Yeah unless they’re very basic clothes or get referenced in lore I tend to think of cosmetics as separate universes. Especially Rift outfits, there’s no point in his life where Trapper ran around trying to kill people with hockey equipment.
Also, the feral Russian lady who lived in the woods during WWI was never a member of the staff arcane academy, but within the multiverse, there may have been a version of Ana who was the Furfur Headmistress.
Or they're mental fantasies, like most of Legions.

I don't know, her bio states she likes to travel a lot and reach new people with her songs, I could definitely see her go overseas for the experience rather than because of fame
Im assuming she'd make regional news (where does she come from exactly? Im assuming the American Midwest) but not national.

That's true but by that point she already had two album of the year grammys and the most awarded pop album at that time. Nowhere as big as she is now but still very big.
Though Alan Wake is only there as an extension of his imprisonment in the Writer's Room, and I think Remedy has confirmed that they see his DBD appearance as canon so he, at least, has a way out.

Leon’s RE4 skin still having his jacket means he never made it far into the mission before being taken, that version of the world most definitely got overtaken by Saddler 😭
Now imagine they do a limited series where each episode focused in on the loss these people are dealing with. A real sense of dread & doom. All while we know what fate they went too.
And in a couple cases, their universe is worse off by the Entity having taken them. For example, Lara was taken after she witnessed the ritual that proved Sam was a perfect host for Himiko. That means, in that version of TR2013, literally everyone Lara cared about died. She wouldn't be there to stop the end of the world a couple years later aswell.. her universe was completely destroyed because of the Entity.
The survivors are being infinitely hunted and brutally killed in the fog by an ever growing roster of serial killers, aliens, monsters, ghosts, and machines.
I understand your sentiment, but the feelings of the survivors families, friends, and colleagues is possibly the least tragic aspects of this games lore.
Especially in the first few years of DBD History, the whole point is that survivors taken to the entity's realm are people who won't be missed. Dwight has no friends and was deliberately left in the woods by his coworkers. Meg only has her sick mother back home. Jane is a talkshow host, but only on local public access, and she's taken after her show goes on hiatus. I think Kate is very similar to Jane in that way: she was a rising star, but the entity took her before it would have been a national or even state-wide headline.

Would be a headline i would ABSOLUTELY read the article for while thinking "this just sounds like Nick Cage being Nick Cage" and not think more into it.
To be fair, in-universe, Alan was already missing for years as he was trapped in the Dark Place. He gets into the Fog by trying to write himself out of the Dark Place.
So going from the Dark Place to the Fog wouldn't make any difference.
But importantly, Nic Cage being in the Entity's realm PROVES that the Entity does ~not~ take every version of a survivor from every version of the multiverse (because our Nic Cage has not been swallowed by a black fog wherein he is murdered forever).
It could be that the Nic Cage we see in the fog are only the versions of Nic Cage who are both:
1. Has-beens &
2. Willing to get tricked by a cult to get back into Hollywood.
And therefore would not be a person of enough import to cause major investigation.
Or, our "real" Nic Cage is just a fake robot/clone situation and the real Nic is in fact trapped in endless suffering purgatory. This is obviously the most logical conclusion
I think that "the Entity doesn't take every version of them" has been pretty well-established since the beginning of the crossovers. After all, Laurie and Michael were taken from the end of the first movie, meaning that these versions never continued into any part of the branching Halloween timeline.
There's also Wesker being taken from the end of RE5, even though the playable Chris is from the Spencer Mansion so he can't be there to defeat him.
Jane is a lot more than you think, shes Oprah, like actually Oprah, and the daughter of an incredibly famous woman. She was also taken at the start of her midlife crisis (not that shes wouldnt have died if she hadnt been taken), which coincided with the height of her career.

