Level 2 CE Level 2 Discussion - Study Plan, Exam Experience, and Outcomes

There are little to no recent posts or write-ups on Level 2 in this community and so I just wanted to start a discussion that can hopefully consolidate the sporadic information across this Reddit. If anyone has recently taken Level 2 within the past year PLEASE participate in this post. The Step 2 community is so helpful but let's be honest, while the content is 90% the same-- the two exams can be very different if you aren't prepared.

Follow this format:

Exam date: xxx

Level 2 score: xxx

Practice exams name/date/score: xx/xx/xx

Resources used: xxx

Comments/Advice: (eg, I only took Level 1 and this is how I prepared; I took Step 2 x many days before, this is how i tackled ethics questions, the biostats questions were most similar to xyz qbank, etc)

Side note: I wish Level 1 takers could specify they are taking Level 1 instead of referring to the exam as COMLEX, that would help keep things organized in this community. NBOME is not helpful either when they name the COMSAE forms the same numbers for Phase 1 and 2 SMH. Lets keep things more organized if possible so we can find helpful information.

How similar is the OMM COMAT to TrueLearn?

I’ve done almost all the TL questions (have 24 left). I’ve done really well on em (80%+ correct), I just wanna know if the COMAT is similar to the TL or not, I take it tomorrow. Haven’t looked at Dirty Med since COMLEX either, was gonna glance at it today.

Reschedule COMLEX level 1 retake or not?

Hi, I have been studying for my COMLEX level 1 retake since mid-september. Currently the retake is scheduled for next week. I was close to passing on my first attempt (roughly 375-380 based on AI & my school interpretation). I have taken all COMSAEs at least 2 times by now, except for 111 which I've taken once in June and got high 400s.

This time around I have integrated anki into my studying with TrueLearn (60th percentile/ 60-70% correct most blocks). I took TLSA level 1 and got 64th percentile 2 weeks ago. I took COMSAE 110 and got a 586 last week (360 on previous attempt), and took 115 today and got a 415 (373 on previous attempt). The last 2 practice exams, and the past few days I have felt confident, but today I felt anxious during the exam.

Should I reschedule or keep my date and take the exam? If I reschedule, what do you suggest to focus on?

I usually do average on pharm/ micro/ omm. Should I consider omm matchpal bootcamp or omt review qbank or just stick to my current plan?

Mock Interviews

Hey everyone I am doing call mock interviews for only ten an hour. I am a fourth year medixal student. We can do a deep dive on the most important questions you should be able to answer. I will also send you written feedback while giving it to you at the end of each question.

I am also willing to review personal statements, letters of intent, and more for free. I am trying to be affordable for people who are struggling.

Level 1 Am I dumb for not pushing back my retake exam in 8 days?

Retaking level 1 in 8 days.

Got two COMSAEs at 430-440 range WAY back earlier this year (can’t remember exact scores because it’s been like six months.)

Took COMSAE 107 yesterday… I got 420. Lmfao. Really really expected better. After months of studying again. Feel like I’ve forgotten so much.

Truelearn percentile is 33rd (55% correct) and 92% complete. Not sure if that’s inflated due to a lot of people going through it too early, and me going through it too late.

WelCOMs ive done four of them and they all are around 46 out of 75 (a little bit above 60%, national averages are about 64% i think). One was 39 out of 75 instead.

COMAT Has anyone used AMBOSS for COMATS?

I used uworld for my previous COMAT, and I’ve gotta say these COMATS are always really tough. Lately I’ve been using AMBOSS and I am curious if anyone has used it for COMAT prep. If so, do you feel like it helped?

Level 2 CE Level 2 retake

For those of you that were successful already in your retake (failed this year and passed this year), what did you do differently the second time around? What resources did you use? And did you feel the retake was better, worse, or the same as your initial test?

Level 1 Should I push back my retake a week?

I’m currently in two minds on if I should or shouldn’t push my exam back to next week. Currently have mine scheduled for the end of the week (4 days) or can try to push to next week (10ish days). I technically have till the end of the month for my retake I think.

Previously, for my first try did 70% of UWorld. Also did like 30% of TrueLearn last time with an average of 49%. My school requires amboss for retake and I’ve done like 50% of it with average of 67%. They had us do mock exams on amboss where my score went up from mid 50s (baseline) to high 60s (last week). Their requirement has been taking a lot of my time so I haven’t been able to do as much TrueLearn. Currently have 20% done with average of 65%. I can prob get to around 30-40% before my exam this week(if I chose to take it this week).

I also have read through the whole OMM green book and did the behind the chapter questions (probably like 200+ questions around 75% average) and like 100 of their online OMM qbank. I’ve also read through all of FA which I think really helped me a lot with the content.

AMBOSS Mock 1: mid 50s

AMBOSS Mock 2: low 60s

COMSAE (I’m not sure the number but school proctored a week and a half ago, I think it was 113 but idk): 406

AMBOSS Mock 3: low 60s

AMBOSS Mock 4: mid 60s

WelCOM 1: 72%

WelCOM 2: 72%

COMSAE 110 (this weekend): 467

I’ll probably take another COMSAE tmr or Tuesday.

I just can’t make up my mind about it. My family wants me to just take it this week so I don’t burn myself out and I’ll probably get the rest of the month off before I’m on rotations again. Part of me just wants to take it and get it over with but I’m worried I’ll regret not finish TrueLearn or something. Idk

Also don’t know if I should/ should have taken the TrueLearn Self Assessment or NBME or Free 120?

Ahh idk

Level 2 CE Level 2 retake, tutor/class recs needed

Need to retake level 2 by end of November, I'll have 6 weeks to study for it. I'm looking for either a tutoring service or a bootcamp/program to sign up for.

I need something that's structured or offers a study plan and some form of human interaction for tutoring and for accountability purposes. I've looked into different options but I'd love to hear people's first hand experience, especially if you've used a service for a retake. Extra points if you're someone that gets testing accommodations.

Also, my Q banks (Truelearn and Uworld) expired and I'm trying to decide on which one to sign up for so if anyone has insight on truelearn vs amboss vs whatever else is out there, I will take any advice I can get.

Background: I passed level 1 on my third try, passed my COMATs first try (average ~90), and got a 359 on level 2. While I'd rather not pay an arm and a leg for a tutor, I am in fact in panic mode and desperate so I will take all the help I can get :))

Level 1 Level 1 retake, GU and GI help?

Retaking level 1 in a couple of weeks. Any tips on what to focus on?

Also for GU what should I use as resources to look at because it tends to be my lowest section across practice Q’s, comsaes, and the comlex.

Also any tips for GI? It’s a hit or miss for me and dirty med doesn’t have that many GI videos

Edit: also do we need to know formulas like renal clearance for pharm and such?
