Fire's edge

This is my first post so apologies if i do something wrong.

I have over 600+ hours in the second game and played the first one when it came out on pc. Played it until the end.

Now recently i bought the game again on xbox with the fire's edge dlc.

Duelist and runaway... they feel so broken???

i had them on level one without any trinkets and mild quirks, and nearly DESTROYED the miller???

i go into a long quest and DESTROY shambler and collector under 5 minutes??

Without camping??? Lmaoo

Seriously im glad they did justice to our lovely orphan and perfectionist french Lady.. love it when she crits the collector with "the boot" and barks "ÇA SUFFIT!"

what are some comps you guys recommend for these two?? im having a blast playing this dlc hope they dont nerf them lmaoo

The art of Dismas in champion dungeon

As many may know, the highwayman falls off quite a lot in champion dungeons due to the lack of armor penetration, and relatively mid hp.
Duelist advance as the skill it self falls off due to zero accuracy progression AND champion enemies itself
hitting like a fucking bus. It doesn’t help that duelist advance as a skill itself doesn’t offer mark self to attract attention and you have to beg for the rng gods to actually allow any ripostes from happening. Also -20% damage on each advance means that the hwm can not consistently kill off dangerous backlines alone.

Here introduce the Gunwayman!

Let’s look at some stats( blood moon, counting prot to hp)

Courtier: 24 hp
Bone Arabist: 38
Swine wretch:28
Drummer: 35
Madman: 33
Shaman: 28
Pelagic grouper: 33
Crone: 30
Virago: 66
Hunter: 35

Let’s then look at pistol shot, sitting at -15% damage target 234, it doesn’t look significant by itself. You would be correct, expect we should then look at the trinkets HWM have access to. And here we introduce the belt buckle. 20% ranged damage, 15 acc, this new bad boy gives hwms’ ranged skill set to evolve. Assuming hwm gets 35%/40% percent damage flat increase from trinkets, a crit on pistol shot will reach 28. However, it’s not enough for lots of enemies list here. I would then like to introduce the new trinket, vice crown. It gives the hwm a base increase of 45% damage bonus, if you have camp skills/ spent a turn activating tracking shots, you will get 65% flat increase. Now HWM can do ridiculous amount of damage. You are able to crit for 34, and when you use grapeshot blast you are able to deal 20 in damage for crit-) the hp of a new born tentacle for a shambler fight.

Let’s then see how high highwayman can go, hwm without interactive damage quirks and curios can get approximately 95% increase in damage after camping, tracking shots. Dealing 40 in one single pistol shot, more than enough to kill everyone on the list except Virago.

For team comp I will recommend maa hwm vestal and finally jester. Jester will give hwm the crits and ability to outspend everyone. Melee hwm is cool but ranged one shots is an objectively better way to play the hwm in normal champion runs. The hwm is very versatile in this context since you can bring in a melee skill such as advance or open vein to counter Aoe and high prot enemies respectively. For skills I will go for pistol shot, tracking shots, grape blast, and open vein or with advance.

For maps, gunwayman excels at the Weald, but proves lacking in high prot areas such as the ruins and cove( in this case, switch jester with HM, his Debuff mark is great) The warrens is pretty sketchy but works fine if you goes a little melee( vice crown/crystal powder+ random accuaracy trinket)

[DD 1] Discussion So did the latest DD DLC improve the game or is it more of a variety thing?

I'm very attached and sentimental about Darkest Dungeon. I was excited about the DLC and haven't played it yet.

I'm worried because: the game is now owned by a different company or something; I read that the character's barks are lackluster; without official narration I fear it may feel off; the balance of the game is now thrown into chaos with two new heroes and a new burn mechanic; burn mechanic might feel like a mod or something as it's implemented strangely.

Is this DLC an actual improvement on the game? Does it feel shoehorned? Will the sanctity of Darkest Dungeon as I remember it at it's ~2024 state be tarnished? Or is it tasteful variety?

What do you guys reckon?

[DD 1] Discussion So I faced a Shambler for the first time in a Apprentice Quest....

Let's see...... I think I have Reynauld, Dismas, Vestal, and Bounty Hunter.

