General Discussion Feature Feedback/requests after wearing the APEX 4 for a few days

First of all, I have been really enjoying my APEX 4 for the past month. Definitely a good upgrade after losing my Coros APEX in the lake!

I wanted to share a few UX suggestions and provide some feedback and feature requests as a relatively active user. I also want to ask you guys: What do you like or, on the other hand feel like is missing in the Coros software experience. Most of these are software changes - just things I found unintuitive or missing.

  1. Watch Controls & Daily Experience
  • Action Button Customization: I love the quick toggle between Metrics and the Map view using the action button. However, please add a toggle to exclude the Media Control screen when cycling views during an activity so the Action button only toggles directly between Data Pages and the Map. I don't use the Media Control and find it annoying to cycle between 3 items. I am sure other people might find the opposite true and would prefer to disable the map view and instead toggle between Data Pages and the media control... Very simple settings menu entry
  • Morning Wake-Up Summary: I would appreciate some kind of Morning Report upon alarm dismissal/waking that summarizes overnight Sleep Score, RHR, HRV, today's scheduled workout, and a countdown to the next calendar race/event. Especially the countdown would really be motivating: 45 days to Marathon! Let's GO!
  • Number the Data Pages: Add a small number somewhere in the corner of each page to indicate which one it is: page 1, page 2 etc... Its sometimes difficult to realize which page you are on in the activity while performing the activity. For example. I have my First primary page with the basic distance/pace/hr data, then a page with my HR, and another page with my Power. Sometimes my page changes accidentally; I give the watch a glance, and suddenly I see a different number in the place of where usually my HR is, but it's actually power. I just have to think a bit, give it 1 or two glances before I figure out my page switched, and it switches to the Power page. Then I want to switch back, but which page was it? One above or one below? Sometimes get a bit lost in which page I am on. Why not just have them numbered, and then I know, Ah! I was on page 3 because that's what I was focusing on at the moment; let me switch back to it...
  1. External Sensors (HR Monitor & POD 2)
  • Pre-Activity Sensor Toggle: Add a "Sensors" menu directly on the Activity Start screen to quickly toggle on/off a connected external sensor (e.g., an HR strap left turned on in a backpack) without leaving the start lobby. Sometimes I leave without my HR strap on, yet the Watch connects to it and starts receiving false data... Currently, you have to exit the Start Menu, enter settings, and configure the sensors from there...
  • Sensor Disconnect Alerts: Add an option to trigger an audible/vibration alert if the POD 2 or external HR monitor disconnects mid-activity, preventing lost hardware (POD 2 falling off) or unnoticed battery drain.
  • Allow the Coros Pod 2 to be used in cycling as a cadence meter! This would make it way more useful as a gadget! I know you have a dedicated cadence sensor, but I think it could be nice to use the hardware to full potential. Also, other activity types could probably benefit from the extra data... Skiing/Skitouring from elevation and temperature data, XCountry for pace/cadence, Left/Right Balance and glide time.. Since it's waterproof, perhaps there could also be a way to utilize it during swimming. Although I understand that wireless sensors underwater don't work. I am sure even for climbing one could find interesting ways of using it, for example, sometimes I would prefer climbing without my watch. Why not allow me to leave the watch on the gym floor and climb with the pod and an HR strap to collect the data... Much lighter and more comfortable....
  1. Workout Builder & Activity Planning
  • On-the-Fly Mode Switching: Allow starting a scheduled workout in an equivalent activity mode directly from the watch (e.g., running a scheduled "Road Run" interval session in "Trail Run" mode, or "Bike" in "MTB" mode).
  • Expanded Schedulable Modes: Support scheduling all remaining watch sport modes in the Training Calendar. eg. Gym Cardio session, Custom Sport Session etc.
  • Allow adding estimated Training load for better planning. - Currently this works well for running; I can see how many running sessions I can schedule to fit my weekly Training Load. But it would be nice to allow this also for other sport activities. For example, I do a weekly Gym Cardio Session which always has a similar Training Load, I now have to mentally keep track of it, why no just factor it in using the calendar.
  • On-Watch Block Notes: Allow short text notes on individual workout blocks/exercises. The Strength training animations are amazing, but it would be nice to allow adding some small short descriptions and customization. (e.g., "Use red resistance band for this exercise, 30s per side"), That displays on the watch when the block begins.
  • Display machines/ weights before workout: I am rotating 3 different strength workouts with different equipment, and I always forget to prepare some equipment or weights. I noticed the workouts come with "equipment tags" like: barbell, resistance band, bodyweight etc.. Would be very useful to have an equipment overview list when starting the activity, maybe in the Details menu: "Prepare 15kg and 20kg weights, resistance bands, barbells...."
  • Dynamic Weight Memory in Strength Mode: When increasing the weight for an exercise on the watch after Set 1, automatically carry that updated weight forward to subsequent sets of the same exercise.
  • Swim Workout Duration Estimates: Calculate estimated duration for distance-based swim workouts using personal threshold/average swim pace rather than only counting rest intervals. Currently, a swim with 3000m swim is estimated as 0min and has not TL estimate either.
  1. Third-Party Data Sync
  • Customizable Strava Data Export: Provide an option to include internal watch temperature (and other recorded sensor streams) in Strava activity exports, even when not using the POD 2. Why hide the data if its there....
  • Allow a fine-grained data export. Allow me, for example, to not export the HR data to Strava. But allow it for Komoot.

