logan is basically a western and i don't think it works any other way imo
they literally show shane in the middle of it and she says the line at the end. no portal, no team, no city blowing up. just a tired old guy, a car and a kid he didn't ask for. would the same ending hit if it was a normal x-men movie or was the western thing the whole point???

Alot of Superhero stories are basically “genre but with capes in it”. Heck, the portal-city-team up is basically a disaster-action movie and specifically Transformers Dark of the Moon

lmao dark of the moon is a deep cut. well winter soldier is basically just a spy movie. i feel like most of them still drop it at the end for the big fight tho, logan doesnt...

I feel a lot of directors pull from this genre. The Mandalorian had major Western overtones. It works well, especially when you have a lone ‘hero’.

yeahh mando is a good one actually, he gets stuck with a kid too lol. i think the lone guy thing is why the ending hits so hard, theres no team to cut away to
