Idaho is the last state with no financial disclosure for lawmakers, and the Legislature wants more power on this November’s ballot.

Here’s how we got here.

Experience gift ideas for a couple in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area? ($100 budget)

I’m looking for Christmas gift ideas for my sister and her partner! I’d love to give them an experience or a date they can enjoy together rather than buying them physical things this year.

My budget is around $100 total for both of them, and I’m looking for ideas in the Spokane, WA / Coeur d’Alene, ID area.

Anything fun, unique, or memorable. Maybe a class, a creative activity, an interesting date night idea, an outdoor adventure, or something a little different from the usual dinner and a movie.

For those familiar with the area, what are some fun activities or experiences you’d recommend as a gift for a couple? Bonus points if you’ve personally tried it!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Looking for guy who sang Wondering Why karaoke at Iron Horse on Sunday

I made this post in the Spokane subreddit initially because that’s where the bar is, but the karaoke host said you’re in Idaho! You sang incredibly and we were sitting in booths across the room from one another but I was kinda to myself that night.

I went back a few Sundays hoping I’d run into you as I’d love to follow your music. You’re amazing.

I hope it’s not weird… but I voice recorded your version of Wondering Why by the Red Clay Straights and I genuinely think it’s better than the original which I didn’t think was possible.

I made some friends at the bar so maybe they can help me our if they run into you… or maybe the internet can do its thing :)

Anyone actually like their apartment?

I am moving from Post Falls to CDA. I am trying to avoid getting screwed by a rental company, but all I seem to find in the reviews for every single complex are serious complains about getting scammed, terrible management, etc.

So my question is... does anybody live in a complex they actually think is decent?

One option for us is the Northern apartments. Does anyone living there have feedback?

Question Where does one find good vintage stuff and rocks in CDA?

Post image
6 Upvotes

My boyfriend and I are visiting from out of town, and want to do some shopping while we are here. We are old souls, and we collect vinyl records, vintage lava/mcm lamps, and rocks. Where do we look for things like that?

We also adopted a beautiful bearded dragon from Rathdrum earlier this year, so we would also like to stop by any locally owned pet shops that might have things for reptiles.

Would I get profiled in CDA?

I'd like to visit as it seems like a beautiful city, but I've heard... things.

I believe I was profiled unfairly in North Carolina.

I'm not usually in anglo-majority places, so I wouldn't know. I have nothing at all against anglo-Americans.

But do y'all think I would get profiled in CDA? Thanks.

Question Theater Partner

M4F 33, Was wondering if any single women (26-35) would like to go to the theater in CdA or possibly Spokane. Can bring a female friend if that makes you more comfortable.

Was wanting to get out & experience more theater plays, like the Nutcracker or listen to a orchestra.

Question Looking for a 1BR/1BA rental in Coeur d’Alene or surrounding areas 🏠

Hi everyone! My partner and I are looking for a 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment, duplex, small house, or similar rental in the Coeur d’Alene area or surrounding communities.

We currently live in a studio and are looking for a little more space as we’re expecting our first baby. We’re not looking for anything fancy, just a clean, safe, comfortable place that we can call home.

A little about us:
• Both employed with stable, steady jobs
• Good/decent credit history
• Excellent rental history, we have never been late with rent
• Responsible, quiet tenants
• We have two indoor cats. They are very well behaved, quiet, and have always been indoor cats.

Our maximum budget is $1,500/month, and we are trying to stay within that because we’re also saving for our growing family.

We’re open to Coeur d’Alene, Post Falls, Hayden, Rathdrum, and potentially other nearby areas depending on the location.

If anyone knows of a private rental, upcoming vacancy, apartment, duplex, ADU, or landlord who may have something available, we would really appreciate any leads.

Thank you so much!

Best stargazing spots

Any suggestions for good dark, easy to get to (we have young kids) spots close to town? The field right behind our house used to be dark enough, but all the new developments have pretty much blocked out the stars.

Recommendations For Visitors

My boyfriend and I are staying near CDA next weekend for scarywood but we want to make the most of the weekend and do other things too. I've already searched this subreddit and got some good ideas, but I couldn't find a couple things in my search:

1) We are soccer fans and would love to watch the Sounders game on Saturday the 10th. Does anyone know a good brewery/pub that would be playing this game?

2) Any recommendations for food in general would be awesome

Thank you!!

Why is AIRBNB spending $23,000 on Idaho Republicans?

Post image
57 Upvotes

I've been spending my time unemployed working on a passion project that has me digging through Idaho's campaign finance data. I noticed a string of donations in the past year that I found interesting and decided to follow the money trail.

In the last 11 months, Airbnb has donated a total of $23,000 to Idaho politicians. Of the 31 recipients of those donations, all of them are Republican.

I also noticed all 29 state legislators they donated to voted yes on HB583.

HB583 was introduced on February 3rd, 2026 and signed into law six weeks later in March.

HB583 stripped Idaho cities and counties of nearly every tool they had to manage short-term rentals. Your town can no longer require a permit, cap how many homes on your street become Airbnbs, or require owners to live there, including rules McCall fought for and won in court. Mayors across Idaho warned it hands neighborhoods over to out-of-state rental platforms and makes it even harder for Idahoans to afford a home.

Sen. Tammy Nichols (Middleton) runs Nichols Premier Management, a property management company that advertises short-term rental management. Sen. Cindy Carlson (Riggins) rents out cabins at her ranch through Rustic Ranch Cabins, LLC. Both took Airbnb money, and both of their seats voted yes.

So I'm curious, for those of you with one or more vacation properties, how has HB583 been performing in your portfolio? The rest of us will be in the comments, splitting rent with roommates in our forties.
