Events $1 Eats Coming to Colfax
Hey all! I am involved with the Colfax and Bluebird Business Districts. They are launching Anything Can Happen on Colfax. It includes a series called Grubhops, where one food item is $1 up and down Colfax.
Next week that includes $1 mediterranean food on Tuesday (Shish Kabob, Yahyas and Gyro it Up at Tight Ends) and $1 lattes on Thursday (Convict Coffee, Besitos, Good Bones and Doppio). Starts at 6pm and 8am, respectively. Supplies good while they last.
If you've been looking for a reason to come back to Colfax, this is it. Hope to see you next week

General Discussion Sadboy Ice Cream pt. 1
This week I picked up a couple of pints from Sadboy’s drop. The two flavors are Cry-nnoli and Black Bottom Banana Bread. They are online only flavors for this week. The pictures below are of the Cry-nnoli. Website Description:
Ricotta Ice Cream + Orange Zest + Cinnamon Sugar Cannoli Shells + Candied Pistachios + Dark Chocolate Shards
Overall this one was pretty tasty. You can definitely taste the ricotta cheese and pops of orange zest really help balance out the savory cheese aspect. The crunch from the pistachios is nice and they are dispersed evenly throughout. This is probably my 8th or so flavor from sadboy. 7/10

Question? Pumpkin Soup?
Okay folks, it’s soup season! I’m looking for a specific soup, that yes, I could make myself but I’m lazy. Posted two examples above. Dairy free.. typically coconut milk based. Doesn’t need veggies or chickpeas but it’s a bonus. Anything like this in Denver?

General Discussion HELP ID this location
HELP ID this location.
Can anyone identify this bar from the background details?
Not super important - just a curious detail to know, and I figured someone here might know.
Thanks in advance. Old friend no longer on the planet - doing this for his younger sister...
--
Denver or Detroit are suspected locations - this was around Christmas time, judging by the music in the original video he sent.
Details to consider:
Framed photos on the wall.
The framed red or orange jersey. (devils or broncos?)
The unique ceiling tiles.

Restaurant Reviews Flip & Howl Burger Kitchen
What a place! Amazing cold smoked Colorado wagyu burgers, gluten free options for days including GF fryers, bomb-ass house-made fries, and now even killer wolf t-shirts.
I spoke with the chef, Chris, who told me all about their super complicated french fry process and that he hand-drew the shirt, which is awesome.
Check them out!

Recommendations Best Place for a Cozy Lunch
As the title says.. I’m looking for recommendations for a solid cozy lunch on this dreary fall day. Not set on any specific type of food, I just want something delicious that will make me feel warm and nice inside lol. Open to any area of town - bonus points if I can snag a table with my computer and work while I eat.

Question? Anyone know what happened to Hip Hop Ice Cream Shop on 29th in SloHi?
We're in the neighborhood just south and we would take our kids there every couple of weeks. The sign on the door says temporary, but I have seen that so many times on food business that never return - and its been 3ish weeks. They missed that last heat wave we had.

Recommendations Vibe
Hi
I’m looking for recommendations for a romantic restaurant in the downton area.
We’ll be there mid December, I’m looking for somewhere with sort of low lit mood lighting and booths, we don’t drink so the focus is on a relaxed vibe and the food!
Thankyou!

Photos Rise & Shine Biscuits (A Redemption Story)
Last week I brought great shame upon my family when I tried to give a quick shout out to Rise & Shine Biscuit Kitchen for their breakfast sandwich I enjoyed. While most of the response was fairly positive, I was blasted in the comments for the quality of the photo attached.
Well I took this subs criticisms to heart, and scheduled a free photo shoot with Rise & Shine to hopefully redeem myself.

Recommendations Are there any salad bars anymore?
I’m longing for a nice big salad bar with soup and breads and a soft serve machine, like there used to be at Healthy Habits and Sweet Tomatoes. Are there any around - or even a regular restaurant with an expansive, old fashioned salad bar in them?

Question? Recommendations based on Malinche audio bar
I moved to the city a few months ago and am still struggling to find bars/restaurants that really feel like they have a personality to them—both in terms of menu and in terms of ambiance and space.
I’m sure they exist, but I’m curious if anyone has recommendations for bars/restaurants that have the intimate feel and intentional ambiance that you find at a place like Malinche Audio Bar. Stumbled upon it by pure luck and it’s quickly become my favorite spot.
Trying not to sound pretentious, but it just feels like 90% of the bars and restaurants I’ve tried seem a bit…sterile? Either they’re some sort of elevated chain restaurant or a generic brewery, or a space built to shuffle in as many people in and out as possible.
I know I’m painting with broad strokes and there are surely some great spots to eat or drink at that I simply haven’t found because I don’t know where to look. What are your favorites? Bonus points if they’re near LoDo—but not a dealbreaker!

Question? Gallup Cafe B&G Recipe?
I moved away quite some time ago, but I used to eat at Gallop Cafe quite often.
Does anyone know if or how I could find the recipe for their PBR Biscuits and Gravy?
That and the yucca bread from Lena are two things I really miss! (I’ve found a close enough recipe but not as good if texture.)

Question? Is there somewhere like butcher block but with less pork?
Looking for somewhere cheap and delicious like butcher block but they have pork green chili and pork gravy and pork sausage and pork bacon., etc. The only non pork option for meat is chicken breast which is good too but I'm hoping to find somewhere with cheap biscuits and gravy, French toast, pancakes, etc but with non pork gravy mostly but non pork green chili would be good too. And maybe chicken sausage or turkey sausage and/or turkey bacon options as well or just any other non-pork proteins
