Discussion 💭🗯️ Will the 2030s Be the Peak of Western Civilization?

Is it just me, or does it feel like the 2030s could be the peak of the Western world before everything begins to plateau? From technology and music to Hollywood, culture, and society as a whole, I have this feeling that we're approaching a high point in Western civilization. I can't quite explain why, but does anyone else feel the same way?

For it to be a peak that would mean the 2010s and 2020s are leading to a peak...it would mean that as we speak theres "positive growth" in whatever we define as Western Civilization

Does it deel like weve been experiencing positive growth in terms of civilization?

I feel we are plateauing more then anything, I dont see much of a rise anymore, we dont have a new michael jackson or a new apple type of product breaking in!

You strike me as an extremely young person if you think pop culture is the gauge we use to measure civilization

I fear western civilization has peaked decades ago and is steadily declining year after year. Can't wait to get eviscerated by Palantir mercenary bots.

Western Civilization is over 2000 years old. Peak? Who knows?

Also kind of depends what we call "Western Civilization." Is it being Roman? If so that's not really a thing anymore. Nor is Hellenism. Nor is the Enlightenment. Nor is Feudalism. Lumping together a variety of civilizations, religions and cultures under the collective heading of "the West" is kind of lazy and self-aggrandizing.

I’m like, “Sweetie, Western Civilization peaked in like 1910.”

Absolutely not.

why so?

There is nothing whatsoever to suggest this is the case IMO.

2030s will be a unique era trust me

It will be severely disappointing. I'll grant, Trump being gone one way or another will be awesome, but I fear at least the early 2030s will start off much more conservative... and we'll still have to deal with Musk, Yarvin, Thiel and the rest.

That was the 1980s-2000s. I cannot at all conceive how we were still in the ascendant over the last decade.

I think people in every decade in the past 500 years have thought that about the decade they're approaching,

Why do you speak for everyone else? Speak for yourself
