I bought my Cricut Maker 5 a couple of weeks ago but because it’s so new I’m struggling to find much information about which pens are compatible with it.

I previously had a Cricut Joy Xtra and had these pens for it, but I ended up selling them with my old machine because I assumed they wouldn’t be compatible. The pens for the Maker 4 weren’t compatible with my Joy Xtra (ordered the wrong ones the first time lol), so I didn’t want to risk it.

Would you recommend just ordering the same pens again, or are there any different ones you’d recommend? Off-brand recommendations are welcome too! 😊

I don’t think I even have a question but the flair options had me picking between complaint and design space sucks so here we are.

I’m making themed gift tags out of speech bubbles and can get about 40/page. I have done all of it on my phone because the only computer I have at home besides my iPad is a Chromebook which of course is incompatible with design space and my work computer won’t allow me to download the computer version. I have now done it twice. Both times I saved, printed, and later got out the machine to start print and cut. It has now deleted the second half of my project twice. I’ve got nearly 100 I need to make and both times it has only saved the first 30. I won’t be able to completely and exactly mimic the original so the printed version is useless and I have to redo the last 60% of them for the third time now… on my phone…

I guess I do have kind of a question. In your experience, how do you get around this? The only thing I can think of is to save it under a new name every few minutes. When I’m working and I try to save, the Save option is usually grayed out. Should I just keep doing Save As until I have a dozen versions? Do you guys just never close the app and hope it doesn’t refresh and delete your progress? Bleh. This sucks.

I need to rant about design space before I take a hammer to my Cricut….

I use DS on an iPad, but had always had a backup MacBook for when the iPad version wouldn’t behave, or I wanted to foil.

My MacBook is from 2013, and I haven’t been able to update the iOS in years. A couple of months ago I went to boot it up so I could foil part of a project and got an error message that DS couldn’t update bc my iOS was out of date.

I have spent hours on 3 projects for a friend- a card, bday banner, and cake topper. I went to save the print to cut as a PDF, and all of the images had a thick black border around them. This can’t be fixed on the iPad and must be fixed on a desktop. I ask my sister to export the pdfs for me from her desktop, and half of the projects were completely missing. HOURS wasted, and I now have to spend several more hours re-designing what was lost. The iPad version does not let you manually save anymore as it says it “auto saves”.

Hi, I just saw a random small piece of my cricut but I have no idea where it came from. Is this part essential? Where is it from?

I have made stickers with my cricut for 5 years now and I have always used the smoothing tool on the cricut app on my Ipad to get rid of ridges to ensure the cut is extra smooth.

However, I open up my cricut app today and to my surprise...the smoothing is gone!

Where did it go?? Did they move it to somewhere else?

Hi, I purchased an SVG file of the PS5 controller skin on Etsy. I'd like to insert an image into it, resize it, then print and crop it. How can I do this?

I do dinners at church. I wanted 2D paper ornaments on the tables for Christmas. I decided to take my Cricut Maker to the church office. I printed all the ornament designs on pastel cardstock with the Print then Cut Feature. All pages have the registration marks.

After cutting a few of each design at church I realized that it did not save two of the layouts. All I need to do is cut them at home. I cannot find the same alignment even though I tried the snap mat feature.

Just because it has the registration marks does not mean the cut is exact. I tried and it cut was off by MM. Do I just have to waste more cardstock and reprint two of the designs again so I know they are aligned correctly? I feel this time I will stay at the office with my machine and make sure the project saves. I am not moving the project home this time.

How would you handle this?

I'm about to get my Cricut Joy Xtra soon and if I don't find things good enough to vinyl (or other projects), I'm going to start ruining my furniture and walls and my next post on this community would be how to remove the stickers or vinyls.

Something cool and something that's not the first thing that comes up after searching cricut crafts (I'm looking at you, mugs). And the tools I'd be using would be a regular iron and hair dryer (is that even useful?)

Something cool like henna stencils (that's crazy! Got me squealing when I saw that)

I modified them off of other designs. Unfortunately, Cricut's new autosave screwed up all my new patterns! Most of it is cheap dollar store faux leather. Some are just scraps left over from my library's makerspace. The layers are glued together using Aleene's Tacky, attached to a clasp barrette with a small metal brad, and then hot glued down to stay in place.

