Discussion Turn the PA speaker volume down on flights
Decible level 150 is not necessary for the onboard PA. Measure your volume levels, and set proper adjustments. That's all.

Was really wild. Was number 3 for upgrade with 4 seats left. Was in main cabin because I liked it better than the comfort options.
Behold! Upgrades process and it shows this…. Main first.. but In a row 8 comfort seat.
Had comfort upgrades turned off and now I’m NOT on the first class upgrade list.
Asked the agent and they said I wasn’t on the list but they’d put me back. Glad I checked because I would have been passed over.
Just a strange quirk to keep an eye on.

Someone made a starlink WiFi tracker where you can check if your next flight has Starlink.

Had a return flight booked for Saturday. Learned I could skip late Friday meeting and tried to move to Friday. +$750 for one way change. $100 more than just booking a one way same flight via google flights. So, I cancel return flight once first leg is flown, get ~$300 credit. Then rebook, one way flight that I wanted for only the credit plus $250. Saved ~$500. This is out of hand, Delta - so unfriendly to (loyal) customers.

Not specific to just Delta, but saw it happen on my recent Delta flight.
What is the logic to needing to have the headrests lowered during take off and landing? Other aspects make sense - seats up, trays up, items stowed and secured
However, the headrests are a secured part of the seat.
I'm taller, so my skull generally sits above the seat a bit and the lowered greatest can be in my lower neck to shoulder blade
If things start moving and shaking my brain stem is basically pivoting off the top of the seat and I'm a bobblehead doll.
I personally would feel a lot more secure and safe if I had something help brace the back of my head - like the headrest
Cars added the adjustments to improve the safety of this dynamic, but airplanes kind of force the opposite dynamic with a one size for everyone approach and I really didn't get it
What am I missing here?

I've had a platinum skymiles card for about 2 years and I've been thinking about cancelling it and just going with a generic platinum amex instead because I'm not sure the benefits are in it for me, particularly given the high annual fee. I don't fly very often but I've achieved silver status with Delta both years and I am currently not far off from gold (some flight purchases but mostly general credit card purchases). It was my understanding that this card would allow me to board in zone 5, give a free checked bag to me and any companions traveling with me, and also potentially grant me an upgrade to first class or comfort if available (knowing obviously that there are generally far higher status medallion members than me on any given flight I'm on so this is low to no chance).
The only time I was given an upgrade to comfort was earlier this year, but the flight ended up being cancelled so I've never actually gotten an upgrade.
I (and my spouse) had a couple flights this week and noticed our initials weren't on the upgrade list after checking in. I asked one help desk agent at the airport about it and he said it's because my husband didn't have a skymiles number (he did, and his miles have already hit his account). After I told my husband what was said, he asked the gate agent for our flight and she told him it's because I didn't have the right credit card to get an upgrade.
Is this true? It sounded like BS to me but I figured I would ask more seasoned travelers for their opinions.

The daytime window-shade thread here turned into an argument about who gets to control the light, but I think there’s a bigger reason people reacted so strongly.
A lot of modern flying seems designed around making everyone forget they’re on an airplane.
Close the shades. Dim the cabin. Put on headphones. Watch a screen. Try to sleep. Arrive.
That makes sense on an overnight flight. On a daytime flight, though, looking out the window is one of the few parts of flying that still feels genuinely interesting. For some passengers it’s also the entire reason they chose and paid for a window seat.
Obviously, nobody should point direct sunlight into another passenger’s face for ten hours. But “be considerate about glare” feels very different from treating a dark cabin as the default and requiring everyone to close the shades.
Maybe I’m in the minority, but I’d rather airlines manage specific glare problems than turn every long flight into artificial nighttime.
For the frequent flyers and FAs here: has the expectation actually changed, or are individual crews just handling this differently?

If a dark submarine like cabin is the experience everyone supposedly wants, why isn’t that the experience Delta advertises?
Every single photo in the “Onboard Experience” section of Delta.com shows the window shades open. Even the woman sleeping in the first photo has hers open!
Common sense and courtesy should prevail. If the sun is blasting directly into someone’s face or reflecting off their screen, absolutely, be considerate and lower the shade.
But courtesy works both ways. If you want to sleep in the middle of the day, bring an eye mask. Your preference for darkness shouldn’t automatically override my preference for a window view or natural light.
But to the flight attendant on that 1 p.m. flight who demanded the shade be closed because Delta promises a “calm cabin,” I’d argue that Delta’s own advertising tells a different story.

