Discussion 💭🗯️ Musicians whose careers stalled after Covid

Post image

Camila Cabello was huge 2017-2019, but her popularity really dwindled post Covid. What other musicians were popular in the 2010s but fizzled after 2020s?

They’ve been telling me Normani is the next global superstar for a decade now

Normani was never a thing even in america, her only somewhat hit is collaboration with sam smith

It came out in 2024 lmao. It was a solid album but the momentum was long gone by that point

Yeah, that seemed to be the issue. That and the fact that she said she didn’t really like her biggest hit, Motivation, before her album was released.

If she had just gone ahead and released a bunch of Motivation-esque pop songs in 2020 like everyone wanted her to I firmly believe she would’ve reached superstar status. All of the dominos were there waiting to be pushed over

But she HATED that song with a passion and both her parents had cancer so she didn’t release new music for years

Omg , poor thing, both of her parents had cancer?? That’s awful.

Yep at the same time, right before and during early Covid. So the exact time that her star was at its peak (post-Motivation/pre-Covid) is when she was dealing with this

Then couple that with the constant attacks she was getting on social media and demands to put out music she didn’t like (she hated Motivation and didn’t want to release it at all) and it’s no surprise her career stalled

She had middling success. Love lies, motivation, wild side

I don’t think Normani ever had a high point in her career. Which sucks, bc she’s talented.

I think both of normani's parents died after motivation was released

Normani's issue wasn't covid it was consistency. Everyone waited 6 years for her debut album to come out and by that time we lost interest
