3 000 kms in and I still haven't seen the blind spot sensors even once

Driving a 2026 Dacia Santero Eco-G 120 automatic, Journey edition.

I find it very weird and I don't know whether this is a my car thing, or whether I have been incredibly lucky not to have had a ciclist come dangerously near to me from behind in 3 000 kilometres, but I can swear I don't even know what noise or alert the car is supposed to do when detecting something with such sensors because, to my knowledge, it hasn't done it even once. I knew when I bought it that this car wasn't of the highest quality, but I did want a car with these sensors on and specifically asked the dealer whether it had them, to which he said yes and I indeed see the icon in both mirrors, but that's all I've seen about it.

Whenever I am a passenger in a modern car, I see those sensors flare up all the time something gets behind it, so I am truly puzzled at whether the sensors are just poor at their job or whether it has in fact something to do with my car.

What are your thoughts on this? If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate if you could tell me what noise or alert I am supposed to hear or see, because I haven't seen the mirrors flare up like in other cars and perhaps I am looking for wrong.

EDIT: So... I just went to my car and, as it turns out, the blind sensors were TURNED OFF by default. Wtf? This is such a weird choice; I assumed all ADAS systems were turned on by default.

Right after turning them on, they indeed flared up detecting the.. Wall behind where it is parked, so I guess they do work, after all

"Detector ángulo muerto" is the blind spot sensor:

(Duster 3) Automatic high beams are useless

• Upvotes

This "feature" is driving me nuts. Driving on an empty road with reflective surfaces at regular intervals on both sides? It will keep turning on and off at random. On the opposite end if you're following another car or have a car coming from behind an obstacle (with a headlight halo noticeable from far away) it often won't turn off or turn off late.

Is there any way to set high beams to manual mode without having to turn off automatic DRL/low beam switching?

Duster Windscreen - Camera Recalibration?

We're having to replace the windscreen on our 2025 Duster Extreme which is going to cost around £475 and can be done locally. The replacement company noted that this doesn't include a recalibration of the camera which is an extra £160 and a 7 hour round trip to their facility (we're well remote).

Is this actually needed?

TIA

2020 duster warning lights

Hi , new shape 2020 duster , once it's warmed up random warnings appear on the dash. Check injection flashes on then off but gradually stays on for longer periods. Then i get hill assist , abs , start stop, check anti pollution is the main one displayed from then. If i turn it off and restart the car I'm good , but then when i drive forward the warnings appear. If i stop then reverse a few feet the warnings completely disappear. Am i right in thinking it's a damaged wire in the engine bay? Thanks in advance.

Android Auto audio stuttering

Hello everyone,

I recently picked up my new Dacia Duster (Journey / 155HP) and I'm really enjoying it so far!

However, I've noticed that the music randomly stutters every now and then when using wireless Android Auto. Has anyone else run into this issue, and if so, did you manage to fix it?

I'm not sure if it's coming from the car or my phone (Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra). I never had this problem with my previous car.

Thanks in advance for any tips! 🫡

0.9 TCE (Sandero 3, 2025 model), what about E85 ?

Hi everyone :)

I've a Dacia Sandero 3 for about a year now (I can present it here if you want, I've done a few things and mods on it).

I've already done around 23 000 kms with it, and it's perfect ! I was already in love with the brand, but my previous Logan was lacking some essentials options (like... electric windows and central locking?)

But I live in France, and as you know with the actual context, gasoline is quite expensive right now (2.35€/L for SP95-E10)

I've tried 50/50 with SP95-E10 and E85 and it's running as usual, but have anyone tried running this motor (0.9 TCE, 90HP, indirect injection) at 100% on E85 thanks to a reprog or a ethanol kit ? (Only kits can be legal in France btw).

Thanks a lot in advance !

Bigster Journey vs Extreme – why does everyone seem to pick Journey? Am I missing something?

Hi all,

I'm about to order a Bigster and I've been going back and forth between Journey and Extreme. Most owners/reviews I see went for Journey, but on paper Extreme looks like the better deal to me. Trying to understand if there's a real reason for that or it's just taste.

Here's how it looks in my market:

Both trims have the same base price – 30,690 €.

Journey has on top of Extreme:

- Power tailgate

- Electric driver's seat (6-way, but no memory)

- 18" full diamond-cut wheels, option for 19" Rasan

Extreme has on top of Journey:

- Opening panoramic roof (standard!)

- Washable "micro cloud" upholstery

- Modular roof rails

- Copper accents and mirror caps

- 18" semi-diamond wheels

If I spec them the same way (panoramic roof + power tailgate), Journey comes out 800 € more expensive, since the roof is a 1,190 € option on Journey, while the power tailgate is only 390 € on Extreme.

