Isn't this Germany? They lost WW1 and WW2 so hard, they went a little nuts. Be gentle on them.

The audience looks German to me too. And I doubt that they are rich people. They much more look like a few very shocked elderly people from a rural area. A lot of Kleinstadt-Vibes.

The tentacle monsters were a part of Japan well before that. Their love of tentacle porn definitely spurred the invention of comics rather than the other way around.

I love anime and Japan’s unique flavor of weird, but I’m not entirely convinced the bombs didn’t have something to do with it.
