost eight years of clear skin after using it for just one month.
For the first time in a long time, I finally feel pretty again.
I can sleep peacefully. I can wear makeup again. I feel comfortable wearing perfume. I can look in the mirror and feel happy with what I see.
And most importantly, I’m no longer ashamed to go outside.
People who have struggled with severe eczema know how much it can affect your confidence, your sleep, your mental health, and your entire life.
I’m not saying Zudaifu is safe for everyone, and I’m not telling anyone to use it. I know there are concerns, and everyone should do their own research and make their own decisions.
But personally, I don’t want to give up on something that has made such a difference in my life.
This isn’t medical advice or a recommendation. It’s simply my story, and I wanted to share it. ❤️

Recomendation for Eczema sleeves

Hi! My daughter will be back to school after this fall break Im worried about her eczema flare up. Especially in her arms and thighs. I’ve come across eczema sleeves and leggings. Are they worth it and helpful? And if yes, do you any recommendations on what brand or where you’ve bought them? Also, are bamboo better than cotton? Thank you so much!!

social struggles Summer Eczema season is off

I had a terrible summer because of eczema/ hives/ random skin reactions and had to consult for it. It was worse than anything I've experienced before...

Now we're entering the cold season and it's been a while I didn't have a reaction and I'm hoping for a decent break.

But every winter brings in another wave of eczema because it's so dry my skin cracks! I scratch it until it bleeds and have to cover it with so much lotion for a little bit of relief.

Before it was only winter, now it's summer and winter?

So I only get relief during spring and fall??? Fml

Other people get season related eczema?

dyshidrotic eczema

• Upvotes

I suffer from dyshidrotic eczema on my feet and when it gets too itchy i pop the blisters to relieve it. however this flare up is leading to a lot of the blisters to become infected. has anyone else suffered through this? what could be causing it?

r/eczema • • 1h ago

Any advice appreciated.

• Upvotes

This is kinda long so I appreciate anyone who might take the time to read this!

I’ve had eczema my whole life (mostly atopic dermatitis, some dyshidrotic eczema especially in high school). Environmental allergies: pretty much everything but horses and pine trees. Other allergies: penicillin, some nuts (mostly due to my severe birch allergy per my allergist), and oats. I’ve been really struggling lately. Normally I would go through a worse flare every year or so and I’d deal with it and it would ease up after a while, but it seems like as an adult (28y/o) it’s just gotten worse. I have been dealing with a flare for the past year and a half.

Treatments:
- Steroid shots: as a child when the flares got severe
- Medrol dose packs: occasionally was prescribed for flares as an adult
- Triamcinolone: very sparingly as I’m terrified of TSW
- Eucrisa: didn’t really work for me
- Opzelura: worked well for a while, the dermatologist I was seeing at the time gave me basically no information on it and while I should have done more research myself it kinda just stopped working after a while.
- Vtama: last year, kinda worked? But it wasn’t life changing.
- Mupirocin: for a recent infection
- Doxycycline: for a recent infection
- Zoyrve: currently on this medication and waiting for it to work.
- Impoyz: a 3 day course for acute inflammation
- I won’t get into every OTC thing but starting in September I started being more consistent in taking Vitamin D3+K2, omega 3s, and Zyrtec. I’ve now been on all daily for 5 weeks. Go back and forth usually between Zyrtec and Claritin for my usual allergies and Benadryl around cats and dogs or severe environmental stuff.

Last summer it got to where it was almost over my entire body. I had bleeding and was bruised all over from scratching. My SO would drive me around in the car and have me sit on my hands to distract me and keep from scratching uncontrollably. Sleeping was so difficult. I did allergy testing at my allergist, my dermatologist got referred to another dermatologist to talk about phototherapy, and did an elimination diet for almost two months where I broke out in whole body hives after eating oats. The information from my allergy testing was semi helpful but I wasn’t using anything that I testing positive to. The flare kinda calmed down after a while and it got to the point where I felt like I could live normally again. My skin didn’t look fantastic but it wasn’t spread over my whole body anymore.

I basically use the most plain skincare ever to help keep my skin calm but nothing really helps. I use Vanicream everything, some Cerave (not recently though as it’s been making irritation worse), and Vaseline.

