Rhode Island Comic Con Rhode Island Comic Con 2025

Hello everyone, I’m from the state of Connecticut and as such, this would be my first time going to this comic con. I’m obviously very excited to dress up meet fellow cosplayers, and I am trying to hopefully get a picture with a celebrity. Having said that, my question is this: is it better to take the train to Rhode Island or to park? And is there anything I should know for my first time?

Doesn’t really make a difference for this show, I’d say whatever is most convenient and economical for you. The convention center and mall both have huge garages. Mall garage is a beat cheaper IIRC, and you can walk right through the mall itself and take the skywalk to the convention center. The train station is also right there though, 10 min or less walk.

My only concern with parking is if it gets super busy and well… There is no parking. Because like I said, this is my first time going, so my thought process was with events like this, parking for all I know could fill up quicker than you think.

Fair concern. I admittedly haven’t been in a few years, but have driven down from Boston with no issues in the past. The mall garage alone is truly massive. I think they actually let you reserve parking through the RICC website site too, but could be wrong. The train station is really convenient too though if you want to play it safe.

I was going to ask, what would everyone suggest in terms of getting there? Driving or taking the train

I drive in from NJ and use Spot Hero to reserve a spot in nearby garages. Haven’t had issues and I normally arrive 12-1.

Edit: Just saw you’re going on Saturday. I go on Fridays so take that as you will

I could always leave earlier. That’s what I was planning on probably doing anyway if I was driving.

Parking will 100% not be a concern. Between the mall and convention center parking, you will 100% find a spot I have never had this be a problem and I have lived here in Rhode Island my entire life and frequent Providence for major events such as RI ComicCon (been going for 8 years) and other major events like WWE, Sports, etc.

That actually helps mate, thank you. (Hearing it from someone who lives in Rhode Island). I did find a LAZ parking spot near the convention center too

I always drive down from Boston and park at the mall. Only had an issue last year but there were just a lot of factors going into that. If you get there early, you shouldn't have a problem finding parking. The mall has a ton of parking.

Good luck walking around the center if you’re going on Saturday

I don’t have much choice at this point. Saturday was probably the only day that I was able to get off for work.

As someone who has been to RICC, Anime Expo, Anime NYC, NYCC, etc. trust me, other cons are worse. RICC does have a bit of a bottle neck getting in from one area to the other but it is nowhere near Anime Expo, Anime NYC or NYCC.

Well good luck. Probably the worst experience I’ve had at a con due to its overcrowding. They oversell every year.

Cant be worse than nycc?

I’ve been going to NYCC for 10 years. It was way worse than NYCC cause that place is big and at least feels like it can fit all those people. RICC has had evacuations in the past due to overcrowding

I've taken the train to RICC several times. It's an easy walk to the convention center. I much prefer it to driving, coming from the Philly area.

Would everyone recommend taking the train or driving?
