Unpopular Opinion Does no one like Jackson?

I feel like i never see him in any of the other stars TikTok’s or instagram posts. I know he has been traveling with bananaball, but these pictures were all taken on show day and he is no where to be found. Weird bc the other guys all seem so close and doesn’t seem to fit in…

SHOW SPOILERS Maura’s dedication

I avoid looking at upcoming dances, but saw her dedication is to Ireland. I just wanted to explain some significance to her dance next week and what it means to me.

Mods, this is going to be a frequently talked about subject within the next week. I’m aware of the politics rule, but this is different.

Maura’s a raging republican. This has completely different context in Ireland. Republicans there are fighting for a united country without English controlling the north. It has nothing to do with the US definition. If you’ve ever seen Derry Girls, she hates the orange order.

The british occupation significantly changed the Irish population. The potato famine was actually a strategic starvation. It’s changed the DNA of following generations. Maura’s been ridiculed on Tiktok for being scored high for her skinny frame. That’s a common trait among Irish people because of being starved.

That generational trauma has also resulted in addiction and illnesses. Irish people are like 75% of hemochromatosis deaths. This happens when you have too much iron. During starvation, this genetic mutation helped people survive. Now it’s killing predecessors generations later. Also, Irish people significantly struggle with alcoholism and addictions.

The Irish language is nearly dead because of the British occupation. They’re a very patriotic country trying to regain their culture and independence.

Joe Buck’s comment about being proud to be Irish. Yes! Irish Americans are Irish. Fleeing Ireland was the only option for many. I can’t stand judgement towards not being fully from Ireland. Embracing your heritage is important, especially in the US which is a melting pot. Half the pros left USSR countries.

Anyways, up the ra & tiocfaidh ár lá

General Discussion Finally watched Tuesday's episode

I saw all the drama before I watched and I was getting nervous to watch 😬 However, now that I have, I think the CAI and Jenna stuff is overblown. It's nothing new. CAI always has been the lift police, to the point of boos and people disagreeing for years. She docks a point, whatever, move on. Talk smack privately, but the way Jenna and Val, and people online are charging with this is crazy.

Second thought when watching is, I still haven't found myself enjoy Harry's dances. Anyone else? I can't quite figure out exactly what it is, but it just never connects, or is distinct in my memory, and I feel nothing nor do I ever thing 'ooo I gotta watch that again!' I had felt the same way with Jenna D's early performances, but shes doing better and this weeks was amazing and he last two were good too.

My last thought, Jackson, Tyler and Connor should have all had 6's sprinkled with some 7s for the judges that really enjoyed it. I have a really hard time watching Jackson, again don't know why exactly. Tyler in the middle, but Connor, even with mistakes, I can enjoy as entertainment even.

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 drama from Tuesday night

okay im not the biggest fan over Carrie Ann but some of yall are unhinged. no one deserves this amount of back lash or even death threats in my opinion over this. yes she can be extremely harsh and have a way with her words, but this is her job to criticize the stars. without criticism this show will be bland and boring since no one will be improving. social media has seriously ruined dwts. everyone wants to attack and threaten someone over the smallest issue. she is like this every year, she isnt going to change, yall need to stop bullying her.

another thing is, ive heen a val girl since I was younger, but this season he has lowkey disappointed me. especially with his comment towards Carrie Ann on Tuesday. again I say, no one deserves to be threatened. I really hope he apologizes and takes some sort of accountability. yes he was mad and defending his wife, but he took it to far. for all the val/jenna fans defending his behavior, I understand whyd you wanna support him on this hes one of my favs, but you dont go threatening someone especially if your on some sort of platform. honestly wont be surprised if Jenna or Harry go home these next two weeks because of this situation.

I honestly preferred val alot more last season. when val was with Alix and especially Xochitl he was a completely different person. now his ego is through the roof and hes very cocky.

Question Bruno, “there could be 4!”

Did anyone hear what exactly Bruno said last night when Whitney and Guillermo were getting their scores? Joe Buck had said “you 3 are getting better every week” and it sounded like in the back Bruno goes “THERE COULD BE 4!” and then Alfonso scolded him by going BRUNO….. just wondering what exactly he meant by that if that’s exactly what he said…. yikes 😬

Question One dance style a night?

Why dont the have everyone dance one style a night?

Like one week is samba and EVERY couple does samba. or jazz week and everyone does jazz.

Would that not make scoring a little more consistent?

🔥 Hot Take 🔥 My personal scores and WHY

Jenna and Val, Ezra and Dani, Amber and Pasha- all 9s. Choreo was stellar, felt like all of them connected with their partners, highlighted strengths, and showcased the dance style while managing to celebrate the theme of Super Bowl night.

Maura and Mark- 3 8s, 1 9 works for me. It was solid, they have a great connection without a doubt. I look forward to them each week. I don’t think it quite packed the wow factor as the others’ did this week, but I’ll give them the 9 for staying true to the style within the theme.

Tatyana and Jan - think they all deserve all 8s. They were all entertaining. Tatyana and Jan had a great salsa with a shit song working against them, but still a clear salsa. They delivered where others cut corners and still gave us great content in the theme.

Jenna and Harry, Ezra and Julia- 3 8s, 1 7-. DONT COME FOR ME. They both had fantastic dances with cool content that catered to the strengths of the celeb and the theme. HOWEVER, both Ezra and Jenna cut corners with their respective dance type imo and I found that irritating when others were out here working with the music they were given. At least Ezra admitted it. I know Jenna had some Samba in there, but between the music and other choreo choices it really didn’t come off like it to me (and clearly wasn’t to the judges).