So basically the extra 800 € on Journey buys you an electric driver's seat without memory, and you lose the washable upholstery and modular rails.

My spec:

Extreme tribrid 150 4x4, Cold Pack (heated seats, wheel, windscreen), power tailgate, Commercial Pack (360° camera, sensors all around, blind spot), metallic color(not sure which one yet).

Questions for those who chose Journey (or Extreme):

  1. Was there a specific reason you went with Journey? Resale value, looks, the copper trim?

Thanks!

Frozen brakes Jogger Hybrid 140

Hi! I got Jogger 2025 Hybrid. I have read that typical problem in winter time is that electric hand brake freezes.
Have you heard any solution for this problem?
We can have easily -30 degrees so correctly working brakes are very important.

Looking for Seat covers

We recently bought a 2025 ex-demo Duster, in pristine condition. We don't have a good record with keeping cars clean and tidy but this is the newest one we've ever bought, so I'd like to try, and our grandson has already spread biscuit crumbs over the back seat (before anyone comments, my bad!)

Where would anyone recommend I get a full set of seat covers that fit tightly, not loose and wrinkly, and where you can still use the 60/40 split, which we often do. Preferably apart from Dacia, where they cost over £500. Unless that is really the only place. Thank you very much.

Grazie in anticipo!

Duster 150 4x4 Remote Starter?

Hi all,

I'm currently considering to buy a new Duster (150 tribrid 4x4), with the plan to use it in Scandinavia mostly. There it's quite common to have an aftermarket space heater in the car to unfreeze windows and bring the interior temp up.

However after spending several hours researching, it seems like Dacia has an official remote starter, but is only offering the part in Russia and the Middle East.

Does anyone know if that's due to whatever legal situation prohibiting to run an engine idle in the EU/EEA, or whether that's a business decision?

And if anyone knows whether the part can be retrofitted (or even ordered as a custom component, despite not being on the official list of options), that would also be much appreciated.

Our first Dacia!

My GF was looking for a newer car, and compared to other cars around this price point (~€3500) the Sandero is excellent value for money. Yesterday we bought this 2013 Sandero from the first owner, 168.000 km and perfectly maintained, everything documented and a lot of maintenance items like tires, battery, thermostat housing etc were done recently. Even had an extensive service only 2000 km ago. She asked €3600 and we bought it for €3000. (Mind, used cars here in NL have become quite expensive)
I’m surprised how quick it is with the 0.9 TCe engine, and the ride quality is very good! Now I know why James May is so enthusiastic about Sandero’s, it’s a spacious, well-built car for a great price.
Today I cleaned it inside and out, including the engine bay, and put ceramic spray coating on the outside for some extra shine and protection.
To do:
-Paint the steel wheels black and give the wheel covers a fresh coat of silver paint, for the finishing touch.
-Upgrade the standard radio to an Android Auto unit, need to check if I can retain the steering wheel controls.
-Take some time to go through the maintenance records and see if anything needs to be done (spark plugs, brake fluid, inspect underside / rust proofing etc), I do all the work myself - have a Peugeot 205 Automatic and a 1st gen Renault Twingo Paris as hobby cars :) And from what I’ve seen so far, the Sandero is really easy to work on.

Anyway- here’s another new Dacia enthusiast, happy to join the club!

2020 Duster Techroad instrument cluster clock

I have been strangely irked by the fact my Duster doesn't display the tme in the instrument cluster, only on the Media Nav screen. After trying several stick on clocks that didn't display in the dark I stumbled upon a YouTube video where the clock in the instrument cluster was activated using an ODB dongle. Amazon dispatched a Carista dongle to me for the next day and using Car Scanner pro I now have a clock and the external temp. displayed on my instrument cluster. My irk has gone.

Is my light sensor working

Thumbnail gallery
5 Upvotes

Hi guys,

I picked up a 2024 Dacia stepway on Friday and was told that everything was in working order and that my lights would be automatic. I’ve upgraded from a very old car so wasn’t familiar with automatic lights but I don’t think they’re ever going into dip beam and instead just stay in high beam. I’ve tried to look for the light sensor and found this (picture attached) but there’s no wiring or anything watched to it and it was very easy to pull out…. Have I been given a broken light sensor?? I might be totally paranoid so I thought I’d check here first!

Ervaringen DACIA Bigster hybrid155

Hey allen,

Thanks.

Rear view camera problem.

I have a Dacia Sandero 2026 and the car just did the Media Nav update. I went on a short ride 30km and parked with the camera working. Started after a couple of hours the trip back home and when I turned the car on the camera wasn't working only the sensors. Checked to see if it had dirt on it, nothing. Came back home did a restart on the tablet stull no camera. Turned the car off and back on again nothing... Anyone else had this issue? Planning to go on the dealership tomorrow but if there is something I can do I would gladly avoid the visit.
