What a nice comment section.

Let’s dip my toes here and see what happens.

Listen, I’ll be honest

A misogynistic caricature using the term foid in it and heavily sexualizing a character that is supposed to be an actual child is not going to be well received in most spaces

That is even just outside of the evil existence that is JK Rowling the entire context with the trend is just…not it

However I don’t think people should insult OP at all or anything but there is very much a full awareness of what’s being done

It's already a transphobic ip so I'm not exactly surprised

13

u/bucketman1986 3h ago

Right? It's a misogynistic hat ontop of a transphobic hat

double king

19

u/Ickypahay 5h ago

Draconia is much more elegant anyway

21

u/Prime_Technician 4h ago

Japanese fans immediately came up with the better name of "galfoy" so I say we go with that one

15

u/clownkiss3r 4h ago

i say we drop the trend altogether . it's frankly embarrassing seeing so many people being completely fine with harry potter in current year

-14

u/Prudent_Mountain_994 5h ago

Wtf... I never heard of this bs... Where do you even get such information from??

27

u/Reeyous 5h ago

4chan, which is where this "Malfoid" trend started in the first place. They use "foid" or "femoid" in place of "woman" or "female" because they're all awful people.

-32

u/Real_Might8203 5h ago

Nice miss on the irony. Feel free to assign control over yourself and others within your sphere of influence, but fuck right off with policing strangers on the internet.

9

u/Reeyous 5h ago

What irony, genius?

"Don't give credence to people that see women as property" isn't ironic in the slightest. Go read a book.

u/BurningSpaceMan 3h ago

Hush, now. Don't cry.

-31

u/SpringAutumn_Cicada 5h ago

Yeah, fuck u and your bullshit.

Respectfully.

7

u/BurningSpaceMan 3h ago

No thanks. I have partners for that.

12

u/Reeyous 5h ago

Go back to 4chan if you love their cave-dwelling ways so much.

•

u/SpringAutumn_Cicada 1h ago

Woman, why don’t you go there?

Perhaps you might find someone who cares.

You must be fun at parties and have a lot of friends

11

u/BurningSpaceMan 3h ago

Yup. It's easy when people enjoy your company.

-26

u/juniebee_jones 5h ago

Even if it is that bad, reclamation is a thing

16

u/BurningSpaceMan 3h ago

Why the fuck would we want to reclaim "female humanoid". When calling women "female" is weird as fuck to begin with?

-3

u/StankAssPirate 2h ago

Honestly the best way to combat something like this is the ignore it and not give it intention, the power this word carries is the emotional effect it gets from you. Th more you try to snuff it out, people will continue to use it.
You don’t seriously think a silly term like that is going to be socially adopted into mainstream vocabulary if you just left it alone?
It’s a meaningless term from an obscure community. It only hold power because you let it get under your skin. Just move on and don’t associate with anyone irl who’d use it.

-9

u/juniebee_jones 2h ago

Why would people want to reclaim the n word, the f word, or the c word? It takes power away from people who would use it against you. Also, hate to break it to you, women are female. You’re choosing to let yourself be hurt by this.

u/adventureremily 49m ago

Do you genuinely not see how calling women "females" is dehumanizing, misogynistic language? Truly?

•

u/BurningSpaceMan 28m ago

She doesn't

Thank you for educating us on this terminology that literally fucking nobody would understand or associate with it otherwise.

Thanks to your ability to be incessantly online, now there's hundreds of new people able to use this as a slur.

I mean, you could've just ignored it, because literally nobody gives a fuck about 4chan. But congratulations on shedding light on it I guess.

Any normal, non mentally ill person would be like "malfoid, I don't get it but whatever". But mouth breathers like you are giving even more attention to it lol.

You could just shut the fuck up, not bring attention to it, and if would die out on its' own. But no, here you are making it a thing.

-7

u/StankAssPirate 2h ago

Lmfaoo! I did exactly that too. Saw the term didn’t know what it meant and ignored it. Then I read their rant up above and regretted reading afterwards.
People just love to feel like they’re doing something.

u/JennyV323 4h ago

Solid galfoy cosplay, you look exactly like what I imagine she'd look like in the films.

Not sure why all the comments are getting downvoted so heavily though, I don't love the name "Malfoid," but it reads more like an edgy joke then actual incel language. Plus, Harry Potter can easily be pirated and enjoyed without a penny reaching JK Rowling.

17

u/VioletLovesRowlet 2h ago

Piracy is still viewed as support by companies. Companies don't like Piracy, but they still track it as a source of support.

There's no way to watch the Harry Potter show without it being seen as support by companies.

•

u/JennyV323 1h ago

If you're going that far, then you can't enjoy anything anymore, most companies don't have your best interest in mind. I'll never give JK Rowling money directly, but if me pirating the movies indirectly puts a tenth of a penny in her pocket, so be it.

-1

u/Partyhorse887 3h ago

lol why is anyone saying anything positive getting mass downvoted

-6

u/Dangerous-Usual458 2h ago

Maybe true HP fans just can’t get on board with this whole thing?

•

u/yuricchin 0m ago

Let's not use the word "foid" even as a joke. I sure fucking hope OP isn't a man
