MCM Comic Con - London Quality of Life hacks for sharing a hotel room with two other people?

Twice a year, I go to MCM Comic Con in London with my friends. It's a great time, but due to the cost of hotels, we get a family room (a double bed and a single) and share it.

Are there any hacks that you can think of that make sharing a hotel room more comfortable? The only one I have is that I bring big bin bags from home and tie it on the bathroom door handle so that the rubbish doesn't pile up in that tiny office bin they give you. We're all cosplayers too, so luggage/accessories/outfits quickly make the room disorganised.

This is a Premier Inn, so there's no minifridge. They do provide a kettle and an iron.

One that has saved me has been to bring extra power strips and also an extra blanket, that way you have what you need and can be more flexible with whatever the bedding is in the room.

Eye mask and earplugs.

Most people never do but actually use the drawers in the room, you’re cosplaying so you probably would use the closet space, it is just easier to quickly go through clothes in drawers and a closet vs having to scrounge through a suitcase in a corner, it actually saves you time.  You can also assign each person a drawer and have them use that for anything they have out each night, it goes tucked in that drawer, that way all the counters/surfaces can be as clear as they can be.

If you can get a bag like one of those drawstring backpacks for cheap or a hanging toiletry bag, then hang them all up in the bathroom instead of stuff on the counters.

I’m an absolute slob but my friend and I cosplay some ridiculous stuff and have found these have saved us so much headache.

Extra power strips

Earplugs

and everyone bring their own portable mirror for makeup and such so you don't have to fight over the bathroom. My friend actually prefers to do hers in the hotel window with natural light anyway

I use a duffle bag meant for dance competitions. It has a shoe compartment in the bottom that’s great for props and a builtin clothing rack that folds up and stows in the bottom.

I put my cosplays in individual suit bags, I've found that it helps me cut down on the amount of small accessories I can't find when I'm getting ready. My suit bags even have the character names on them :D

Same but I use hanging dance bags. They have lots of extra pockets for accessories and makeup etc.

If you're cosplayers, the bathroom is going to be in huge demand. Work out a schedule for who showers when, and who does make-up when.

I've done this many times. To get a "Free" room when I'm running games 4 people share a room with 2 queen size beds. So, 2 to a bed with strangers you've never met before. At least you know everyone.

A tip we used at least once. Get an extra blanket on the bed. Person A sleeps under the first blanket. Person B sleeps on top of this blanket, then uses the spare blanket for on top of themselves.

Another thing we've done is one person brings a inflatable bed. They put that between the two other beds and sleeps there.

Other tips, everyone picks an area in the room, like a corner, or a chest or something. That's where all their stuff goes. No exception. Clothes, electronics, etc... all goes there. Bring an extension cord with multiple plugs and USB connections. Get an octopus USB plug... the one I have has 3 USB C and 1 USB for my iPhone. Bring a bag for your laundry. When you wear something toss it in there. Share USB and extension cord plugs if you need to. It's nice to be the homie that helps everyone. Find a spot to put your towel after a shower, this way you know what towel is yours. Bring your own shampoo and body wash. I bring one that's a 3 in one - body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. My wife asks if it works for toothpaste also. She may laugh, but 1 bottle is better than many!

I probably have more things I bring/do... let me know if you need more.

I mean, the homies are twins, so idk how that'll go down

inflatable matresses are cheap if it'll fit. hotel should have spare blankets. cooler can replace mini fridge for a day or two if needed. always check hotel rooms for bedbugs. it's a gross thing to think about but not as gross as if they get on your stuff. there are videos on youtube demonstrating how to correctly check.

My friends and I have shared rooms for over a decade. We usually book a double, one friend is highly allergic to stuff, so she sleeps on a camping cot. This works out for us pretty well. Hotels will give you extra bedding if you ask, sometime even hypoallergenic is available. We all have easy going attitudes, and we are pretty maximalist packers, so we bring everything. It’s somewhat haphazard in the room, but we are all like that so there isn’t one person who is a neat freak trapped with two slobs. One thing we do is bring a “Comicon Box” it’s a rolling toolbox that has a bunch of stuff you kinda want at a hotel, especially collectively, like coffee and tea supplies, paper towels, cups, trash bags, condiments, spare chargers, etc. If we needed it and didn’t have it and bought one, it goes in the box for the next time. However, being flexible, comradely and tolerant is perhaps the most important aspect of sharing a room.

Who snores?  Bring a Turkish towel for yourself. Packs down thin and dries quickly

Poop pouri! Explain how it works, demand it's use!
