Production is pausing on the Warner Bros and DC Studios pic The Batman Part II due to director Matt Reeves stepping away for personal reasons.

The studio on Monday released a statement on the matter. “Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,” it said. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

Prior to the pause, filming had been underway in London. The film is set to bow on February 18, 2028. Sources say it is too early to say whether the stoppage will have an effect on the release date.

It’s a lie. Filming is still happening

That's really unfortunate. Sucks for Matt Reeves too, and I hope that him and his family are okay. The movie isn't beating the cursed allegations though. Regardless of how long it takes, you know that I'll be seated no matter what

at this point I have no hope of this movie ever coming out. Sucks because Pattinson is my favorite batman.

u/Fricktator 9d ago

Ive heard what it is from a few credible sources.

Im kind of surprised he hasnt handed the reigns over to someone else at this point.

u/Flottrooster 9d ago

That bad, huh? Regardless, his life is way more than Batman.

Man don’t come on here and act like you are an insider. Either spill it or keep it to yourself. Don’t play I got a secret.

What have you heard?

u/bluegryffin 7d ago

Im best friends with his son so I actually do know what it is. This guy is right, it's crazy how he hasn't resigned yet.

What allegations?

1

u/Flottrooster 8d ago

That the movie is cursed. It's been delayed so many times.

“The Batman: Part 2” is never getting made.

9

u/damndraper 9d ago

It's literally been getting made for the past few months, you dingus.

That’s awful! I hope the best for Matt and his family

Godspeed homie; take the time.

It’s time he hands over directing duties. The script is done, the schedule done, the crew ready and the talent.
The studio has been compassionate and patient, but now it’s time for a difficult decision.

Name a movie that got taken over by another director mid film and actually turned out good

2

u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago

It’s not mid film. And just scrap it at this point. The movie has been delayed for so long it doesn’t even matter anymore.

3

u/LetterheadFun5846 7d ago

Huh, scrap a film that’s over 50% shot with probably $100m+ already invested in it. A film that’s a sequel to a movie that grossed 800m during a bad box office year and was critically acclaimed. You’re real smart and that makes total sense, give me a break. People are acting like this is the only sequel to ever be released 5+ years after the first, there are plenty.

-1

u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago

How do you know it’s over 50%? You don’t. You are just making stuff up.

It did not gross $800M. Stop lying. Why lie about something that is so easily verifiable?

2022 wasn’t a bad year for movies. Movies made money. It is ridiculous to suggest otherwise. Again stop with the lying. Why lie about something that is so easily verifiable?

Avatar made $2.3B and set the box office record that stood until BND surpassed it this year.
Maverick $1.4B
Jurassic World Domination $1B
Dr Strange $960M
Minions $940M
Black Panther $859M
The Batman $772M
Love and Thunder $760

Spider-man made $1.9 billion in 2021

I’ll never understand the obsession the Reeves cult has with exaggerating and lying to try and make The Batman look better than it actually was.

Are we being serious here? I’m lying about the Batman making $800m? You’re acting like I’m making some outlandish comment, it made fucking 772, oh my bad I gave it a 27m increase wow, I’m lying, give me a break. It also was a bad year for movies….if you look at the worldwide gross for movies, 2022 was a very down year, so how is that ridiculous to suggest otherwise? Just cause a few movies made more money doesn’t change that. Also your showing me that the Batman was the 5th highest grossing movie of the year, when it was also the only movie to get announced to be on streaming in a month, a week into it being in theaters….Without any context, The Batman was still a success, with context it was a bit more of success, that’s a fact. Plus how do I know it’s over 50% done? Maybe because of the fact that it was supposed to film in June-December and it’s October…..You’re acting like I made some crazy outlandish comment and lied about a bunch of stuff, when everything I said is a verifiable fact, oh ig I increased its box office by 25m or whatever, sure that’s such a crazy lie. I don’t even think the Batman is that amazing it’s like an 8/10 I like begins and tdk better. You’re being ridiculous and got all up and arms about nothing…

