Welcome to Version 2.0 of this sub!
Hey y'all!
My name is Chorazin, and on IG I go by sethshootscosplay. I've only been shooting cosplay for about a year now, and I really do love it.
But I was unable to really find a good, dedicated place to talk about the techniques, challenges, gear, and all the other stuff unique to our art. I found that this sub has been lying dormant for years now, and I asked Reddit to let me take it over. And they did!
So let's make this place awesome. Show off your photos, allow for critique, share tips and tricks, show off your setup and chat about gear. Complain about the god awful lighting in convention centers, talk about contacts, payments, difficult situations, whatever!
PLEASE SHARE THIS SUB! Let all your cosplay photographer contacts know this place is back in business.
Please review the new rules, and use the post flairs so we can start organizing our collective knowledge.
Let's gooooooo!!!

General Discussion πMake our dream a reality!
After 3 years of hard work and countless hours, we finally managed to acquire our own place near Mons, Belgium! π
Our goal is to create a space dedicated to content creation β photography, video, cosplay, modeling, TikTok & more, with multiple immersive sets. πΈπ₯
Our crowdfunding campaign has already reached 65% of its first goal! π₯Ή
Behind this project are simply two young people trying to make a dream we've been working toward for 3 years come true.
Every euro counts and brings us one step closer to that dream. π
And if you can't contribute, even a simple share helps us tremendously!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone supporting us on this journey. π«Ά

General Discussion Where are folks getting photography assets/stock from?
So mainly a question for photographers that do some hardcore editing, like visual effects, background swaps, photo compositions/manipulations, and etc.?
I primarily use Pexels and Unsplash, but you do have to do some verifying to ensure the content is available for use, as it's not unheard of for people to take credit from stolen images in the past.
I also used to use Canva assets, until today! I recently did some edits using assets from Canva, but discovered they're made from Generative A.I., so they're corrupting some of my recent images from Anime NYC last month, and now I'm scrambling to finish my editing queue, while having to figure out re-edits of the edits I had already made. I was recently called out by some cosplayers for using A.I. in a photo, and I was thrown by the accusation, but after a photog DMed me about my workflow pipeline (Photoshop) to inform me about recent articles about Canva, I'm embarrassed by this debacle and pissed I lost so much time in editing with tainted assets!

General Discussion Anyone know where this pose is from?
I was approached by this Jubilee cosplayer and asked to do a specific pose. She showed me the reference pic, but Iβm not sure what this pose is called/from? It was making hand hearts with the opposite arms, having the opposite legs together, flat. Then, having another heart made with the other hands by the feet.

Show Off FanExpo Toronto photoshoot
galleryHi all!
Thought I would share a photoshoot I did at FanExpo Toronto this year. The photographer was @kookabrophoto on IG. He did a great job, and just used subtle editing to sometimes brighten the eye LED or add a bit more red color to the eye smoke. Otherwise, nothing was added. All the smoke, eye, etc is real.

Critique Bullseye π
galleryHi everyone!! I have some bullseye pics to shareee.
Also, how do yall feel about heavily editing the pictures? Does it look good? If not in your opinion why? Im not amazing at editing but im TRYING yallπ
Edit: I was at a con with a friend!! Didnt mention it before so this made like no sense.
We did what we could, but honestly these dont feel great. Does anyone have like...any tips at all for how i can get better pics? Again, we didn't have great lighting so it obviously did not help but I do really want to be able to get decent pictures without having a camera crew.
Also, costume is from ProCosplay!!
I'm hoping to do an actual shoot with him in the future but...Who knows!! Good news, I know like 3 photographers with great set ups that do lots of cosplay photography!! Hopefully better pics eventually π₯²
