With YouTube lectures, notes and recorded classes available, I'm curious how much people actually gain from attending college every day.

πŸ’¬ Discussion GJU HIsar Revaluation β€” Worth It or Just a Waste of Money?

Post image
3 Upvotes

GJU declared our 4th-semester results today, and I got a reappear again. Honestly, it feels like the university just wants us to keep paying fees for another chance to pass.

I paid β‚Ή1,200 for 2nd-semester revaluation but never got proper information about the result, then had to pay another β‚Ή800 for the reappear.

Should I apply for revaluation again, or is it just a waste of money? Anyone who applied for GJU revaluation, did your marks actually change?

πŸ“£ Social Life Papa ko mujh par trust nahi hai 😭

Yaar, aaj Papa mere hostel surprise checking ke liye aaye. Mere room se cigarette ki smell aa rahi thi kyunki mere doston ne pi thi, but main khud cigarette nahi peeta.

Papa ne mujhe bahut sunaya, bola ki agar yahi sab karna hai toh padhai chhod de. Mummy aur bhai ko bhi ghar par sunna pada.

Papa ne mere dost ko call kiya, aur usne bhi confirm kiya ki cigarette usne pi thi, maine nahi. Phir bhi Papa ko mujh par trust nahi hai. Unhe lagta hai ki main bhi unke saath peeta hoon.

Bhai, sabse zyada hurt is baat ka hai ki sach bolne aur proof hone ke baad bhi Papa mujh par believe nahi kar rahe. Ab guilt, sadness aur gussa sab ek saath ho raha hai.

Kisi ke saath aisa hua hai? How do you deal with parents who don't trust you even when you're telling the truth?

πŸ“£ Social Life College life is as dull as I expected it to be.

I got into this college near my area and I always had this fear that I can't make new friends as I'm not very extroverted but somehow managed to make 3 friends but two of them bonded with each other very well on their first day whereas I met them on my second day.

So the thing is that the third girl and I sit together but she's kinda annoying like snatching away my phone while I'm using it or asking me so many questions like kya kr rhi hai kya dekh ri hai idk but this annoys me sm bcs idk.

The other two girls, they are nice talks nicely to me but the thing is that whenever there is a teacher in class they ignore us like I have to initiate a Convo with them and when we are free they just go to the other row and talk to those boys and completely ignore us like we never existed ( not saying that they shouldn't talk to those boys like Obv we have to bond well with everyone but still talk to us aswell na ? ).

I feel very lonely in college I don't have any good friends irl my bestfriend ( she's in another college ) ignore my msgs, my online bestie completely ghosted me, I'm not able to bond well with anyone but can't do much about it.

πŸ“š Academic Life Are college tuition fees becoming too expensive for average Indian students?

I've been thinking about how expensive higher education has become in India.

Tuition fees are only one part of the cost. Students also have to manage hostel or PG rent, food, transportation, books, and other college expenses. For many families, paying for a degree can put a significant amount of financial pressure on the household.

What concerns me most is that students may have the ability and motivation to study but still struggle because of the cost.

I understand that colleges have operational expenses, but I think students deserve more transparency about fee increases, additional charges, and the financial support available to them.

I'm curious about other students' experiences:

  • Have your college fees increased significantly in recent years?
  • Do you think the education you're receiving is worth the amount you're paying?
  • Have scholarships, fee concessions, or education loans helped you manage the cost?

I'd love to hear different perspectives, especially from students attending private colleges in India. Are you facing the same problem, or has your college made education affordable?

πŸ’¬ Discussion Stuck in a Tier 3 college, zero friends, mental health tanking. Need brutal honesty on my 3 options.

Hey everyone,

I recently joined a tier-3 engineering college and honestly, it’s not clicking at all. The peer group, campus culture, and overall environment feel suffocating. I haven't made any friends because I genuinely can't find anyone on my wavelength or vibe. Walking into a place every day where you feel completely alienated is taking a massive toll on my mental health, and I'm honestly starting to feel depressed.

The only real logistical upside is that the campus is barely 15 minutes from my home. The catch? They enforce a strict 75% attendance criteria.

I’m currently staring at 3 paths and can’t make up my mind:

  • Option 1: Partial Drop (Prep while staying enrolled) Since commute time is essentially zero (15 mins away), I can show up strictly for the mandatory 75% attendance, sit in the back, and use every spare minute, evening, and weekend to prep for next year's entrance exams (JEE / CETs). Risk: Balancing strict college attendance and semester exams with entrance prep while already feeling mentally drained could lead to severe burnout.
  • Option 2: Full Drop (Drop out now to prep full-time) Pull out of college completely, remove the daily mental drain of going to a campus I hate, and prep full-time from home or a library. Risk: The pressure of a gap year, dealing with family expectations, and the isolation of studying solo with no safety net if the next attempt doesn't pan out.
  • Option 3: Stay put, disconnect emotionally, and grind skills solo Treat college strictly as an 8-to-3 job to get a degree. Stop looking for a vibe or community on campus, maintain a safe 7.5–8+ CGPA, and use the fact that I don't waste hours in traffic to focus entirely on self-learning (DSA, dev, building projects, off-campus prep). Find friends/community outside college instead. Risk: Spending the next 3.5 years in an environment I actively dislike, plus facing the brutal off-campus recruitment market from a tier-3 college.