These lines (I hope they are visible on the photo) line up with the star wheels, I never touched them, and it only happen with the outer 2 wheels out of the 4, the one on the far right being the most noticable. I've looked around in this subreddit and everyone says to move those wheels out of the way but my question was, I'm not using any thick material, I only make stickers using Print Then Cut, so is this solution OK on the long run? I just want to make sure!

I want to use my original explore to cut felt, I’m going to bond it with freezer paper but I was trying to avoid buying another blade. Can I do it with the fine point blade (even if it has to go over it more than once) or should I buy a new blade? If I need to buy a new one, should I buy the deep cut blade or bonded fabric blade?

Planning on doing some upcoming projects with felt and fabric. Thanks!

I am wanting to do a basic sticker sheet of stars on foiled gold/silver sticker paper, silly me thought that would of course be a simple thing for Cricut to manage! I was wrong. Design space sucks, doesn't it?

Is there anyway I can do Kiss cut stickers without using the print then cut feature? I was hoping to maximise these full sheets of sticker paper with these since they are just basic shapes that don't need printing but I cannot find an option anywhere for kiss cut without going through print then cut. Anyone know how to do this or is it just not an option and I will have to succumb to the annoying print then cut restrctions?

EDIT: I am using an explore 3, on my Windows PC and version 10.5.157 installed.

So the "Image Too Large" issue still happening with Print Then Cut - on Windows desktop app, running Beta as suggested.

It keeps telling me my print then cut is too large, despite fitting in the A4 template with space to spare.

Template is 18.3x26.9cm as required, and the flattened image without the template is only 18.21x26.73, so well within the dimensions that Cricut themselves say are the maximum!

Whyyyyy is it doing this? It's utterly infuriating.

I found a bunch of cute sticker templates in design space but they’re all in different languages. I get I can edit them but I don’t want to have to do all the extra work. Wish they made them in English

SOLVED I figured it out. There were too many vectors in the file. If an error would have popped up and told me that it would have saved me so much time and energy. So if you get the spinning wheel of doom when you want to cut a design it may just have too many vectors for cricut to handle.

When I have my design all done and hit "Make" it just gives me a loading circle. It will Not load. I just want to make a Dungeon Crawler Carl shirt.

I was wondering if I can use my cricut explore to cut popsicle sticks to make a sword

To be fair, I only want to use it right now to cut simple shapes like stars and scalloped circles from cardstock at the heaviest

The first image is the intended image, and i cant even figure out what part of it im looking at when it shows the preview of what the actual cutting will be. Im guessing its just zooming in on a segment of it, but it has no reason to, it is a vectorized file and the sizing matches up with the cutting mat. Any tips? EDIT: issue resolved, i just needed to select attach on the motif!

When I place a shape too close to the left edge INSIDE the red cutting area border, it flattens the side of my shape. I should have taken a photo of this last night before throwing the ruined vinyl away, but I've illustrated it to hopefully show what I'm talking about. On the left of the image is the shape I was cutting out, on the right is the result.

I have a Maker 3, and I was cutting out holographic HTV if that helps. Design Space Version 10.7106, on Windows 11.

I have the new cricut maker 5 I’m trying to engrave stainless steel with the quick housing #41 engraving tip but every time I press go design space gives me the notification “engraving tool not detected” I have wiped everything off and even reset everything! How can I fix this?

PS. these are 2 different windows and 2 different boos just the same motive.

I may have overlooked this, but am I needing to buy all the blades separately from the machine? Or is that a blade already pre-installed in the machine as per the image I attached?

I got this Cricut Joy 2 on clearance, and it didn't come with a charger so I bought one off of Amazon from Norward. The charger didn't fit so I went through Cricut support to get a charger that would actually fit but this one also does not fit into my Cricut. Do you guys know if my thing was broke from the beginning or if they sent me the wrong charger.

Any help at all would be super appreciated! 😁

Was gifted a huge box of cricut materials. Is there anyway of figuring out what types of vinyl they are? Should I just cut a piece off of each one and try and guess? I’ve always kept my materials overly organized so I know which is which but now I’m looking at a big box of potential projects or a big box of trash?
