It's a cool visual. You're literally seeing this place from a vantage point that you rarely get to.

Just because you may be traveling weekly and see these views all the time, people that aren't as fortunate are going to bask in the glory of this view because they may never see it again.

It must suck being so rich AND so miserable.

I travel weekly for work and it's still cool. This person is just being a dick.

yeah for real, if you fly all the time and still think it's cool, that just proves the first guy is just miserable by default

Seriously, tell me there’s any better view of London than flying into Heathrow over the Thames and seeing Tower Bridge, the Eye, Parliament etc in miniature!

Some people just feel the need to observe what people do so they can call it out. Rich or poor, some are just THAT miserable when their lives are so joyless and empty.

I’ve flown many times, but the sense of wonder I get from flying is still there. Looking out the window and seeing the ground get further and further away is still exciting to me. The whole process of air travel sucks, but the actual flying part is cool as hell.

I've taken hundreds of flights in my life.

If looking out an airplane window doesn't spark some childlike wonder within, then you are probably a miserable person.

seeing a plane window spark childlike wonder in someone is a pretty solid litmus test for whether their soul is still breathing

I'm scared of heights and I still get get a bit of the joy of the view. I bounce between terrified and anxious the whole time, but it's still something most people don't get to see everyday and i'd be remiss to not at least try and appreciate it for what it is.

Maybe the person has never been on a plane before, leave them be. 🤷‍♂️

fair point, but the comeback is specifically about the guy complaining from the same row, not the act of recording itself

Does he think travel vloggers are out there making videos with RED cinema cameras or something?

Aren’t all the rows in the same section the same price? Business class/ first class are obviously more but I thought all the rows in economy were usually the same

9

u/snowfloeckchen 1d ago

I think the upper class op isn't actually where you would sit if you had notable more income

10

u/Kiyoshi-Trustfund 1d ago

The point isn't that the row behind is cheaper or anything. The point is that they're both in the same section, meaning they're both "lower income" at a glance

Usually, sometimes they have like economy+ which gives extra leg room or extra for exit row because also extra leg room

3

u/BrainDue7166 1d ago

Yes, but this puts OOP in either the same section, or a section behind.

On top of being a dick.

For the most part. Sometimes there's an upcharge for seats in exit rows, seats with more leg space, even sometimes seats more towards the front - but it's unlikely that it's so significant a difference that it would distinguish between someone being "lower income" or not.

Sitting in economy isn't even a sign of being lower income. I know literal multi-millionaires that primarily fly coach.

Thats the point...

Depends on the flight. My mom and stepdad flew to a cruise for my stepsisters wedding. They were in Economy. The mother of the Bride was in First Class. Literally one row in front of them and the seats were identical she just paid a lot more.

1

u/beastmaster11 22h ago

Yeah that didn't happen.

u/jackfaire 21h ago

Cool. You don't exist. I can do it too.

I would love to know what airline offers a first class ticket but with identical seats and service as an economy class ticket

1

u/fuster93 4h ago

I'm also skeptical, especially given the first class part, but this is the closest I can imagine to what that commenter said: if you fly business class with certain airlines within Europe, you get an economy seat but the middle seat is unbookable so you never sit next to someone. You also get more leg room and better food. In that case you can be sitting economy behind someone in business class while their seat looks the same.

Of course there is the leg room and service aspect that is obviously better in business, but purely from a seat perspective you technically do have the same seat.

1

u/beastmaster11 4h ago

Thats actually what I thought happened too. My understanding is that this (unbookable middle seat) is "premium economy".

Also, other things that may not be seen is things like priority checkin and priority boarding.

But what's for sure is that it isnt "First Class"

Am awestruck every time I fly! I still record while flying. The clouds are magical.

6

u/BalfazarTheWise 1d ago

Doesn’t cost more money to be a row ahead lol

9

u/the_hair_of_aenarion 1d ago

Lower income, same ticket. Unless the guy taking pictures is still in his aldi uniform, rude guy shouldn't be assuming income ranges.

6

u/BrandMuffin 1d ago

It means they are at best on equal footing, or at worst, Mr. Smith was in a lower class seat. So not the flex Milo thought

2

u/UhIdontcareforAuburn 1d ago

Not necessarily in economy.

u/illiterateninja 1d ago

Because some people like cityscape/landscapes that you can only get from that elevation.

I call dibs on next repost.

I like seeing the flaps deploy. I'm always surprised how much deflection thry give.

1

u/HealthWealthFoodie 22h ago

I take so many photos out of the plane. You get to see landscapes from a very unique perspective, and even if you’re flying over the same area more than once the time of day and the weather can make it look completely different.

1

u/Terrible-pedigree 11h ago

I’ve flown my whole life and by all rights should find it pedestrian, however each and every time I get a thrill. Think about it we are living in a very small window of human history where we get the privilege to soar above the clouds. I will never tire of that.

Proving beyond a shadow-of-a-doubt that high altitude air travel can result in friction burns. Ask your stewardess for ointment.

Why are people responding to the original question, like OOP is here looking for answers?

u/No_Will_8732 1d ago

I got a seat in the second last row last time and it felt like a totally different experience.....all the different smells really fuse together to give something unforgettable...iykwim

u/Business_Annual_6673 1d ago

the mixing bowl of cheap perfume and airport fast food is a special kind of sensory assault

0

u/No_Will_8732 1d ago

I swear the flight crew also look at you differently in the back 🤧

0

u/caalger 1d ago

The back of the plane is not for the faint of heart. It's rough back there.
