I prefer Milka, but the Hershey's weren't THAT bad.. I could see myself absentmindedly going through a bag.

Yes, I saw myself absentmindedly going through a bag. The bag just so happened to be yours.

At least you didn't buy it yourself!

You get used to the weird flavor. It only really tastes like vomit if you havent had it before. Otherwise you become kind of taste-blind to it.

It's called an acquired taste and only the most sophisticated of foods and flavors have them. Your palate must be unrefined.

/s in case it's not obvious.

I mean, that's basically wine in a nutshell. First try is just an extremely bitter and nauseating taste but it supposedly gets better as you get used to it.

It's the real Stockholm Syndrome, people tricking themselves into liking beer, wine and spirits.

Beer too. I still can't drink more than a few sips though. Actually most hard alcohol is also rough, but that's less of a taste thing because you can barely taste anything over the burn.

There is no need for /s. By definition there is no such thing as a bad spice. All tastes are acquired by the food you were raised on and tried. It's like saying there is objectively bad art, every flavor, tone, sight and experience suits a different audience, some are widely and easily loved others suit a more niche audience. As long as anyone in the world likes the taste of 1,000 year egg, durian or monkey brains (though popular in Cantonese cuisine) it's simply not a flavor you enjoy. There are many plants that specifically evolved an unpalatable painful and dangerous toxin known as capsaicin to avoid being eaten and humans cultivate them for mass consumption.

As they say, there is NO accounting for taste.

There is objectively bad art, though. And it's made by AI.

Cute, but pandering to populism. By definition any subjectively well trained ai model is indistinguishable from human made. It is only when a model fails that it can even be noticed and MANY human made art pieces are regularly decried as AI because humans make assumptions based on feelings far more than facts. You might as well have said "there is bad music and it's all this devil jazz/degenerate rock/fake electronic music".

If AI products couldn't be indistinguishable from authentic, then it would not be the existential threat that it is for creating false narrative, propaganda, deep fakes and manipulation. If you believe that you can separate one from the other without mistake then you are deluding yourself out of an moral pride reaction and are the most at risk of being manipulated. Don't underestimate it.

I invite you to try Malort and say that again. Their own marketing admits its horrible.

> Monkeys brains (though popular in Cantonese cuisine)

Oh my God is that what we ate?

To be fair that's how literally all alcohol works, and that's basically the foundation of all human society at this point.

Not in the modern day. Go to the dollar store and pick up a six pack of Mike's hard or Smirnoff ice or whatever processed drink that drowns the alcohol in so many flavors you don't taste shit. When you don't have to acquire the taste of wheat piss or rotten grapes, makes it way easier and more appealing for college kids to knock back dangerous quantities of the stuff.

Stockholm syndrome as a chocolate flavoring technique is wild.

It's in all Parmesan, can you taste it in Parmesan too?

tbh I think it tastes more like chalk, and I say this as someone who grew up eating them. Once I tasted european chocolate though, it was over. I could never eat hersheys again.

u/borgborgo 4h ago

I don't like European chocolate lol but I'm not big on chocolate anyway. I like the Hershey's nuggets with almonds or peanuts, and find most chocolates too fatty.

Hershey's is weird. It's not good, but I find myself easily nomming down an entire bar. Give me some high quality chocolate and I'll savor the flavor of a square or two and just be satisfied.

They lobbied to change "Milk Chocolate" into a flavor instead of ingredient. Let that sink in.

I don't like Milka. I tried it once and it literally almost killed me it was so bad.

Well it was either that or the fact that I'm horrifically allergic to hazelnuts.
