Idk if this is the correct place to ask, but has anyone been able to get this game running from an iso? Might just be me being dumb, but dosbox, virtualbox, compatibility mode, etc. just never worked. I saw a thread a few years ago about the game, that it was hard to get running and no ones been successful. Not sure if its a 'solved' issue though. I did finally get it running on PCem after giving up like 2 years ago and then remembering it again recently. Just wanna know if I'm misremembering someone saying the iso files out there weren't working or if, in my frustration, I hallucinated that whole thread.

DOSBox seems to ignore that entirely [1]. But I don't get why. VGA_VerticalTimer should call

And pel_panning is filled according to write_p3c0 source text. Everything is in place. Result = nothing.

I'm unfortunatelly missing the real hardware. It will take some weeks to get the reference PC. If on real hardware my program works, this is a bug.

Workarounds are welcome. If this is a bug, it will take eternity to update each and every fork, retroarch and other embedded dosbox instances. If possible, DOSBox compatibility is desirable to retain. Of course, non-smooth horizontal scroll will work. But vertical scroll working smooth and horizontal scroll working in jumps, what a disappointment it is.

How exactly do I have a real floppy drive mounted and then boot into c? I can't boot into c and then mount my real drive and every time I boot into a c drive img it unmounts eveything. Please help

I'm trying to run the game BARS (1994) on my PC before I write a script to run it on my aging mothers PC because it was one of her favorite games. The download came from https://dosgames.com/game/bars/ and has both a "start.bat" script as well as a basic exe script and 18 different numbered files.

I mount C:\bars\ as C:, CD into it and attempt to run both the batch script and the executable directly.

The editor's review on DOSGames said I had to change the "File Modified" date to 1994 so I did that using Powershell:

I still get the "Error reading file" error.

Like the title says I can not type in a big A with Shift+A, Caps Lock+A works. Other combinations Shift+Letter work without problems.

DOSBox is except for some crt filtering in default install stage. I never touched the key mapper afaik.

Does anyone know a solution or where to start looking?

i've spent the better part of a day trying to get this working. the best i can do is get dosbox-x running freedos to ping another VM on the same machine, but can't get out past that. i can telnet a telnet BBS using serial1=modem listenport 23, but can't get tcp/ip to work using mtcp. i'm thinking it's a windows11 problem because it doesn't work on 86box either.

First: AWE32 works under DOS just fine. I have the EMU8k firmware available and loaded.

Second: AWE32 works on windows with SB16 drivers.

But if I try to run the actual AWE32 Installer to get the EMU8k to work under Windows, it doesn't. It hangs on "sbawe32.drv" from SYSTEM.INI.

I've tried messing with A20 settings, CPU cores, types, cycles, etc. Nothing seems to work with that.

Hi, i was wandering if anyone here can help me.

I am trying to play a game and when i click continue once it just continues forever.

I read this can be something to do with the cycles, so i changed that to be fixed at 5000 and it still happens.

Would love to hear of any ideas of how to solve this as ive had no luck in the past 3 days!

Is there a way to put actual full screen? or I'm stuck with the small window?

I've been going through like different forks of dosbox to see if any of them would work as a windows 98 emulator (W/ Pentium 2 and Voodoo graphics). The one that I feel like works the best right now is DOSbox Pure, but it has one big issue when I try to play a 3D game; the mouse will just straight up disappear when playing these kind of games, which makes navigating menus a pain. Granted, I can still move the mouse around and click and things which makes the problem alleviated in a game like "Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius" where the menu items change looks when they're highlighted by the (invisible) mouse. But for a game like "Lego Island" where the menu items remain static when highlighted, it makes the game flat out unplayable and forces me to shut the emulator off improperly because I can't quit the game. This problem also happened when I used DOSBox-X.

I am trying to play Igor: Objective Uikokahonia through DOSBOX-X, but I cant use the controls and I am getting a error message from the game about some IBM ROM.
Browsing through the web I've found some ROMs and hints suggesting that DOSBOX-X needs to know the path of this ROM somewhere in the configuration.

But I dont where to put the info, I've looked in the config files, and in the configurations inside DOSBOX-X but there arent any clues to where to put the pathinfo.

Am I completely off here, and/or can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm on Windows 11 trying to run the ISO file I got from My Abandonware using DOSBox Staging. The guides I've seen online don't cover what to do with an ISO file.

I've right-clicked the ISO file and mounted it, and I can see the files inside the ISO. How do I access these files to run the .exe from DOSBox Staging?

Running TR1 3dfx version on DOSBox-Staging while running Windows 98 SE on DOSBox-X

I recently returned to CyberMage: Darklight Awakening, one of my favorite DOS games from the 90s, and decided to do something about the part that has aged the most: the controls.

After a lot of reverse engineering and testing, I’ve released CyberMageModern v1.0.0.

It keeps the original game intact but adds modern WASD movement, full mouse look, mouse-based combat and vehicle controls, custom crosshairs, and several other control improvements.

The project also includes a preconfigured DOSBox Staging 0.83.0 setup for modern Windows, including borderless fullscreen, Alt+Enter / Alt+Tab support and a simple launcher.

The installer detects supported CyberMage 1.01F installation media, verifies the original files and patches them locally. The original game itself is not included.

If anyone here still plays CyberMage or is interested in DOSBox setups for old FPS games, I’d be interested to hear how it works for you.