This is not an exhaustive list! I might make another post in the future with a few more items. I love how Coros keeps adding new features and improving the experience; I just hope that one of the employees sees it and some of them can be implemented! Thank you for constantly improving the platform!

Let me know if you have solutions for any of my "issues" or if you have other feedback/suggestions that Coros should consider.

Question ā“ Heart rate

• Upvotes

How does everyone else’s heart rate monitor accuracy seem with the Pace 3? I don’t use this watch for much, but was hoping it’d track my heartbeat properly on hikes. I did a hike and it said my heartbeat never got above 100 which didn’t seem right. Then the next day I was climbing a mountain and it showed my heartbeat at 60 BPM. I think my intervals are set up to read every 15 minutes but that still wouldn’t track. I saw it change to 60 something and then I went into broadcast HR and it was around 160 right after it had just changed to 60ish…

Coros pace 4 pro on small wrist

Posting this if it’s any help to anyone on the fence about the size of the watch. Coming from Coros pace pro, I was worried about the size of the watch given my slender wrists. I measure 165mm on a hot day, so I was a bit nervous about the upgrade. After arriving I am definitely glad I went with the pace 4 pro. Compared to something like a pace 4/pro, it definitely offers an advantage in the real world in use of maps and brightness. While I’ve never thought the pace pro to be overly dim, it is really hard for me to go back to that display once I’ve used this in bright sunlight. Overall build quality is also significantly better and loving the new nylon strap! The scroll wheel feels more elegant and buttons much more substantial.

NYC marathon race strategy

Does anyone know how to use race strategy in Coros with the NYC Marathon as a route? I used race strategy for a half marathon and I really liked it. But using the route feature I only see routes that I have previously run as options. It would be great to have the NYC Marathon as a route to develop an exact strategy that takes the elevation etc. into account.

Question ā“ Coros pace 4, why is it good for you personally?

A beginner runner, started running diligently for the past 4 months, approx 2-3times per week for a 5/10k per session. Currently, using apple watch which I borrowed from my wife, my ā€œrunning appā€ is Strava as I am a premium member, I love the gamification aspect of it and the strava face in the apple watch is OK I guess.

I am contemplating to have a real sports (running) watch, as I feel Apple Watch lacks certain charm that a running watch provides (ran alongside a friend with his garmin and the watch acts much more than just showing metrics, ie: beepers for I am assuming pace alert?)

In my country the obvious (and easily available choice) are Garmin and Coros, and my eye is on Coros Pace 4 as I like the size more than the pro, and have no need on any advantages pro gives anyway.

My question is will it be a significantly different experience, having a Coros while running vs an Apple Watch ?
Does Coros actually track your run better ? Act as a virtual pacer ?
Does having a Coros and still using Strava (is it even possible in a Coros) a valid idea ? Or Strava is too streamlined and built in face from Coros is the way to go?

I have watched countless reviews on youtube but got tired as there are just too many advertisement and biased reviews pushing you on certain direction.

COROS HR Monitor Accuracy Issues and Pace 3 Problems (since the June Update)

I’ve recently (over the last month and a half, maybe) been experiencing some inaccurate heart rate readings from the band. Sometimes it shows 175 BPM when I’m clearly not pushing that hard, while my actual heart rate seems to be somewhere around 153- 160 bpm.

I’ve reset the band (the ā€œplug and unplug it 5 timesā€ trick), although I’m not convinced it’ll actually fix the issue. And yes, I do wash both the band and the watch from time to time!

Since the June update, even the watch itself (COROS Pace 3) doesn’t seem as stable or efficient as it used to be. Battery life and notifications have also become unreliable and don’t always work as expected.
I’m seriously considering selling it or sending it back under warranty, as the last few months have been pretty disappointing.

