You can also take a day trip group tour from Baños to Puyo. You hike to a waterfall in the jungle, visit an overlook, see an indigenous community where you can get face painted and hold a snake, take pics. It is a fun day. There are several tour agencies all over town that can book that trip for you

Admiro que te esfuerces en escribir en español ya que muchos ni lo intentan y asumen que los demás se tienen que adaptar a ellos en vez de ser al revez, demuestra respeto hacia el país y sus culturas, mucha suerte en tu viaje!

If you have the time, visiting the Amazon is worth it. I’d recommend finding a tour company for it. Some of the communities have limits on tourists and such. Many companies have English speaking guides.

Stay at La Selva lodge in Yasuní national park. You just need to get to Quito, and they set up your flight to and from Coca. 2 hour motorized canoe ride down the Napo river and a 30 min paddle canoe from the river to the lodge. Parters with the local communities so you have a local guide and a biologist on each excursion.
The food is top notch. The accommodations are incredible, just know that there is no AC, but there are fans in the rooms.
I actually got back from La Selva on Friday, couldn’t recommend it enough.

If you make it to yasuni and you’re looking for an indigenous experience stay at Sani Isla Lodge. Much like the above commenter described, with the key difference being that the ecotourism company is owed by the indigenous community instead of partnering with them. If you wish, you can visit the Sani Isla village and learn traditional food preparation from the villagers.

If you plan on going to Tena (which I read in a comment before) it's a beautiful area and close to Quito (3hr drive), be sure to visit Archidona, there's an amazing place called Canopy Bridge that serves contemporary amazonic food with a lot of research behind and valuable information on culture. They open Thursday thru Saturday nights, also in the parque lineal in Tena you'll find amazonic icecreams which are incredible and made from local uncommon products. Paradero Paquisha is a must (20min drive from Tena) there you'll find smoked cachama which is quite the experience. Also hit up the people from Amawta, they recently did a gathering in Tena which was really cool and you'll get to know nice people, plus they know which rivers are clean for swimming (don't get into Misahuallí or other rivers before being sure there's no mining uphill). You'll enjoy a lot! DM me if you want the contact of nice people there :)

Hola!

It's run by a fabulous, indigenous on Rio Napa. We stayed there 5 days and loved it.

Máshpi is in the Cloud forest, not the Amazon jungle

I know, I was just suggesting it as it's close by and will have to travel through the cloud forest to get to the amazon. I know it's not the same as the but it's still worth visiting. They also just said jungle not Amazon, so wasn't sure if they even realized there's the cloud forest.

My partner’s family owns a place called The Grand Selva Lodge in Tena! We've been there several times and everyone is very friendly. They offer tours on the Arajuno River with tubes and a walk through AmaZOOnico (a rescue). It was a lot of fun!! Also, if you're planning to go to Tena/Archidona, check out Cotundo Chérie in Cotundo! Delicious food and coffee! (Spanish is not my first language either, so I'm sorry if there are any mistakes)
ETA: The tour also brings you to an indigenous community where you learn about the culture!

Do you have the yellow fever vaccination? We typically avoid jungle locations in South America.
Instead, we are going to Cuenca (flight from Quito)

Yes I got one when I went to the jungle in Peru two years ago! But my sister doesn’t have one.

The Amazon is so much more fun and interesting than a provincial city like Cuenca.

Stay in Cuenca and do not try to see the rest of this country please. Immigrants from the USA already spoiled Cotacachi, many areas of Quito, Cuenca, Baños and made private half of the coast of Manabi..

There is a reason expats love the mountains. Perfect weather and better infrastructure. We decided to do 3 nights in Quito, 4 nights in Cuenca, and 3 nights in Quito. Staying in boutique hotels with generators to avoid any power outages.
On day 2, we will take day trip to Mindo (slightly lower elevation) to help with acclimatization, and while in Cuenca --another day trip to Cajas NP.
On our last 3 days, Teleferico and another day trip to (Cotopaxi? Mitad Del Mundo?).

It wasn’t required to enter the country, but I got a yellow fever and typhoid vaccine, as well as malaria pills. Better safe than sorry in the Amazon.

Learn as much Spanish as you can. That way you don't make a bad name for all the gringos.
