we cannot run dameon pierce all game again ... this panthers game is a must win

I’d imagine if Barkleys out we elevate Steele, which I would be excited about, he looked really good in preseason

Steel was signed to the active roster (alongside pierce) last week. They actively chose to not run him last on Sunday

I wonder if he has a fumbling problem or something because the fact that they have 0 interest in even giving him a single snap despite Shipley getting hurt halfway through says a lot

He had a huge fumble problem with the chiefs. Like it was nearly 1 in 15 of his touches IIRC and that’s why they cut him and he quickly fell out of favor after being a fan favorite there too

So our running game is now down to just Pierce because they don't trust Steele. Great, we are so one-dimensional on offense now; every defense will know we can't run the ball at all, so any run we do will just get stuffed.

That’ll do it.

Yeah that plus remember how horrendous the Chiefs' RB room the past few seasons was before they got KWIII this year?

They were resigned to using an insanely washed Kareem Hunt and a clearly-broken-by-injuries Isiah Pacheco. If Steele couldn't crack that RB rotation or the Chiefs' decided he wasn't it, it isn't a good sign for his long term prospects as a RB.

I’m not gonna pretend like I know more than Andy Reid, so I’m sure there’s a good reason for it. But iirc he only (“only”) had like 3 fumbles. They just yanked him really quickly after one egregiously costly fumble. Otherwise, he looked really good that season, I thought. I know the eye test felt legit and his fantasy numbers were looking good… I had stashed him before he got cut.

And fumbling can be coached, right?

So idk, maybe he kept fumbling at practice or something. But I recall thinking, as a starter, Steele looked legit. And then, as an Eagle, he had a sick preseason showing, idk if the whole “it’s just 2nd stringers” holds up, since we also saw him in KC against starters, and the only black mark was the fumbles.

Famous last words, or something like that, but I’m optimistic for Steele and, if Barkley is still out, I’d love to see Steele get some touches. I’ve always liked the kid

I think they had him on special teams

2

u/josephdi0rr 18h ago

would defintely bring some juice.. especially with how fresh he will be

Nasty Nate award winner.

Carson gonna steele the show

Steele sharpens steel

He was signed to the 53 man roster last week and was active against the jags, idk why they chose to run pierce over him

5

u/MorPhreeUs Smitty, Wicks and Associates 17h ago

Because he runs a 4.8 and had a sub 3.5 YPC average. He also has a fumbling problem, averaging one every 18 carries.

I do like him as a receiving back though but asking him to carry a run game isn't going to look any better than Pierce.

Can’t possibly look slower than Pierce did out there. At least worth a series for a look

1

u/ghrendal 2h ago

yea the reason he was cut from the niners was the fumbling

1

u/ThePhoenixXM Eagles 17h ago

Still, better than having no running game to speak of. If Pierce gets injured like the rest of the RB room, who are we going to run with?

2

u/MorPhreeUs Smitty, Wicks and Associates 17h ago

I mean when you're down to the 4th or 5th option at RB, you're pretty much screwed unless you uncover a hidden gem.

1

u/Opposite_Engine_6776 15h ago

Because he’s not good and is Pearce actually has some NFL experience. Sure he looked good against grocery baggers and DoorDash drivers in meaningless preseason action.

1

u/Clear-Search1129 13h ago

Pierce looked like he had concrete blocks on his feet. Beyond slow

1

u/Opposite_Engine_6776 12h ago

He’s actually faster than Steele lol. It’s dire at RB until we get Saquon or Ship back. Either that or we sign someone off a PS that has some speed.

1

u/Clear-Search1129 12h ago

That’s what I’m saying. Steele is worth a series and look at least

1

u/The5th5thBeatle 16h ago

I don’t think it has been talked enough that they have Pierce on the roster in the first place . He hasn’t been good since 2022. There’s no young project RBs that practice squad space could’ve been used on? It every player can be a star, but come on. 3rd/4th/5th rbs should be a churn of Lise players in hopes you have someone that sticks. Steele? Pierce? Even Shipley, tbh

1

u/LeoFrankenstein 4h ago

Yeah I don’t think we are in must wins anymore this season. We get healthy and try to get this offense working. If we win, great. In the end we may still win the division given how stupid the other teams are, but I don’t think anyone should be thinking about wins when we have a historically disjointed offense

u/CheezyBeanBurrito 18h ago

Is it 2020 all over again? The team is so injured

15

u/Zeruma_ 18h ago

Sold the teams health for a healthy embiid and LeBron

7

u/shotahfiyah 18h ago

I was not consulted on this trade!