Fast forward to June of this year, I’d had some flaring on my neck and face and the other usual spots (back of knees, elbows, hands) on and off in the spring but nothing terribly unusual. In May a spot on my chin started getting worse. I was doing all my usual things to help soothe and manage but it kept staying red and irritated with relief every once in a while. In June I thought I for sure had an infection over a weekend I was out of town but I was able to get a telehealth appointment and they prescribed some Mupirocin for a week. It seemed to help that spot some. During July things were okay but not great. I went to the beach and maybe my skin loves the sun bc it cleared up a lot. At the time I was also using a sample of Zoryve my derm had given me earlier in the year (unfortunately the sample was the 0.05 and not the 0.15 but I guess it was something). I was using that and it seemed to help some but then the end of July/beginning of August things just went downhill.

I get redness in my philtrum and the eczema on my chin progressively got worse and worse and opened up. It started as such a small spot (and now it’s about the size of a quarter or maybe a silver dollar on my chin). I did another elimination to see if maybe my body just needed a bit of a reset. I could never tell if it ever really got better at times or if it was just in my head. I wasn’t sleeping. I was doing anything and everything to try and stop the cycle of scratching. My SO would wake up and grab my hands while I slept because sometimes I would scratch so violently it would wake them up.

By September I was worried about infection again and came to terms with I just can’t live like this anymore and nothing is helping. I love my dermatologist but maybe you guys understand the hesitation of going back again and again when it feels like a lot of times there’s nothing they can do. My chin especially was crusting and weeping and getting worse and my whole body was getting worse as well so I went back to my derm and she put me on two weeks of doxycycline, a medrol dose back, Triamcinolone twice a day for my hands, elbows, and knees, and Zoryve (now the adult dose - 0.15) for my neck, eyelids, philtrum, and chin (once it healed enough to apply it - was about a week before the skin was intact enough). She told me to basically just use Vaseline and Vanicream moisturizer if I tolerate it and she said if I still had the mupirocin I could put that on my chin as well. I started the doxycycline, Triamcinolone, and Zoryve that night and the medrol dose pack the next morning. Even after just one night I could tell a huge difference in my itching. The next two weeks I experienced more relief than I had in months. I was sleeping soundly. I was so thankful.

Behind my knees has stayed flare free, my elbows and hands have either been clear or like 80-90% clear, my eyelid has been clear, however, my neck, above my lip, and that spot on my chin will not quit. I went back to my derm AGAIN last week because my face and neck (especially my chin) got SUPER inflamed and cracked and was bleeding again and I didn’t know what to do. He told me to use a very thin layer of impoyz (clobetasol propionate) on the spots on my face and neck once a day for three days and then switch back to the Zoryve. I did that - a thin layer on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and then switched back to Zoryve on Sunday. It worked fantastically- and even on all the other meds I’d had over the last month my face was clearer and less red than it’s been in a long, long time. However, starting yesterday redness and inflammation on my chin started coming back… I can’t use that impoyz again for a long while since it’s a steroid… whomp whomp :(

Called my derm asking about maybe trying something else that’s stronger or a different mechanism and then switch back to Zoryve once the deep skin barrier has had more time to heal and he basically said give the Zoryve more time… I started on most spots on my face September 9th and when my chin was intact enough to start it I only stopped on my chin for those 3 days I used the impoyz so it’s been a good 4 weeks I’ve been using it but I supposed it could take longer.

I am just so frustrated and tired and I don’t know what to do. I’ve considered phototherapy but it would be hard with my work schedule. I’m really hesitant to try dupixant since it hasn’t been on the market for long and I have turned the idea of trying it over and over but I am just not comfortable. I’d also be really worried about rebound flares. Allergy shots are SO expensive and they’d probably make my eczema worse to start out anyway.

I’m tired dawg.

I know eczema is so different for every person but if anyone has any thoughts, advice, or just some hopeful stories I’d love to hear. Anyone think somehow fitting phototherapy in would be worth it? Anyone have any other recs?? Thanks for reading if you made it to the end!

