I prefer my Norwegian chocolate when I can get it. By comparison Hershey's tastes bland and unfulfilling. I've never considered it to taste like vomit tho. That's a new one

I think their basic milk chocolate has a weird chemical taste to it, idk how else to describe it. Thankfully there are sooo many other options

Its the butyric acid.

Kind of. Butyric acid is a result of the stabilized milk they use to allow hersheys to last in hot climates like the southern US.

It’s the butric acid

If you grew up eating Hershey’s, you’ll be used to it and it’s much less pronounced, but folks that didn’t try it until they were older kids or even adult say it tastes like vomit.

I only know because we had some German exchange students in my high school that were severely disappointed by Hershey’s products after they’d been hyped up by my classmates. A few had to spit out Hershey’s bar pieces from disgust.

I grew up with it, but it’s always tasted like vomit to me. I’ll eat it on a smore like once a year but that’s it. Oh and I do like the krackle ones, but that’s more about texture than taste.

Freia melkesjokolade is my childhood favorite. Much creamier and richer than a Hershey's bar

Hershey's is bad. Freia and kvikk lunsj are worse.

It literally does.  The milk stabilisation process they developed in the early 1900s creates butyric acid.  Which is the exact same chemical that gives vomit, rancid butter and parmesan cheese their taste.

It does.