Help me guys, this is taking a mental toll on me and I really need a solid advise :(

πŸ’¬ Discussion Honest advice needed: How should I learn DSA in C++ from basic to advanced as an average student?

β€’ Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m a 2nd-year B.Tech CSE student, and I want to start learning DSA seriously for internships and placements.

To be honest, I consider myself an average student. My maths is average, and I’m also quite lazy and struggle with consistency sometimes. I know I need to improve my discipline, and I genuinely want to work on it instead of wasting more time.

I have a few questions and would really appreciate honest advice from people who have already gone through this journey.

  1. Where should I learn DSA from scratch to an advanced level?

I’ve seen people recommend Striver’s A2Z DSA sheet, various YouTube playlists, and other courses. There are so many resources that I’m confused about which one to follow.

Which resource would you recommend if you were starting again as a beginner? I want to build strong fundamentals, understand the logic behind problems, and eventually become good at solving interview questions.

  1. Should I complete C++ first or learn it alongside DSA?

Suppose I want to do DSA using C++. Should I finish the entire C++ language before starting DSA, or is it better to learn the basics first (loops, functions, arrays, pointers, references, basic OOP, STL, etc.) and then start DSA while improving my C++ skills along the way?

I don’t want to waste months learning every detail of C++ before even beginning DSA, but I also don’t want weak programming fundamentals to become a problem later.

  1. How much time does it realistically take?

If I study consistently for 1–2 hours daily, how long might it take to become comfortable with DSA, solve problems independently, and reach an interview-ready level?

  1. What mistakes should I avoid?

If you were in your second year again, what would you do differently? Should I follow one course, solve problems daily, maintain notes, revise regularly, or do something else?

I’m not looking for shortcuts or fake motivation. I want practical advice from people who have actually learned DSA and used it for interviews or placements.

Please be honest, especially about the consistency required and what I should realistically expect as a beginner.

Thanks!

πŸ’¬ Discussion I don't like the newly joined guest faculty in my college

im a master's student. 3 new asst profs have joined and none of them have the skills to run a class properly πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ they literally read off of their notes and ppt like ok why am i even attending your class when i can simply do that on my own bruh and i can't even skip class because of 75% rule. i don't want to be harsh to them but im sorry they all suck. freshly graduated students who go on to become asst profs really need to get proper training on how to manage a class before taking up the job. simply reading from your notes isn't what makes you a teacher when you lack other skills.

πŸ“š Academic Life WHY IS IT SO HARD TO GET SURVEY RESPONSES FOR MY CLASS PROJECT

I’m losing my mind over this class project. I have to get 50 responses from dog owners and I’m barely at 10. None of my friends have dogs, and the ones who do either don’t finish it or forget about it. I’ve already sent it to every group chat I’m in, and even put it on my public Instagram story, but it feels like shouting into the void.

It’s honestly taking over my whole week. I keep thinking about it nonstop, and it’s making me dread the weekend because I know I won’t be able to relax with this hanging over me. I didn’t expect something so small to become this stressful, but here we are.

Is this just a normal college experience? Because I feel like I’m losing it. Any advice from people who’ve been through this would be amazing.

Hey everyone!

I'm currently pursuing BMRIT at Swaminarayan University, Gujarat, and I'm looking to connect with students pursuing Allied and Healthcare courses at other universities partnered with Apollo Hospitals.

Is anyone here studying in one of these colleges? I'd love to connect, hear about your experiences, and discuss clinical postings, hospital exposure, internships, and how the academic programmes work.

Feel free to comment or DM me! It would be great to connect with fellow allied healthcare students.

πŸ’¬ Discussion To the college guy out there...

Hey all, so I'm pursuing my B.Tech and currently in my 4th year.

Am working on my final year projects and the faculties who is in charge as a guide to our group is demanding the project to be published in their names, by names, yes, I mean them, two of their friends.

While it was we who contributed, made sacrifices, and spent money on almost the entire project, they are now demanding to put themselves as 1st, 2nd and 3rd authors while publishing and keeping us as mere "team members".

This is so outrageous.

I did some research and found out that it was absurdly normal in almost all 2nd to 3rd Tier Colleges across all over India.

Isn't it high time that we students should raise our voices and stop this hijacking once and for all?

It is us students who gets affected by such unethical acts... We won't be able to get acceptance from any major research studies since in the past we were just "team members" of a publication.

Please give me your thoughts.

For a bright future ahead.
