Yuuup. Made a living in circus arts for years, spent a lot of time around movement artists - aerialists, dancers, jugglers - that worked their asses off to be in peak form.
People like this remind me of when I lived with a 'noise artist' in Portland, OR in the early 2000's. Dude wanted to be a rock star, but didn't have the discipline to learn an instrument
Can confirm it’s tremendously worse than that.
A lot of people just have their nose stuck up and are offended just by you existing. I wish I was exaggerating. It’s beautiful in many ways but I feel it’s so odd in a non productive kind of way that it just doesn’t function, unfortunately. I shit you not, I had a grown ass women in my anatomy class be offend because the teacher was teaching, male and female anatomy and would thus lay on the floor and throw temper tantrums and disrupt and disrespected the teacher on a daily bases, And yet the people in the class still tolerated her. It’s Just shit like this constantly everywhere you go. Or like people stealing and they would just look at you and walk out of the store, with zero consequences except resulting in shady neighborhoods where no one did anything about the stealing , break-ins and drug problems. Where I live now, this shit wouldn’t fly culturally in public, it’s night and day difference. I know it’s a complicated subject, but tolerating crime and allowing dangerous neighborhoods is irrational. It’s also a place where so many people speak openly about equality and yet it’s the most sexist/racist place I’ve ever lived. If you’re whiite or a male, well good luck, everything is your fault. So much mindless hate toward them. A lot of people I met had this mind set.
Miss the trees but Happy I don’t live there anymore.
I lived in Seattle (Portland's twin city, culturally) for 16 years. Finally escaped. I still tend to follow things from there and it's gotten weirder and weirder by the day.
Yes, acrobatics are a very admirable performance. The things they put themselves through to show how amazing the human body can be and what physical effort is possible is incredible.
