Some little plants from today
galleryThese were all made from a sympathy bouquet for my father's death. I used Jacquard chemistry on Jack Richeson watercolor postcards.

About a month ago, I posted a photo of this after I’d rinsed it. (From a personal account, not this one).
It got a lot of love and a few people encouraging me to make prints. Well, I did, and just launched my website this week.
I’ve sold the original and a few others already, and some prints.
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone that encouraged me! ❤️❤️❤️
(And if anyone would like to see my other work, the link is in my bio)

It was fun! I used some coffee! I plan to try with some other tannins and see what happens. I’m excited to try it with some proper photos, it’s been so rainy this week I haven’t had a chance to expose any lol!

Spent a decent amount of time this past weekend making cyanotype prints for an upcoming art swap. I’m pretty happy with the results.

My husband and I made these space-themed cyanotypes for our son's nursery (we are excited first time parents!)
I am wondering if folks have suggestions for how to hang them on the wall to minimize sun damage? They're fabric, and I wanted to keep that visible, meaning no bulky framing. So I was planning to just pin the cyanotypes to the wall, but now I’m worried about them fading with daily sun exposure. There’s daily light in the room, but the wall we would hang artwork on does not get much bright, direct sunlight.
Any suggestions? Thank you!!

I've been working on a cyanotype t-shirt for the local run club and they came out pretty crisp! All done by hand this is after a few wears and washes

Hey, so im using a 2.5W UV light to print 6x9, medium format photographic negatives, I have tried exposures from 8 minutes to 60 minutes, on the edges outside of the negative I obtain a nice blue color, at 30 and 60 minutes the images were visible (faint but visible), especially good on 60 minutes, but when I washed with cold water the image dissapeared and the whole negative turned white.
As far as I know my chemical mixing should be fine, and exposure times should´ve been enough. Any clue on what could be happening? P.S Im using a good negative with enough contrast.

Still don’t know how I feel about this medium, sometimes it comes out super clear & sometimes it doesn’t. Also I realized, this medium requires hydrogen peroxide to develope a clearer picture, & you need to rub out the blue pigment physically with your hands for a better result.
Overall though, photo paper seems to be an easy & forgiving medium for cyanotypes

Really in love with how this turned out and the different colors that developed.

Today I fancied dressing up and taking some photos to turn into cyanotypes. Really happy with how these turned out! 💙

Hi - Has anyone tried to digitize their cyanotypes? I'm particularly interested in toned prints where the general whiteness of the paper has also toned/discolored and how you deal with that when scanning in.
I'd think like digitizing other pieces of art, you would scan and maybe pick everything off of the white background to reproduce on other white papers, but when the toning and the general white of the paper is off, how do you cater for that?
Any info or processes would be great. Thanks!

This is my second time making cyanotypes and I wanted to experiment with some different techniques. The first time I used transparency film, which was cool, but I wanted to do something more hands-on. I tried splattering, dripping, and toning to get some interesting effects. I also played around with using an electric typewriter to see how it would look.
For toning, I bleached the print in a solution of 1L water and 2tsp baking soda for 10 minutes and then soaked it in 1L of black tea (steeped with 3 teabags for 10 minutes) mixed with 100mL of red wine. First time toning a print and I’m very pleased with the color.

I always get a lot of compliments on the white t shirt, so I will be exploring around this design more.

Right now I am using a single uv floodlight on a stand to print with. I am having trouble with printing anything over 8 x 10. The ligh intensity isn't even so the edges of 11 x 14 prints don't get enough light . I can move the light source farther away but then exposure times get exponentially longer.
I am planning on making a new one with a roll of 365nm LED strip lighting.
My question is to those who have made a strip light box, what did you do for overall form? A box from above, a light table with the light facing up, drawers, doors or hinges for access? What do you like and dislike about what you use?
Do you use ground glass as a diffuser to even out the light from the strips? I am sure I could quickly build something that works, I am looking for ideas for something that is nice to use and efficient.

Hello! So I've done this without any problem before following the same steps:
1 - apply solution onto the bag (100% cotton, or that's what I bought)
2 - letting it dry. I live in a very humid area, so this batch I had to help it a bit with a hairdryer.
3- expose under UV lamp
4 - wash it thoroughly and let it soak a bit. Then hang them to dry.
The prints looked ok when I washed them yesterday but I woke up to wash out prints. Is there anything I shouldn't be doing or is the textile being weird? Can I do anything to make it better? I still have a couple to make.
First four photos are from this morning. Last is the comparison when I washed it.
If they were for me, I wouldn't care but I need them to be presentable because these aren't my designs, they are for a workshop I did and we didn't have enough time to finish them (because of the humidity, when we applied the solution it didn't dry and I ended up taking them home to finish the work).
I've never encountered this problem before so I'm at a loss. Can anyone help me understand what's happening?

This is the last sunny day off I'll have for a while, so I used up every scrap of paper I had.

My first attempt at taking photos of the mountains through in-camera cyanotype photography. Thoughts?
these photos were taken around 9000 ft elevation which has about 40% more Uv exposure than at sea level.