Stopping steroid

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I have been taking steroid (betnovate) for 4 weeks now twice a day and I am soon to start cutting it down. My doctor didnt give me any advice on how to do that so imma try 1 week of once a day then 1 week of once every other day. To be honest I am absolutely terrified to stop. I am so nervous that as soon as I stop the cream it will just come back. I had been in my last severe flare up for over a year and used steroid as a last resort. You probably know how it is, you use it and its like magic and you stop and its hell again.

If anything tho its worse cos I have experienced the last 3 weeks with my skin being relatively clear and not dry and I dont wanna go back to it being so terrible I just cant handle it anymore.

My skin being like it was makes me super depressed and people made comments on it every day.

I guess im just really nervous and maybe over thinking it cos I just wish my skin could stay like this but I know I have to stop the steroid before I do too much damage.

Do any of you have any experience slowing down steroid use after 4 to 5 weeks and how you found it and what advice you may have if it does return?

humour | rant | meme Eczema flares on fingers

this is a rant

I feel like I’m actually going insane. I’m 21 and have had eczema on my skin since birth. of course there’s been up and downs. but here’s the thing. ever since I started working at a paint department my eczema has spread to my fingers and now blisters and pops and good lord it hurts.

like. insanely hurts. and it doesn’t go away until I’m home and after taking care of it.

yes I have my cerave cream and that usually works really well but it never calms down and has only gotten bad since I started working this job.

i tried asking my doctor to go see a dermatologist and she just denied me. saying either to find a new job or move departments but I can’t do either of those.

she also said just eliminate all of the chemicals that could be causing it. but what the hell am I supposed to do if it’s the paint causing it?? I can’t just not touch anything involving my job.

i actually don’t even know what to do other than continue existing in pain. and I already do that enough with the eczema on my arms and legs…

i keep waking up at night

i have been literally so tired because i cant sleep at all during the night. i take a lukewarm shower and after i apply vaseline and my sterioidal ointments (i use chlobetasol and triamcinolone) i wait like 15 mintues to apply my pjs which are just pants and long sleeves so that i dont see my skin so i wont itch. i keep the room cool, fan on, 69 degrees, and humidifier on and the vaseline beside my bed. when i hop in bed it feels so nice and cold and i fall asleep but however after like 2-3 hours i wake up and i have to reapply vaseline and i just cant fall asleep and i just go scratchign like crazy. i have to switch sleeping locations so that my bed can cool down cuz it heats up and then i go back in my bed and then i wake up again in like 2 hours. then i go back to sleep at 5am and i have to wake up 6am and it sucks because when i sleep at 5am afterwards its good sleep (around 5 hours). i take magnesium glycinate for my sleep and i usually eat 1-3 hours before bed. any fixes/help would be soooo greatly appreciated. also a factor that may contribute to this but im not sure on is that im kinda really stressed out rn with stuff i have on my plate and idk if it contributes but if yall know any things to help me fix my stress i would so greatly appreciate it!

Dupixent for eczema and gut issues.

Hey everyone I recently went on dupixent for asthma and eczema but I also have gut issues.
My first reaction I think to the medication is gastritis. It is being controlled by pantaprozole but like the next day after my injection I started to feel the pain and nausea again. Wondered if anyone else had this reaction and if it went away after a couple days.

PSA: EczemaWise shuts down Dec 18 — save your data and photos now

If you use EczemaWise (the National Eczema Association's tracker), heads up: new sign-ups closed back in April, and the app is only supported until December 18, 2026. It says so on its App Store page.

If you've been logging in it for months or years, that history is worth keeping — it's your baseline for spotting patterns and for showing a dermatologist what the last year actually looked like. A few things worth doing now rather than in December:

  1. Export your health report. Look in the app's menus for the report/summary/share option and save it as a PDF (email it to yourself or save to Files).

  2. Save your photos. They're stored on your phone, so download them while the app is still installed. Once it's deleted, they're gone.

  3. Screenshot anything the report misses — flare calendar, trigger notes, treatment history. Not elegant, but it works.

  4. If something doesn't export, contact NEA support before the deadline.

I've had eczema since I was a kid and lost a tracking history once when an app disappeared, so just passing this on. Does anyone know if NEA is recommending anything as a replacement?
