She's clearly not familiar with religion and it's history of she thinks preaching about religion doesn't invite violence.

Pretty sure you meant incite. Religion is all about having out groups, so the in groups are easier to control. Jesus said turn the other cheek, but manipulators say as long as you're wielding the weapons in the name of the in group it's pious.