All four of them were prepared and stressed under 20.

I found a Shambler's Altar, ya see.

I read the description, ya see.

And I placed the torch, ya see.

And everything is darkness before the Shambler appeared in front of my party, ya see.

I managed them efficiently with attacking the Shambler while eliminating the tentacles, ya see.

Then one of the most unluckiest happened to my Vestal, ya see.

She refused to heal my party due to her affliction, ya see.

She got eradicated by those vermin Shambler's Tentacles, ya see.

She died while three of my characters lived for another day to tell the tale, ya see.

And I got an Ancestral's Scroll from the loot.

Tell me Travelers, is it worth it to risk one character's life over a powerful trinket?

I tried my best to save the poor lass, ya see.

I've been reading the character comics and I noticed it seems as some of the more tragic and traumatic backstories are accompanied by the stress symbol showing in something in the background (carved on the tree, the wheel of the coach, ecc...) Idk if it is a stretch on my part, what do you think?

An absolute beast of a hero, just needs risk taker and precise striker/slugger to finish it.

Dude really called my victory trifling when I beat Vvolf with a hero at death’s door and the rest at less than 10 hp.

[DD 1] Discussion I'm kind of surprised how much rare achievements Darkest Dungeon has

Post image

Steam just recently change the look of the achievements and I was curious but I end up being really surprised that there's 55 rare achievements. If I'm being honest is probably mostly DLCs or a lot of people just quit the game in the start.

[DD 1] Discussion I attempted my first ever two champion runs today

Post image
26 Upvotes

I got the game a couple weeks ago and it's a blast, but I attempted to tackle champion levels twice today with squads of the best gear and combos I could muster. I didn't even make it to the boss either time and lost two of my OG first six characters that I actually remembered the name of and everything. They're also the fifth and sixth to ever die.

Here's their stories. I walked into a Collector, which I'd killed on lower difficulties before. I did one turn of setup and then on the second turn one of the floating heads critted and bled Mauduit, then it was her turn and she died in the span of three seconds. I ran away after. Dismas went to clear out a medium in Weald and on the last battle room of the map we took like fifteen crits back to back to back from the fuckass mushrooms, and they only target Dismas and AOEd over Dismas, even my Vestle and Plauge Doc purely focusing him couldn't keep up and Reynauld just did so little damage each turn.

So Reynauld pretty much watched his bro get ripped apart by mushroom cordyceps freaks

Does anyone have some advice? I can handle Veteran level on any area consistently but any champion zones kick my ass, I've only managed to beat the Short ones. Every enemy seems immensely strong and I've tried accounting for combos between troops, effects to and from enemies in the zone, the best trinkets I have, but every enemy is a meathouse. Especially those mushroom guys, they just swallow giant hits. Is it just that I need to get good or is it bad luck or maybe I need to grind until I get some specific good trinkets? I still feel new to the game but I kick ass or I get kicked with no in between.

Later pictures are my trinkets and moves I used. I didn't even know that the light gets much worse. I could have probably gone a bit longer but jester went selfish and one shieldbarer was at deaths door and I didn't want to risk anything. (Ignore the german, lol)

[DD 2] Discussion Creating a Team need help: PD, Jester, Hellion, and Leper

I'm creating a team but I need help on how to resolve this since both Hellion and Leper got updated thinking many will have changes of strategy I had planned for this team

PD being Healer and Utility support

Jester as Combo generator and stress healer

Hellion can go offense or defense

Same goes for Leper go for offense or defense

It's conflicting for me to choose if I use Hellion as a tank for her Carcass path or Leper as Poet interchange between being Tank and DPS

Both sounds good if I want to gamble going both offense or defense, but the game does bring something interesting response to strategy...

DD1 Multiplayer mod

Is there a known multiplayer mod for DD1? I saw one that was uploaded to nexus mods recently, but it seems a bit wack.

Would people be interested in a mod that allows for multiplayer campaigns, with rosters separated by player, shared inventory and town, multiplayer dungeons and combat, so on?

Working on such a thing right now for myself and some friends, but could publish it if there was an appetite from the community.
