Makes me think about how some Americans claimed that they voted for trump because he the "more entertaining" candidate.

Those same Americans also watch cars drive in a circle for hours in hopes of seeing a crash, so... Yeah.

Before Trump ever became president there were 4chan users who said they'd vote for him because they just want everything to fall down.

My old boss voted for Trump because he wanted the government to stop functioning so he could stop paying taxes. He honestly felt that everything that he accomplished in life was solely do to his own hard work. You know, it's the same way cats think.

Libertarian ass?

Remember when Obama chided conservatives who thought that they did everything by themselves? My old boss was one of those that seemed to conveniently ignore the roads that we all pay for and the system of governance that provides a (sort of ) level playing field for business.

Society dies when we stop celebrating what we accomplish and build together. And when we start celebrating toxic individualism.

We all do better when we all do better. Sen Paul Wellstone.

I know people who were all “ he- he’s a big business man- give him a try” without realizing he was a big, horrible business man.

You don't want businessmen running a public service. It's like putting violent gang members in charge of a police department.

Oh...

My Grandfather actually believed he was a billionaire and I had to explain to him that the orange garbage was lying.

I can see how it could be about politics. But I'm also see how it could be about celebrities who we gave a second chance to. It's very open to interpretation and that's what I like about this a lot.

Browsers when you turn on private/incognito mode be like:

u/Productof2020 11h ago

What do you mean?

15

u/Jackviator 11h ago

All using a private mode does is making it so whatever websites you went to won't show up in your own search history. It doesn't stop Google or whatever other company from harvesting your data.

Oh, gotcha. Yeah, I never expected incognito mode to do anything other than 1) keep activity out of my search history, 2) prevent saving of new cookies, and 3) allow me to visit websites without them pulling from cookies or current logins in my non-incognito window (e.g. to see how something appears when not logged in - like whether a reddit comment in some stupid reddit argument has been removed or not, just to satisfy my curiosity)

Even if you never accepted a single cookie in your browser? And use different browsers for everything? And VPNs? And hide location data?

That's why I use Bing when incognito.

It's not about politics. It's about the Ninetails talking to his jinchuriki.

le epic trolling

Studies point out that trolling is psychopath behavior.

...

Really, it's just more advanced fascism compared to a century ago; fascism with gaslighting skills.

As someone who plays a lot of ttrpgs I can completely understand this given the mentality of some players. 'Hey guys I know I am a literal murder monster that eats baby souls but I have changed and am rather goofy now.' and then go all surprised pickachu face when said monster starts eating baby souls again.

Sigh. Someone get the site director on the phone.

Thanks, I hate it.

Edit: Can I just this kind of unintentionally touches on one of my hotbutton issues. We are worse than single celled pieces of our immune system at recognizing recurring threats just because they do the equivalent of moving a protein spike around a bit.

As a society, we have the survival instinct and threat recognition capacity of a rock.

It's about anything. It's acknowledging that there's something dark and destructive that needs to be quarantined from everything else and a slight slip could release it. It can be politics, it can be celebrity worship, it can be AI, affable people in power, your family, your own feelings. It's not one thing. It's evil that exists in everyone.

Also, it can just be goofy for the sake of being goofy.

Yeah... maybe the warning was there for a reason