I recently started as an MUE at Delta TechOps and I'm curious about the long term career progression from this position.
Is there a ladder to move up within MUE, such as higher classifications or lead positions, or is it generally a role you move out of to advance? Has anyone started as an MUE and moved into other TechOps positions? I'm curious what opportunities are available and what a career path from MUE looks like.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's worked as an MUE or is familiar with the position and what their experience has been like.

I know they don't have seatback TV's, but I'm curious if you can watch live TV on your phone for free. Deciding between a Delta Connection and Southwest flight at the same time. Can't seem to find any information about this online.

Edit: Comfort Plus Seats Purchased
Last weekend, my spouse and I flew SLC to DEN round-trip with our 5-year-old and 1-year-old. We purchased a separate seat for our 1-year-old since they’re almost 2, want to sit like their older sibling, and we wanted the extra space.
Our seats weren’t assigned until a couple of hours before departure, and on both flights, our 1-year-old was seated away from us.
I brought it up with the gate agents and flight attendants, who said they’d sort it out, but nothing was done. Not wanting to make a fuss, I held our 1-year-old on my lap both flights, leaving the paid seat unused.
I’ve submitted a complaint requesting a refund for the unused seat on both flights. Is that reasonable? Has anyone had success getting refunded in a similar situation?
Edit:
Sorry, need to clarify a few points. I purchased comfort plus seats for both flights. First flight, my spouse and older child were sat next to each other and myself and 1 year old were placed in middle seats in different rows. Second flight, three of us were together and one year old in seat by themselves. On the second flight I know a parent could have sat there and fixed it but younger one would have been a nuisance if mom was away and I did t want to leave my pregnant wife with the two kids. At this point, I was frustrated about the situation.

Someone posted recently about an hour layover in Detroit. I’ve got 34 minutes, but only like 15 until boarding closes. Landing in B10 and boarding in A40-something.
How cooked am I? Suggestions?
I’m AA Platinum and saw a promo match to be executive pro for four months.
I would like to do it but I also want to do a status match with Delta start of next year.
I’m wondering if moving from platinum to executive pro via AA status match promo might remove my ability to do the delta status match later? I’m Delta Platinum.
Went from the plane to the new Sky Club for a bit then over to my outbound plane.
Shoutout to Demetri for being awesome!

Downgraded at the very last minute today, and instead of issuing automatic refunds, they make me fill out a form. ON TOP OF THAT, they bumped down my boarding group from zone 3 to zone 6. And guess what?? Nothing I can do about it.
If someone is spending their hard earned money on a trip, and an issue occurs where they do not get the service they paid for, AUTOMATIC REFUND. ALLOW THEM SOME PERKS. GIVE A CREDIT.
The number of times I’ve bought a slightly more expensive ticket in the hopes of being upgraded, just for them to bar seats, or just for them to tell me I can’t be upgraded.
Waste of my money. Waste of my time.
They love scamming people into thinking because they have delta one and you can accrue points easily that they are there for the customer.
JetBlue ONLY from now on.
Edit: I have no expectation of being guaranteed an upgrade. More so frustrated that they made certain seats unavailable to me BEFORE I purchased the ticket, if there are circumstances that make an upgrade impossible, then they should stop offering specific tickets. (Also know that will never happen). Also frustrated at their lack of good customer support — it’s odd to make the customer file for a refund when it’s a problem on their end. Small, but important details IMO.
I was frustrated and turned to reddit. This is really just a rant about corporate greed 😭😭😭

So this one is a bit of a mystery: I accidentally left my phone in one of the cubbies on a Delta one flight terminal E at Boston Logan. Since then the lost phone has appeared to move from gate to gate at terminal E on the tarmac itself for the last 12 hours.
Neither Delta nor Massport seems to know why or where it is, customer service is useless. I’ve tried calling and pinging to no avail. I’m not near the airport so I can’t go by and find out for myself. Any tips or thoughts?

I used miles to upgrade from Economy to Comfort for an international flight months ago. Since then, I have not seen a chance to upgrade from Comfort to Premium Economy. Seats that are open on the website have an X when I look at my reservation.
Can I only do one upgrade per flight?

Delta app show all passengers boarded. No one is boarded. An exit sign has gone MIA and we cannot board. Wtf

I'm sitting in a Delta One seat from west coast to Japan and the seat has no entertainment (screen not working) and no power (outlets also not working). Seat reclines fine but I can't use the entertainment or charge any devices. What is appropriate compensation? This is my first time in Delta One as I usually fly the Japanese airlines, so quite the bummer.
Editing to add that FAs have tried to fix but nothing seems to work.