5

u/Dweddpiewitt 17h ago

With all due respect, please delete that premature statement lol

1

u/Zeruma_ 17h ago

It’s a joke I didn’t think I would need the /s

2

u/Dweddpiewitt 17h ago

So was my comment, hence the "lol". Superstition is a silly notion in itself, and I'm fully in on the joke

u/Illblood 18h ago

How did Kendall get banged up that bad man and our safety room is fucked lol

10

u/Incepticons 18h ago

Good bit trading cam (right move) but Kendall gets hurt immediately lol

7

u/dsymquen 18h ago

Well Kendall getting hurt was Cams parting gift since he indirectly caused the injury.

12

u/FightTheDead118 Eagles 18h ago

I hope whoever is playing at center is doing some serious practice reps with Hurts this week. There were multiple balls last game that were over his head. Chemistry definitely isn’t there with the backup guys

2

u/MosesDoughty 18h ago

I assume Majors until Landon or Kendall is back?

5

u/Extension_Ask9293 18h ago

im expecting it to be willy at center with landon at guard

1

u/MosesDoughty 18h ago

Makes sense. Have they been training Willie at center? Haven't seen an update on the line

2

u/Alex-Gopson 17h ago

Center is his natural position.

1

u/RvstandRvin1626 17h ago

When/if Landon is back, I actually think they'd be better moving him to C and keep Lampkin at LG. If Landon doesn't have the range of movement for G anymore, there might be more longevity for him at C.

1

u/Spare-Half796 Secondairy 🥛 18h ago

If it’s the same guys out I’d assume so but maybe they’ll try lampkin at C and Morris at guard

1

u/mogwai316 17h ago

They didn't even put Morris in when Steen was hurt last game, they had Fred play guard instead. So seems like they don't have any confidence in playing Morris yet.

1

u/Spare-Half796 Secondairy 🥛 16h ago

Fair enough. He was a project pick and wasn’t even active the first first weeks

9

u/KoBxElucidator You want Philly Philly? 18h ago

Pretty much have come to the conclusion that Smitty is just never going to be healthy this season. Thats just how hammy injuries work. He's been dealing with it since training camp.

2

u/Spare-Half796 Secondairy 🥛 18h ago

He’s been dealing with hamstring problems going back to 2024

3

u/MarionberryDecent351 18h ago

Saquon being out really sucks and Greenard better actually play if ready.

2

u/knglrk Not All Dogs Go To Heaven 16h ago

Keep Epps off the field 🙏

1

u/Immediate-Count-1202 16h ago

This offseason will be interesting as Howie needs to really assess what he has in the unit that has defined our team more than any other over the past couple of decades.

I can see Mailata and Kendall as having roles in the future of a strong OL. The jury is still out on Willie Lampkin, whose body may not hold up to the rigors of a full season, and Bell who’s been pressed into service a bit ahead of plan. Steen is serviceable but I think that’s his ceiling

-1

u/Cryoboul Eagles 17h ago

We can cut our losses with Johnathan

3

u/mogwai316 17h ago

Not really, cause we gave him a 93 million dollar contract.

1

u/red-broom 16h ago

I’m confused. Isn’t this saying he IS suited up today? Or am I reading this wrong? To me, “beyond” in this context indicates “these guys are suited up and more previously injured guys are as well”.

I could be wrong though.

2

u/mogwai316 15h ago

It's worded very confusingly. But Greenard, Epps, and Brown were all listed as "limited participation" today in the full report along with a ton of other guys:

https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/news/panthers-vs-eagles-injury-report-2026-nfl-week-6-saquon-barkley-devonta-smith

2

u/red-broom 15h ago

Def worded weird. Appreciate you!

u/ThePhoenixXM Eagles 17h ago

Too bad, we gave him a MASSIVE contract during the draft for whatever reason.
