The G in LGBTQ+ actually stands for Greek (historically accurate)

Why's Lesbos look like a kneeling Chester Cheetah glancing over his shoulder?

One could say he's flaming hot. A lil crunchy, even.

I was going to say, "Lesbian" in the modern sense is a fairly recent word. She would probably associate Lesbian with the island, and Sapphic with the orientation.

The Island of Lesbos is independent now?!

I hope they'll actually use the Long Bacon Flagâ„¢ if they ever become independent

u/FlipperBumperKickout 11h ago

Please make it a "long bacon" flag then 🙃

If she were ancient wouldn't it be mainly the isle of Lesbos?

Idk I'm not a linguist

u/EnderCats8 12h ago

lesbian means people of lesbos, both are correct

Yeah and then since the most famous lesbian was rumoured to be, well, lesbian. The term got extended.

It's just that i don't know how long ago was that shift.

If you didn't know that Sapphos of Lesbos is where we get sapphic and lesbian, you'd think she was a made up person

No some more recent studies say that sapphos might not have been lesbian and it was a misunderstanding.

I studied ancient Greek for the past 5 years and that's what the "experts" say.

u/EnderCats8 11h ago

yeah that's the joke the immortal thinks lesbos is independent

u/callmedale 11h ago

Not just their people, Lesbian goats are famous for Lesbian cheese and Lesbian sheep were quarantined to the island for a while to prevent disease from reaching other populations

I appreciate the cool lesbian on the right who has nothing to add but is expressing her amusement at the situation

The first vampire?!

9

u/Prometheus_Bobert 11h ago

Well not yet but with enough lesbians I'm sure the Island of Lesbos can be taken over pretty quickly

3

u/AnarchistTerrarist 7h ago

Wouldn't even take that many, like 80k. Going off of my calculations from when I looked into trans populations, that'd be 1% of 1%, so 0.1% of humankind and... Let's say lesbians are around 3% so less than 1% of lesbians would be needed to match their force. If you wanna get real freaky and take the whole country that currently has Lesbos, Greece, you'll probably be fine as well.

Lesbos declared independance? What's next, Uruguay?

2

u/DopazOnYouTubeDotCom 11h ago

I appreciate the sentiment but we can’t have nationalism even if it’s lesbian

Is that The Guide from What We Do in The Shadows?

1

u/Inevitable-Camel-417 9h ago

Okay what if we are offered our own country but it's England. Would you take that?

Now that I think about it, why flags specifically? Never bothered to think about it
