Coronation Street Tour

Where is it best to park when Manchester United are playing at Old Trafford? I’m finding it hard to find somewhere to park that will not be completely full.

Just saw the Kit and Brody scene, did it also not hit for anyone else? Spoiler

Sorry but Brody is a terrible actor.

Kit and Brody have barely interacted so not buying the whole Brody crying and calling him dad. It’s been over a year I was expecting Brody and Kit to grow closer during the year but they’ve had hardly any scenes together so this emotional scene just didn’t work at all.

New story with Kit and Bethany Spoiler

Tbh it actually pisses me off a bit. Kit's current storyline is the first time we've seen him truly vulnerable and the first time he's had a story that's just his and isn't involved in romance or police stuff. Jacob Roberts is already doing a really great job and he clearly really cares about doing the story justice. It's something that's never really been explored properly in a soap and there are so many aspects to a man having breast cancer that can be explored. It's also showing to be a great opportunity to bring Kit and Bernie together and strengthen his relationship with Brody. That last scene between them was so painfully beautiful to me.

So what the hell is the point of dragging baby drama into it? I get that having cancer could impact Kit's fertility but he already has a kid whose life he's missed out on for so long and who very explicitly has said that he needs him. This is also a great opportunity to explore Brody's vulnerability and his feelings towards Kit as his dad. It's not even like Brody is a grown adult the way Kit was when Bernie tracked him down. He's still so young and obviously really needs Kit even though he'll be 18 in a while. And 18 is not the same as being in one's 30s. There would be so many times in Brody's life as he gets older where he needs a parent and the only other one he's got is in prison. Obviously there is Tim and Sally who are amazing but they also have their hands full. And it's Kit that Brody wants to be close to. Why not just use this cancer storyline to explore all of these dynamics instead of yet another soap cliche that involves the daughter of Kit's ex. Why does a baby have to be involved in the first place? It's honestly so dumb.

Sally forcing Rosie age 15 to take the morning after pill

Sally’s decision in Coronation Street was controversial, especially because Rosie was only 15 and Sally was forcing her to take it. The question of consent is separate from the medical question of what the pill does. Even if Sally believed she was protecting Rosie, forcing her daughter to take medication raises serious issues of bodily autonomy and Consent.

Age limit in UK? Even if they’re the same age was Rosie’s behaviour illegal? I don’t remember this being discussed when Sarah was pregnant

Bethany Interview Spoiler

Coronation Street Bethany actress interview about Bethany pregnant with Kit baby. Sounds like they won't have her pretend the baby is Ryan's which is good. I feel like she will have the baby and eventually Sarah discovers Kit is the father which completely fractures Platt family.

I'm really struggling to feel for Sarah here Spoiler

When it comes to the trial stuff, a part of me doesn't want Sarah to go down for this, because I don't think she deserves the full extent of what they're trying to say, but at the same time, I just can't feel bad for her because of everything she did prior to getting arrested. Like on the one hand, Theo was a bad guy, but I agree with Todd in the sense she denied him justice, and he never got that closure for everything he did, and Theo will never know real punishment. Then on the other hand, she was happy to sit back and let Summer take the blame for it, even after everything she has been through, and seemingly didn't even feel bad about it. Now she is on the stand trying to fight for her innocence, and I just can't find myself to care that much

There is something... grating about the writing

It makes me sad to notice the inescapable whiplash this show is giving me lately when it comes to the quality of writing.

Aside from Kit & Brody / Kit & Bernie scenes, plus Lily's underappreciated role in a plot and recent acting, many of the other character and/or their storylines are irksome and sloppy.

I don't care if characters make bad choices - obviously. But many character choices aren't clicking for the specific characters. Right now, I don't understand Bethany, I don't understand Todd, I don't understand David, I don't understand Leanne, I don't understand Christine - even when Ken was briefly in a scene last week - these decisions feel half-baked to serve a plotline.

And it's just annoying. The episode dedicated to David, Shona and Jodie last week should have been dynamite and it just fell so flat. The Bethany choices are absolutely head-scratching right now too. I just dislike so much about the show right now.

These last 3-5 weeks are the worst I've felt the show to be in years, but this last week has been particularly standout. Does anyone agree with this?

What is it with British TV and blonde actresses with a certain look/voice/age/name being cops

Image 1: Vicky Myers (Nintendo DS Connor-Swain, also a cop in The Long Shadow, Platform 7, and Paranoid). Image 2: Vicky McClure (a cop on Line of Duty, also a bomb disposal expert with the police in Trigger Point). Image 3: Siân Brooke, a cop in Blue Lights).

All are aged 43-50 too (Vicky Myers is 50, honestly I would have believed she was 40).

This isn't a criticism of any of them but what is with British casting directors and this weirdly specific trope. 😭

Family connections

I’ve only been watching regularly for a couple of years although I did watch occasionally when I was much younger (1980s). I’m struggling to work out if there are any families that have only their own kids (ie the nuclear mum, dad, 2.4 kids) living with them. I thought maybe Gemma and Chesney but they have Joseph who is Chesney’s with someone else along with the quads. Apologies for any bad wording, I can’t think how to phrase exactly what I mean so I hope I’ve made it clear without offending anyone. I’m the child of a single parent family so fully understand that element and I realise blended families are perfectly normal around the uk, but it feels as though in Corrie there isn’t one single family that has just the original parents and child/ren all still together. Am I right? Help!

Lucy Fallon Spoiler

It seems Lucy’s opinion on Bethany having children and playing a mum has changed, and I’m staring to think she’s going to keep it now with some of the stuff said in this article.

UK Law Spoiler

I'm not getting this scenario where if Sarah says Gary hid the murder weapon, she goes free and Gary goes to jail.

So, the murderer walks out and someone who didn't kill anyone goes to jail.

They've been doing this for a while now and Bethany said it again today.

Please someone let me know how this works!!

Soap logic Spoiler

If you sleep with someone you shouldn’t have in Weatherfield, it’s astounding that this superhuman race we watch five nights a week has a 100% fertilisation rate and always leads to a baby from a single shag.
