Discussion 💭🗯️ If let’s say in the future you were describing how the mid 2020s were, how would you describe it?
If you had to describe the culture in the mid 2020s in a looking at the past point of view, how would you describe this era?

Fragmented.
Like how many boomers look back at the social conditions of the 70s.

I can't speak anything about pop culture, because I'm not a part of it. I don't listen to music, follow news or anything that happens in the outside worls. Can only speak for my own experiences.
2020s will probably be the best decade in my life. Every year had a unique personality and there's been something memorable about every year starting from 2020. As covid happened my life was on an uphill trajectory. I applied to trades school in 2021 and got a degree in 2023. 2023 was a year where I made so many good summer memories with my friends. 2024 is when I met my long term girlfriend and that was a truly memorable year. 2025 was just a year of pure enjoyment. I found a job which led me to having alot of money. We could afford to travel now and make more new memories. We moved to a sepearate house and we still live there happily. 2026 is when I got accepted into engineering college which I studied very hard for and now a new exciting chapter has started in my life.
I'm incredibly happy to experience this. 2020s are truly amazing and full of excitement. And the rest of this decade is promising.. I'm full of optimism

Agreed. However fragmented it may be, I also do not believe this decade is some hellhole decade like doomers believe it to be. I’m not saying it’s a golden age, but it also isn’t that bad.
Doomers in Reddit love to complain about everything despite living a far better life than people centuries ago.

I wish people saw the good and focused on it more. I think my happiness comes from the lack of social media and news. I don't really care about anything in pop culture.. perhaps redditors are social media addicted doomers who are obsessed with politics. You can't be happy if you care about anything that happens online

You still had to stop and waste time scrolling on the internet on a little computer in your hands, they hadn’t figured out yet how to just connect to the hive mind directly (though they did have those glasses or whatever shit like that).

I feel like the mid 2020s will be remembered as the era when the internet started feeling less real. AI everywhere, people constantly chasing the next trend, and nostalgia for stuff that happened like 3 years ago

Music has indeed been great this decade. I would have never imagined how much music would change back in 2016