Tyler and Sharna- 1 8, 3 7s. This was fun! It had jazz! It played to his strengths! He still looked awkward but less than previous weeks. It wasn’t that memorable though. He’s still kind of keeping his head above water.

Jackson and Emma- All 7s- Similar to Tyler, Jackson is improving here, but it wasn’t that memorable to me. Like, even less than Tyler’s dance (or honestly Connor because they shaded him so badly). He’s just kind of there for me and it shows.

Connor and Rylee- 3 7s, 1 6. Whatever, it was awkward, but he’s trying! I do find him more entertaining than Jackson and find myself rooting for him more, I wanted to give him all 7s but I think Jackson had slightly more rhythm this week. I think they’re interchangeable though, minus the judges harping on him way more than Jackson.

Witney and Guillermo - all 6s, entertainment ALONE!! Did you’ll see those splits??? Idc if it’s not about her! I found Guillermo way more endearing and fun to watch than Andy, and I’m honestly so sad he’s gone way earlier then Andy. He was trying and Witney truly is genius in how she can work with anyone and play to strengths + likability.

Overall: while Guillermo is clearly the worst dancer, I personally think Jackson is the most boring to watch, with Tyler quickly behind. Connor’s redeeming quality right now is his charisma, but I’m not sure that will get him votes much longer now that Guillermo is out. I do think those 3 will be easily the next to go, unless some of the others have a scandal or something to lose a chunk of fans to blow numbers.

General Discussion Do dwts viewers from years back miss the spice of early days or do you like the 'vanilla' of more recent years?

The recent exchange between C.A.I. and Jenna J. made me wish for more of that push back and also the conflicts with partners. I wondered what you all think?

-I wanted to add that I have only been posting random things for a short time, and I really appreciate the engagement of the community. I don't always agree with everything (obviously) but I like to get the temperature of what people are thinking and I wanted to thank everyone that has responded to any of my postings (even the snark). Hope you all enjoy your day or night.

Judging the Judging CAI discussion

I’m not a huge fan of CAI my biggest issue is her biased critiques and scoring with men vs women. She’s a lot harder on the women especially if they’re mothers. I absolutely hated the way she talked to Jen and Danielle last season. However people take things too far especially Val with his recent comment. I also think fans have taken things too far with some of the comments they’ve made about her online. What Val is doing is bullying and threatening CAI which nobody deserves to be bullied or threatened.

There’s a fine line between sharing a disagreement and just straight up bullying and attacking someone. I think Val should be pulled this season for his behavior. But I also think it’s unfair to Jenna D who isn’t involved and doesn’t seem like the type of person that supports this sort of behavior. I have always liked Jenna D and I hope fans don’t come after her for Val’s recent comment. It’s out of her control and I have a feeling she is embarrassed by her pro’s behavior.

I’m a newer fan to the show so to the older fans please fill me in on this has Val always been cocky and arrogant? Because he’s definitely shown that he is this season so far. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but again there’s a fine line between sharing a disagreement and just straight up bullying and attacking someone. I think Val thinks he can get away with it because he’s one of the more popular pros. That he tends to get paired with more famous and some that are more advanced than other contestants. What do you guys think????

Question How many of the pros are in relationships with each other?

I just started watching last season, so just discovered Pasha and Daniella are married, and that Alan and Emma are together. Is there any other ones that are a real couple?

Opinions Harry and Jenna

I've seen so much talk about this dance and the other things that happened afterwards. But I actually want to talk about the dance itself.

Contrary to popular belief, the dance actually had plenty of samba content. It just wasn't done well at all, which has led people to think there wasn't any. It had all the staples (minus samba rolls but those aren't really needed at all btw), but he just hit every move so hard and aggressive that it was hard to watch.

Jenna has definitely gotten lazy in her technique drilling. He has all the potential to be doing better in this competition but as of week 5, I haven't seen any improvement in him not hitting all the moves so hard. I had the same issue with Joey, more or less. He didn't have great technique either with flexed feet and improper leg action and a mediocre frame but it was only called out by the judges in his samba too, funny enough, and it never really got better. Shoot even Nev had his issues with his frame as well. His movements weren't as harsh as Harry's due to him having a ballet background, but they weren't entirely graceful either. Her only partner that she has actually choreographed well for and taught well was JoJo.

I do wish he was partnered with someone who hasn't had an experienced dancer in a while/ever so we could see some variety. I hope there is improvement for next week because I want Harry to do well, but it really feels like both Val and Jenna have massive egos this year and it is rubbing a lot of people, including myself, the wrong way. There has been a lot of negative discourse around this season but I will say that the root of it has stemmed from the Chmerkovskiy clan and their partnerships.

If Jimmy Kimmel is filmed before dancing with the stars even starts, how was there a segment about Guillermo and Witney going home? Did they know Guillermo was going home before the show started?

General Discussion Carrie Ann

I so agree that the “judges are there to judge”. But I’ve just rewatching some clips and I feel CAI is just being mean…the definition of lifts, the feedback given. It’s really making it awkward and ruining the show.

They are NOT professional dancers and I know some are better than others and there are rules, but some kindness and positivity shouldn’t be that hard.
