I built this Flatwoods Monster automaton from scratch. The mechanism works with bevel gears, a timing belt, cogs and cams. The moving background is a fabric screenprint and the lights are rechargeable.

Bigfoot and Nessie coming soon!

(Some say Flatwoods isn't a cryptid, but it is widely considered one though it overlaps into ufology.)

I found this specimen in the mall. It is supposed to be a christmas decorative.

Why, that's so violating

In October 2016, during black-powder season, a man in a cabin near Speculator, New York was woken at two in the morning when his security light came on. He expected deer.

What he saw in the clearing was moving on four legs. Then it stopped and stood up on two. He described it as about eight feet tall. He stayed inside and watched.

The account was originally reported to Phantoms and Monsters (published Oct 24, 2020), and the witness’s name was withheld. There are no photos and no second witness, so I treated it as one person’s account. In the video I go through the Hamilton County setting, the history of dog-headed figures in older records, the natural explanations (bear, coyote or large dog, a person, the mind in the dark), and where those explanations fall short.

It’s about 22 minutes. All visuals are dramatized recreations, not evidence of the event.

Two questions for you:

• Has anyone heard of other sightings around Hamilton County or the southern Adirondacks?
• Which explanation do you find hardest to rule out?

I run a small channel called Empire State Chronicles, which retells New York encounter reports. If you’ve seen something yourself, I’d like to hear it.

I’m an independent filmmaker working on a documentary about unicorns and the people who believe they still exist.
I’m looking to speak with adults who have genuinely seen one, believe they’ve encountered one, or have spent years trying to find one.
I’m particularly interested in personal stories. What happened? Where? And would you ever want to go back?
This is a serious documentary project exploring belief, mythology and the unexplained. It will include creative and fictional storytelling elements, which we’ll discuss with participants.
If you have a story, I’d love to hear it. Please write to vasilisakuzmina@gmail.com

This is my new video, It explains the backrooms and makes in depth explanations on things to do with it!
