I wasn't able to get a whole lot of dark with a basic #2 HB but I tried.

What would you guys recommend for a budget friendly iPad? I was serious about digital art so I bought a drawing tablet but since I’ve been drawing purely on my phone with my finger for the past nearly a decade it was a pain in the ass to get used to a NOT touch screen.

Plus I don’t know jack about computers/laptops so every time I try to draw it was trying to navigate both the hardware and the software. It made my art block sooo much worse than it already was.

I think having an iPad would be more my lane, does anyone have any recommendations? My one priority is pen latency, I hate the gap between the pen and screen so bad, so preferably with the closest pen latency.

Kind of scared of "messing it up" at this point, really not sure how to do the hair as it's so black and I'm working with pencils. Any advice?

Also, if anyone can help with anything I've missed in terms of proportion or something please let me know. To me I can't tell why the smile in the photo is more mischievous which I'm struggling to capture.

Thank you!!

For an assignment in my history class, I was asked to choose an inventor who made an impact during the Industrial Revolution. I chose Sarah Guppy, who was believed to have made the first patent for the modern suspension bridge and toaster. I also had to draw her, and I think I accidentally made her really adorable.