Breaking news: Joss Whedon has been hired to replace Matt Reeves to finish production on The Batman: Part II /s

3

u/Kane_richards 7d ago

Joss Whedon has the potential here to do the worst thing in the world

Now is the time to make MY Batman movie:

  1. Call Wes Anderson. Wes is a master of vaguely frustrated characters going through a lot of life changes and ending with a sense of self-satisfying ennui. perfect for a Batman movie.
  2. Get back George Clooney. He's been batman before. It'll make the next bit more satisfying.
  3. Do Last Knight on Earth. A quippy, confused post-apocalyptic batman would suddenly become a clue as to his identity.
  4. Make the Omega Michael Keaton.
  5. Reveal the whole thing is an elseworlds epilogue to The Flash.
  6. Joker head should bring Jack Nicholson
  7. The whole soundtrack is done by Peter Gabriel.

But on a legit level, joking aside, I hope Matt Reeves family is ok.

This is peak

1

u/Whole-Lychee7517 9d ago

Wes Anderson? Whimsical offbeat Wes Anderson?

5

u/nachoiskerka 9d ago

The one who made a movie about a japanese island made of trash where dogs were sent to die because humans believed they carried a plague that would eradicate humanity as a scapegoat by corrupt politicians, yes.

2

u/Whole-Lychee7517 9d ago

Honestly, you make a great point.

6

u/nachoiskerka 9d ago

Fun fact: First time I saw that movie was a few months into the pandemic. Alone. It had hit streaming on Disney+ and I thought it was going to be like the Fantastic Mr. Fox movie.

...it was not.

4

u/Kris86dk 8d ago

This is basically a Zack Snyder situation when he stepped down from the justice league after losing Autumn...😞

-1

u/Jacowboy 2d ago

ehhh no, Snyder didn't step down, they used his family tragedy as an opportunity to step him down... But also, Reeves hasn't stepped down (yet) anyways, he's taking a break.

2

u/pr0t0cl0wn 6d ago

I thought the first one was a terribly boring slog and I still don’t understand what people liked about it, but I hope Reeves is ok!

1

u/DaddlerTheDalek 8d ago

I hope he and his family are okay.

1

u/Objective-Ad8534 8d ago

They are still filming

1

u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago

No they aren’t. Filming is paused

3

u/Objective-Ad8534 7d ago

It’s not
That’s just what the public is being told

0

u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago

Awe snap, we got a DCU insider on the board.

If true, that might work out for the best. Imagine the improvements they could make to this movie if Reeves isn’t there to jack things up with his “fresh take” on Batman.

1

u/grantnaps 6d ago

Seems to line up with the merger.

-1

u/Ok_Code_1691 8d ago

No one asked for this movie

0

u/LetterheadFun5846 8d ago

The 800 million box office during a really bad box office year and the critical acclaim say otherwise….

2

u/TheMoffisHere 8d ago

Correction: no one wants to wait more than 6 years for this movie.

3

u/dakowiml 8d ago

Nobody is sitting around and waiting for a movie. When a movie comes out it comes out. You want to see it? You go see it. You don't want to see it? You don't see it. It's really that simple.

3

u/TheMoffisHere 8d ago

Wrong. Many people wait for a movie. Even I’ve been waiting for this particular one, and I’m extremely sorry for whatever it is that Matt’s personal life problems are and hope he and his family are doing well.

That said, Matt is one person, and there’s like a gazillion people involved in the movie’s production, and many, many of them are locked under contract and uncertainty, hence unable to take on other projects. Not to mention how much it’ll affect the movie’s overall success, regardless of quality. Case in point: Thunderbolts*.

Granted, it’s batman. The movie is guaranteed a 700 million minimum, but even so; it has the potential for 1.5 billion.

2

u/ChuckDynasty17 7d ago

This movie isn’t going to make a billion dollars. It’s probably not going to do as well as the first one.