I think Jane was taken not because of her not being famous, but because of how dangerously close she was getting to the Fog. It's mentioned in the Tomes that, because of interviewing Zarina's mother in an episode of her program and the whole black fog thing being mentioned, Jane's program became something of a lighthouse for people who had also lost loved ones or people they knew to the Fog. The existence of the Entity was becoming public knowledge thanks to her, and if there's a constant in the Entity's behavior, it's that it wants to remain completely unknown. By taking Jane, the Entity makes sure it's existence remains a secret only known by a few people.
Ill be honest i did NOT know this lore and while I stand by that Jane was taken during a hiatus to minimize the impact of her "death," I LOVE the idea that the Entity was motivated to take her specifically because she was so close to finding it out.
I think that would be more likely for a few reasons. The biggest of which is that if the entity feeds off of human suffering, stealing away a well known musician that millions of people look up to would definitely contribute to human suffering. Though, that being said, I'm not sure if the entity can feed off of people outside of its realm, so that may be a moot point.
I'm pretty sure the entity does, and has fed upon the psychic energy created outside the realm. Overlaps have been described as places were the entity feeds upon the the dark emotions accumulated.
I'm guessing it just takes longer for the entity to feed or it's not as nourishing compared to the energy created in the fog
her lore says that she won folk music competitions whenever she participated in them and then she travelled around inna lil beater to meet fans and make some new mates.
she also performed at festivals and bars so she was prolly known inna few states but not enough internationally or for a lot of america.

If I recall correctly, her Tokyo Headliner outfit says it's what she wore when she performed alongside a girl group in Japan. Was a huge show too full of people crying and screaming for her. That sounds like she's pretty famous. I'll have to look again
She's obviously patterned after Taylor Swift, but her lore makes it clear she's nowhere near that famous. She's kind of indie level, drifting around freely to play wherever she wants.
Maybe? She's a country singer with enough of a following to make her have a mental health crisis, plus a few albums. But we also know she prefers herself on the smaller end. My guess is she's probably more of a "local" thing, so news whatever region she lives in, but maybe not national.
The 4 I'd sat make national are Jane, Adam, Thalita, and Renato. Jane's a famous TV personality like Oprah, and Adam saved the life of another person in a train derailment, plus being just a generally good person to the point of being minorly famous. Thalita is a former high class model turned business owner, and having both her and her brother dissapear at the same time during a major festival would get attention.
I'm sure there'll be alot of talk on her disappearance at least in America but after that i doubt she'll get talked about as much.
I really have no idea how popular she is. I'm guessing she's not entirely unheard of in America but not many knowing her internationally. I'm not an expert on her lore though so i could be wrong, pls let me know if i am i don't wanna accidentally spread anymore misinformation. There's enough of that in the community
Something to keep in mind with the Kate lore is that she originally was meant to come with Leatherface as an original survivor. Obviously that was changed, but it would seem her original intent was to be from the 1970s and traveling via truck playing songs where she could, so in that original version a transient drifter would definitely not be noticed going missing. A very musical hobo if you will lol.
Not famous enough to get updated hairstyles. The side part is so old. Her new rift skin is cute though. Kate was my first P100 and I’d like her to just have a casual bun for once.
I’m a Kate main, been so since she was released and I actually never thought of this question. I always assumed she was playing at random bars/venues before the entity came for her. I don’t think she was ever famous, I think she was just an aspiring star. The cosmetic thing like.. I don’t think they have anything to do with what they’ve done in the past. Her Japanese pop star skin doesn’t necessarily mean she performed overseas. I think the cosmetics characters have.. have are literally just cosmetics. I don’t think too hard on it.
From my understanding of the news, depends what part of the world she hails from. A missing white woman gets more attention in some parts of the world than others. Ultimately, I'd say do whatever makes your handcanon happy. I like to think she was past her peak & on the downswing of her career, so her disappearance didn't upset many people much
Id say Kate would likely be reality signing show finalist level famous. She'd have a fan base but she wouldn't be selling out arenas on her own and for festivals and the like you would always see the reality shows name next to hers.
As a Kate main, famous enough that she needs more good skins!!!! The one in this months new rift is a great start. Doesn’t need to be super flashy, something that helps blend in with bushes would be nice. (I play survivor and use outfits to help hide better, not be flashy) like that sable one with the glowing blue wings? Hell no. I ain’t hiding in plain sight with those. Survivor players don’t use bushes nearly enough, many maps you can fit in fairly well if you do it right, it’s a matter of if you get noticed.
The nostromo, the gunslinger saloon map, the forest maps from the movie theater and FNAF, as well as the crashed ship from the Singularity, all have bushes everywhere you can crouch in and killers regularly walk right by me. I love seeing these maps when I play because I don’t do the normal “loop and hop through windows” routine. As long as your scratch marks don’t give you away, you can disappear. So long as your character itself doesn’t stand out and give it away. Darker colors help. Mega dnd outfit in particular is also spectacular at bush hiding.

Some of her skins implies she did a few collabs with other artists but that's about it
