Will Christian Bale remain the only live-action Batman to get a Trilogy of films or could Pattinson's Batman and the DCU break the 2 Movie Curse?

Assuming The Batman Part II is received well and is one of the highest grossing DC films, I see no reason why there wouldn’t be a third film with Robert Pattinson returning. People who think it’s going to end with Part II are making a lot of assumptions right now.

I don’t see a reality where James Gunn cancels any plans for a Part III. He very much views Matt Reeves as a valuable asset for DC Studios, and I don’t think he believes his universe is getting in the way of their DCU Batman plans.

Perhaps Matt Reeves is in a position where he doesn’t feel like he can return to direct a third film, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t want there to be a third film. He’s said before and relatively recently he can envision a trilogy of films. So him at least writing and producing the third film still sounds very likely.

I think the amount of leeway Gunn has afforded the development and production of Part II and his willingness to let it be its own thing is a good sign of how much he values this series. Like he's already had so many opportunities to pull the plug on it or bring on a new team who'll get it out faster

So long as a Part III or further spin offs remain realistically feasible I don't see many scenarios where Gunn cancels it all

Gunn isn’t going to last long enough for part 3 to come out.

He just isn’t successful enough of a film maker to pull it off.

Maybe because he would be 50 something.

So many actors who are 50+ take on action roles or play superheroes.

Oh really? Name one 50 plus YO actor that has taken on a role of a 20 something YO superhero.

Go ahead, I’ll wait.

50 something year old dudes don’t play 28 year old Bruce Wayne/Batman. Heck 40 something year old dudes shouldn’t play 28 year old Bruce Wayne/Batman.

There literally is no length the Reeves cult will go to convince themselves that everything about these movies is perfect and part 3 is going to happen.

It would take 8-10 years from now.

Never said anything about these movies being perfect. I don’t know why some of you get so hung up on the age thing though, actors play younger characters all the time. If that really dampens your enjoyment so much then I don’t know what to tell you. You don’t have to watch these movies.

As I suspected you can’t name a single one because you made it all up in your mind.

Nice diversion.

Well you edited your comment after I began writing a response so I didn’t even see that first part. I also never said a 50 year old often plays a character in their 20s. Robert Pattinson is 40 even though you keep talking about him being ten years older.

You obviously don’t like actors being older than their characters, that’s fine, it’s your opinion. I personally don’t really care how old a character’s age is meant to be in relation to the actor. It’s fine if you do, but stop trying to create arguments over nothing. I’m a random dude you don’t even know, there’s no reason for you to agree with me.

I said he would be 50 if a Batman Part 3 happens, I did not say he is 50 now.

Keaton came back at like 70 or something. This is one of the easiest roles for older actors when the stunt double also wears a mask.

Did Keaton look 25-28?

I think Pattinson could if they're able to get The Batman 3 into production in a reasonable amount of time. I don't think the new owners if Warner Bros with the debt they have and the commitment to a certain number of films a year will have patience to let one of their biggest franchises take 6 years between movies.

It will be dependent on how the Batman II does both critically and financially…and most importantly Matt Reeves’ health. Batman films are director driven projects. You can’t just get another director to make The Batman III. Reeves’ vision is in the DNA. It would be like if someone else other than Nolan did TDK after BB or TDKR after TDKR

DCU Batman probably won’t be director driven since it will be a part of a cinematic universe. That requires a more producer approach for the big picture. But so far the DCU is less producer driven than the MCU. (The DCEU was director driven too when it was Zack in charge)

I just hope Gunn allows for two Batmen. He’s been saying this but part of me hesitates as to how genuine he is about that

Technically Keaton has 3 films.

But not a trilogy of films…

If they ever decide to polish up and release Batgirl he could become the record holder.

Doubtful but not impossible.

I believe they're referring to The Flash (2023)

By that metric, Battfleck is technically in 3 movies - BvS, JL and Suicide Squa.

u/Undercover_Dave 1d ago

Technically he has 4, with Batgirl too. Too bad we'll never see it. 😔

So then right now he still has 3 films.

I don't think Robert Pattinson looks like a good Batman or Bruce Wayne. I love the Nolan/Bale movies, and have just rewatched them once again. I love them.

Having said that, Robert Pattinson's Batman movie is one of the most rewatchable for me of all of them. I honestly find myself wanting to put it on every time I see it as an option.

I really like it. A lot. If #2 is just as good or better than the first, like the Dark Knight was, it would be incredible.

The beautiful thing, though, is that we get to have them all. New versions or remakes don't mean the old ones cease to exist.

In answer to the question, though - if it makes money, they'll make a third. I suspect it will, and they will.

Nolan trilogy super overrated. Dark knight the only great one thanks too Heath ledger

I’ll do you one more and say the only great Batman movie is the 89 one with Keaton and Nicholson.

Ehh, batman begins was the best Batman movie when it was released.

In my recent rewatch, I was reminded that I don't think there are many movies that make the score do more heavy lifting than these. The music is a major factor in the quality.

Filming for the second one got paused last week. Even by some miracle if it gets back on schedule and keeps its already delayed release it’s slated for early 2028. I don’t see a third film happening. If it does hope for 2033 at the soonest.

Wait. Pattinson’s Batman is part of the Gunn DCU? I thought it was planned before the change? Well, I don’t look forward to him being part of the Justice League. I like him, just not as Batman.

1

u/arrownoir 10h ago

Affleck didn’t even get one.

1

u/AdaptedEvoSupe 7h ago

Looks like it. Pattinson’s is becoming the GTA VI of movies and Pattinson is getting to the point where he’s not even a young Batman anymore. DCU is in shambles and doesn’t seem to be on the right track

1

u/TerribleAntelope6134 1d ago

There's no way this series gets a third film.

-2

u/Witty-Jacket-9464 1d ago

U mean DCU, right?

0

u/TerribleAntelope6134 1d ago

No?

-2

u/Witty-Jacket-9464 1d ago

It's a weird because No way The Batman Part II will be the last Pattinson's movie because The Batman Saga js just too successful.

Ellison won't let the main actor of our time finish to play the most popular Skydance character. I mean, Part II is the only DC film, which will do $1B of this decade

4

u/TerribleAntelope6134 1d ago

I doubt it cracks a billion. The first one didn't. And don't say that was because of COVID. It came out after Spider-Man: No Way Home and a month before Top Gun: Maverick. COVID had nothing to do with it.

-3

u/Witty-Jacket-9464 1d ago

It will just because of inflation and Pattinson's popularity

1

u/Monster-Zero 1d ago

I think Pattinson has outright said he's not interested in another one

0

u/Low_life_high_lights 1d ago

Pat-man will get 3, without a doubt. Hopefully we all live long enough to see it.

Parce qu'il y a une suite à cette merde ?

-2

u/Turbulent-Spirit-568 1d ago

The DCU can't even get to the first movie let alone a trilogy.