Anyone else experiencing the same issues?

Question ā“ Coros and bike computers

Hi all! I am training for an Ironman 70.3 and would really like to go with a Coros watch. My biggest concern with triathlon training is bike computer/stationary bike program integration. The Dura would be great but it doesn’t seem like it is being sold anywhere right now. Would love advice on what bike computers and trainers people use with their Coros watches as well as the ease of use between the two and ease of use while racing. Thanks!

PACE 3 šŸŽ½ MY COROS PACE 3 BROKE ALL OF THE SUDDEN.

Hi, I've already contacted support without help 3 times. ID: 904812 good morning, I contact you again to request technical support, and possible warranty management for my coros pace 3, id: 904812 A few days ago the device began to experience serious hardware/software malfunctions. The clock opens settings, starts tasks, etc. autonomously. I would obviously like to point out that the touch screen has always been disabled. Trying to restart it didn't work. Also since this problem happened it even seems that the keys no longer listen and that they don't seem to work. I kindly ask for guidance on checks to make a warranty repair or replacement. I also have video demonstration, please don't hesitate to ask. Firmware is 3.2008.0 Thank you and goodbye [KV1MN9-PR7XM]

Question ā“ How do you get the pace zones and heart rate zones to line up with each other?

Post image
13 Upvotes

I think my paces are a little slow, or maybe my heart rate is too high. I'm 33 male, I think my max HR is 185-190. I did a fitness test about a month ago, do I need to do another for it to update or does the watch recalibrate zones automatically or do I need to edit something manually?

I built a free app that turns COROS data into daily sleep, recovery and effort scores (beta, iOS + Android)

Post image
3 Upvotes

I built a companion app called Stimula, and it's now in open beta. It's 100% free, with no plan to charge. No trial, no subscription. You can export all your data as JSON or delete your account from inside the app.

It connects to your COROS account (read-only, it never writes to your account or your watch) and every morning gives you three numbers: how you slept, how recovered you are, and how hard the day has been so far. Each one is scored against your own history, not a generic table.

On top of that:

  • A target for today. A strain range worth aiming for, based on your usual week and this morning's recovery. It won't let one good morning after a heavy week talk you into a spike.
  • A bedtime. Worked out from when you actually wake up and how much sleep you're short, with a reminder half an hour before.
  • A journal. Quick yes/no questions (a drink, a late meal, a warm room). After a few weeks it shows which of them your recovery actually responds to.
  • A health report. Resting HR, HRV, SpOā‚‚, respiratory rate and temperature next to normal ranges, as a one-page PDF for your doctor.
  • Stimula Age. An experimental "fitness age" from VOā‚‚max, resting HR, sleep and steps.
  • Home screen widgets.

It tries to be honest about its limits. For roughly the first two weeks the scores lean on COROS's own baselines, and the app says so on screen. COROS doesn't expose all-day heart rate, so the load outside workouts is an estimate, and the app labels it as one.

Get it: https://getstimula.com

  • iPhone: TestFlight beta
  • Android: direct APK download (not on the Play Store yet, so you'll need to allow the install)

It's a beta, so expect rough edges. There's a feedback form in the app's Beta tab, and I'll read every comment here too. I'd especially like to hear from people with a different watch model or training style than mine.

General Discussion Coros Pace 4 Pro on RunTesters' wrists

Thumbnail
gallery
57 Upvotes

It's mostly praise from the RunTesters for the Pace 4 Pro, if anything a bit against HR tracking (but their testing involves wearing several devices so probably not the best wrist position for a given watch), and Coros' lack of smartwatch features (and my take is we prefer it that way). They all praise the screen, but bear in mind, these guys are used to much larger and bulkier watches.

Coming from regular watches, I think it's too damn big for a daily watch (one of them mentions this: great for sports, not so much for daily life), it overhangs in all of them because lug to lug is 52.5 mm, this could be solved adopting a recessed design for the straps, like the Ikepod watches, in which the straps attach below the bezel, inside the watch's case.

Definitely I will be waiting for a smaller Pace 5 with this new LTPO AMOLED (or, hopefully, even a return to MIP displays).

On a final note, something I've said several times: using premium materials on disposable devices is absurd.

Yet another Coros support frustration thread

My pace 3 is now depleting the battery every two days since the updates this summer (and yes I’ve followed their recommendations for battery depletion).

I sent in a support ticket last week and expected to have a long wait based on what I’ve read here have been other people’s experiences.

