3 000 kms in and I still haven't seen the blind spot sensors even once
Driving a 2026 Dacia Santero Eco-G 120 automatic, Journey edition.
I find it very weird and I don't know whether this is a my car thing, or whether I have been incredibly lucky not to have had a ciclist come dangerously near to me from behind in 3 000 kilometres, but I can swear I don't even know what noise or alert the car is supposed to do when detecting something with such sensors because, to my knowledge, it hasn't done it even once. I knew when I bought it that this car wasn't of the highest quality, but I did want a car with these sensors on and specifically asked the dealer whether it had them, to which he said yes and I indeed see the icon in both mirrors, but that's all I've seen about it.
Whenever I am a passenger in a modern car, I see those sensors flare up all the time something gets behind it, so I am truly puzzled at whether the sensors are just poor at their job or whether it has in fact something to do with my car.
What are your thoughts on this? If you wouldn't mind, I would appreciate if you could tell me what noise or alert I am supposed to hear or see, because I haven't seen the mirrors flare up like in other cars and perhaps I am looking for wrong.
EDIT: So... I just went to my car and, as it turns out, the blind sensors were TURNED OFF by default. Wtf? This is such a weird choice; I assumed all ADAS systems were turned on by default.
Right after turning them on, they indeed flared up detecting the.. Wall behind where it is parked, so I guess they do work, after all
"Detector ángulo muerto" is the blind spot sensor:
