My original Wii back I had back in 2007 started failing within a year give or take with only mild gaming, and flickering pixels started showing up all over the screen. I never recalled it getting super hot, just warm on the side. I forgot what I did with it, but eventually I got a new black one with the motion plus built into the controller, and I didn't think much of it moving forward, nor did I know anything about board revisions back then, and eventually gave that one to my brother when he asked for it. After that, I never saw it again :(.

I recently decided to purchase another one on eBay, over a decade later, and this one shows "30" in the CMOS battery compartment, so it was way later than the owner claimed he had it for, (probably just thrifted and flipped for profit). While it's practically a good thing that it's younger than expected, the seller may have lied about him being the original owner of this console, which would be bad since there would be no way to figure out the entire history of it and all, if it was indeed second hand. This one does seem to run cooler, but it was nearly two decades since I last had a Wii, especially my old white one, so I can't compare it to say for certain. And yes, I know not to use WiiConnect24/Standby anymore.

I'm just wondering, how likely are these to all fail in the same way? Especially since while mine is newer, it's still a 6-layer board with the older hotter 90nm GPU, despite having a shrunken 65nm CPU. I saw only one person online say they had a "30" board with the issue, but we don't know how many of these boards were made/sold, especially considering they kept making new revisions essentially every year. Does anyone have experience with lots of these boards of all different revisions, and which ones are more likely to have issues down the line, or if it's something I still need to be concerned about due to it still being a 6-layer board, and should I opt for a newer revision at some point?

I have an Xbox one s that I’m looking to sell (mods I’m not trying to sell it here I read the rules I promise) and put the money to a new switch 2 as I’m putting everything on switch or PC. The only reason I would keep it is halo and I can play it on PC so… I have a 4TB external drive with about 110 One and 360 games on it. Honestly don’t even know how I got them but I have them. That together with the controller and rechargeable batteries seems like a decent bundle, but I don’t know how likely it is that I’ll get a buyer.

One of my neighbors gave me this, and looking at it, I think it's a pretty old console? I looked it up, and Nintendo doesn't make Wii's anymore, and that's what it looks like. This was everything that came in the little bag he gave it to me in. I don't know much about consoles in general, so I know even less about older ones. I'm not really interested in playing with it, honestly, but I don't know what to do with it. Maybe I could sell it? I haven't even turned it on, nor do I really know how to, since holding/pressing the power button didn't work. Maybe it's dead, but I don't wanna try plugging in whatever looks right and accidentally break it. I've never really had a console before, so that explains my inexperience, lol.
Just posting on here to ask what to do with it, if I were to sell it how much it'd be worth (if it turns on), and whatnot. Again, this is everything (plus a little white bag with two metal L-shaped things inside and a smaller thing, idk, they're all black colored), I think it might be missing stuff, but I'm not sure.

Hi, new to the jailbreak thing here. Don't really get the hype, so writing this.
Could someone please clarify the following points?

1. What is the appeal of jailbreaking?
2. Does it mean if I jailbreak my console, I will be able to play ANY GAME that i find on different stores? Like Orbit, etc. (heard from tutorials)
3. If I jailbreak my console, should I not pull out the plug or even turn it off? Should it always be ON? (stupid question, I know)
4. As far as I know, the only disadvantage of jailbreaking is that online gaming is not possible. If I jailbreak, can I go back to the standard unjailbroken version at any time? Can I switch back and forth?
5. Can it ruin my console?
6. And finally, I have seen many posts with different file formats for games, like fpg, exfaT, etc. Is it possible to know in advance what file format will actually work for your console?

I am not trying to jailbreak my console right now, just curious how this works.

I dont know what to do, but I wanted to ask before I have to resort to a large repair bill. My PS5 isn't reading specifically FF7 Remake Intergrade and FF16 in the disc drive. I tried them on another PS5 and they read just fine. I put in some other discs I have and they read just fine, but the Final Fantasy just won't be read suddenly. Did anyone have an idea as to solving this dilemma?

I grew up playing PS1 and that made me become a gamer until today. I never had a console after a PS2.

My main machine is a gaming PC. But recently, I bought a couple of consoles for the living room to play with my daughter.

I bought a Wii but sold it because I needed money.

I got an xbox 360 which is pretty fun to play but I have the same games on my PC.

Now I got a PS3 but somehow I feel sad owning one. I didn't get the same joyful feeling when I had a Wii or the xbox 360.

Is it because the games are too mature compare to Nintendo games? Is the graphics of PS 2-3 era grungy for my taste? I don't know.

Between the cost of the console itself, online subscriptions, games and accessories, getting into gaming can be a pretty big investment nowadays.

At what point does it become too expensive for the average gamer? Or are the prices still justified by what you're getting?

Over the first eight months of 2026, Xbox hardware sales fell 33% year over year, while PlayStation sales dropped 25%.

At the same time, Sony's PS5 Pro has an official European recommended price of €899.99.

How much of this is due to rising hardware costs, and how much are higher prices affecting people's willingness to buy consoles?

My ps5 just arrived this morning and gosh I was so excited to open it. tbh i know it’s kinda late but im happy with it. Considering with the prices skyrocketing, i fear it might go out of stock next month, or worse they might raise the prices again:(

After seeing just how mad the PS5 jailbreak has gotten, I needed to say something I feel is very important:

I get why this was done, and why Sony need to be taught a lesson for their poor decisions and legal excuses. However, please don't forget that this WILL effect EVERY game dev in general, not just Sony.

If you absolutely must use it, test Sony games only. Buy all other games. Don't let this jailbreak single handedly destroy the games industry.

I just hope this isn't the beginning ot the end, because the way I'm seeing it right now, F2P games are going to lead the gaming industry due to ROI alone.