I received an AI generated email with follow-up questions the next day and I responded. Today, I received another email saying they are still waiting on my response to the original email…

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I just getting email runarounds?

I sent another response so now I’m just waiting.

The email address is a bunch of nonsense characters that end with @coroshelp.zendesk.com. Is this why they aren’t receiving my responses? Or is this the correct email address I’m supposed to respond to?

Coros’ AI customer service will provide false information

Thumbnail

Because I listen to audiobooks, I prefer to have voice alerts pause my audio rather than just lowering my audio. I have a Pace Pro that just lowers the audio, so I was looking into buying a new Coros watch that pauses the music.

On their FAQs (https://support.coros.com/hc/en-us/articles/38299686686484-Receive-Voice-Alerts-During-Activities), they list out various models and whether those models pause or just lower the audio during voice alerts. I had my eye on the Coros Pace 4, but the Pace 4 is not listed under either category, and I couldn’t find an answer online, so I asked their customer support.

Knowing that I’d probably get an AI response, I copied and pasted the FAQs and asked it which category the Pace 4 fell
into. It responded, without any ambiguity, that the Pace 4 pauses music during the voice alert.

Well, I buy the Pace 4 and that turns out to be false; it lowers the audio but does not pause it. When I reply to the customer service, it gives me the classic AI response, ā€œYou’re right to call this out.ā€

I know this feature probably isn’t a big deal to most people, but it was to me. And while I knew that customer service was AI, I admit I didn’t think it would provide me with 100% inaccurate information about one of its products. I write this in part to vent, but also to warn people that you should not automatically believe Coros’ customer service because it’s entirely possible that the AI is giving you entirely incorrect information.

Question ā“ Auto lock touchscreen only?

I just got a Pace 4 Pro. Coming from a Garmin Instinct and really excited for maps but baffled about a few things.

Is there really no way to lock the touchscreen during activity without also locking the start/stop button itself?

This seems kind of bonkers to me and I feel like I must be missing something. Like if I’m doing a race on a rainy day, I want the touchscreen locked but I also don’t want to have to unlock the watch right before I cross the finish line in order to stop the activity.

Heart rate recovery bug?

What happened to my Coros Pace Pro battery?? It suddenly started draining at a significant rate three days ago and now won’t hold a charge.

Post image
5 Upvotes

I’m in a recovery period where I went from using my Coros Pace Pro for two hours or so per day. I have not done any activity with the watch this last week or so and on Sunday, it started draining battery crazy fast - and all of a sudden. It says the battery use is going towards ā€˜General Useā€˜ - I have no idea what this is or why it’s changed as I haven’t changed any settings.

It was not due to a firmware update - in fact, I updated the firmware last night with another full charge and still had the problem today.

I’ve done multiple watch resets, full charges, etc. with no improvement of this issue. Any ideas? Has anyone else’s watch started doing this recently? This is incredibly frustrating.

Pace strategy is my favourite feature for race day.

Post image

I had my marathon just as a scheduled training set into 5k blocks, but when I looked into pace strategy - I wanted to give it a try, and dang, was I happy I went with it!

Being able to scale the race, decide on how I wanted to try split it, and getting the ahead/behind pace & notifications every block. I loved it!

And then having the performance summary after to deep dive afterwards. So nice!

Question ā“ Three-Month Old Coros Pace 4: Unusable (Dead Scroll Wheel)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've seen this happen to others with the Pace 3, but was unaware this was affecting the Pace 4. This is a Pace 4 purchased in August 2026, with no damage or previous issues. All of a sudden, the scroll wheel, touchscreen, and backlight are wholly unresponsive - I've tried turning it off and back and on, and factory resetting (by unpairing and repairing), but no avail. The watch is functionally useless.

I messaged Coros customer service, but received a generic AI reply. Does anyone know if there's a specific warranty program or more direct way to get assistance with this?

Thanks!

Edit: Whether it is due to this post or not, Coros got back to me quickly and a replacement is on its way; I am sending the defective unit back (I assume for diagnostics). Hopefully this isn't a common issue. Thanks to everyone for chiming in - fingers crossed that the replacement is good to go!

Question ā“ Switch from FR955 to Apex 4

Hey everybody,

I’m thinking of making the switch from the Garmin Forerunner 955 to the Apex 4. Was wondering whether anyone might have done a similar transition and whether you were happy about it? How is Coros coming from Garmin in general?

I mainly use the watch for trailrunning and foubd the battery on garmin to be a little to weak for longer ultras, hence I’m thinking about switching.

Thanks for any help:)
