How is this asshole so involved in our government….

He gets billions in contracts, he donates hundreds of millions to elections in order to gain political favor and more money

Not to mention he was in “charge” of DOGE which gutted tons of social services and oversight/regulations so that rich people can get richer….

67

u/ImportantToNote 22h ago

How is this asshole so involved I our government….

it might be something to do with donating $276m

14

u/WestleyThe 22h ago

Yeah it’s very obviously about money but it’s crazy one billionaire can have such an effect…

I suppose they usually are a little more behind the scenes but he has openly been gaining money and power in a way that is basically unprecedented but I suppose you can blame it also on the Un-President

5

u/TheBimpo 16h ago

He's getting billions and billions from contracts. He's "donating" small portions of it. They're taking tax dollars and using it to fund their own mis/disinformation campaigns.

4

u/dgdio 18h ago

People who have bought a tesla in the past 3 years are indifferent to democracy at best. At worst they are participating in destroying it.

10

u/pr0faka 21h ago

Your second paragraph answers the question in your first.

Exactly the same thing as AIPAC. Musk and Israel receive billions upon billions of dollars from US taxpayers and then they use millions of dollars to bribe our politicians and interfere with our elections. Our government, and it has been both sides, is complicit in using our tax dollars as a way to launder money into their own pockets and into their special interests.

1

u/Remote_Inflation6056 1h ago

the aipac comparison is dead on, it's the same exact playbook

1

u/parkerthegreatest 15h ago

I'm betting every rich person hates him but trump and a few others are acting like his friend

1

u/MemeArchivariusGodi 14h ago

My guess is corruption

71

u/The-Fox-King37 22h ago

That’s not even the most current figure. Just for the midterms it’s $366,000,000 and if you add the last election cycle, he’s spent $656,000,000

51

u/CriticalBasedTeacher 21h ago

But if we want to tax him more, Elon defenders come out of the woodwork "he might be a trillionaire but he's not liquid! It's not like he can just spend a trillion dollars, it's not like he can go get it out if the bank. You know nothing about economics!'

Yeah I know he can drop hundreds of millions to buy politicians with no issue.

23

u/The-Fox-King37 21h ago

To them I’d say: The value of my house isn’t a “realized gain” but I pay taxes on it every year. Explain how that’s any different…. They can’t but they sure will try

9

u/NZ_Nasus 17h ago

They can't say anything at the moment because Ukraine bombed the shit out of Russian data centres.

2

u/CriticalBasedTeacher 13h ago

/r/conservatives a ghost town right now lol

Bots, let’s not forget this. His bot army…

5

u/Zombatico 17h ago edited 16h ago

And to put it into perspective, Forbes estimates Musk's current wealth at $970B.

$656M is ~0.068% of his wealth.

You got $50,000? ~0.068% of that is $34. It's a single dinner at a sit-down restaurant. That's how much it "costs" Musk to buy democracy. It's practically nothing to him.

edit: Hell, let's go a step further and put some actual real life numbers to this. What would that be for the median net worth of Americans?

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/average-american-net-worth-620-121500111.html

As of 2024, median net worth in America is just $124,041, according to UBS. That's an astonishing five times lower than the average net worth of $620,654.

In fact, by this measure, America is only the 15th wealthiest country in the world, lagging behind Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Italy. By comparison, the U.S. is the second wealthiest country based on average wealth.

This immense gap between average and median wealth is a reflection of America's exceptionally high wealth inequality.

Median net worth is $124,041. ~0.068% is $84.35. For the median American, it's not even a full grocery run. It's a single modern AAA video game.

Elon is what Republicans think George Soros is, but real.

132

u/Friendly_Potatoey 22h ago

George Soros lives rent free in their head while Elon owns the whole building

48

u/SassyLocket_ 20h ago

Fr, calling out Soros while ignoring Musk spending hundreds of millions on politics is a pretty wild double standard

37

u/TehNudel 19h ago

If it weren't for double standards, Republicans wouldn't have any.

2

u/rnc_turbo 18h ago

Very sharp! Sounds like a Groucho quote?

29

u/Tasty-Initiall 22h ago

And they said “the left is bought by billionaires”

18

u/RollingDownhill303 21h ago

Those damned socialist billionaires!

36

u/Pretty-Slik 22h ago

When you have to buy democracy because you can’t win it fairly

8

u/pr0faka 22h ago

It tends to be that way, when what's good for you isn't good for the majority of people.

9

u/r_special_ 20h ago

At that point it’s no longer democracy

Guy who tells people to stop being poor just dropped $276M to buy politicians

23

u/SparkleHearrt 22h ago

He’s literally buying an election and calling it free speech

8

u/PetalSweett 22h ago

The guy they swore was fighting the elite IS the elite

4

u/reddituserask 19h ago

lol how is this the top comment? Just said the whole clever comeback with slightly different words.

3

u/treeswetfh 16h ago

Well there’s 5 bots in this thread including the top 3 comments. Reddit is overrun now and I’m not sure if people can’t tell or if it’s just other bots upvoting.
Edit- 7 bots

2

u/Dedotdub 16h ago

How can you tell? You seem certain and want to convince others. I’m genuinely interested in how you can be so sure. Share the secret. How can you tell?

4

u/Anticitizen-Zero 14h ago

So, all of the female avatar with feminine sounding names and extra letters are examples of bots in the same network and they all respond to each other. They’ll drop a one or two-liner, and the comments will basically respond in agreement and restate what’s being said. They’re all under 1 month old accounts, and are usually under 2 weeks.

Then there are the blank avatar adjective-noun accounts that join in on the responses, always making full lowercase comments in the same fashion. Only difference is the lowercase. Similar account ages.

These accounts will all leave some variation of the same comment, and some have even left the exact same comment.

They often appear on posts with botted upvotes that are made by karma farmers like OP, or, they’ll make their own posts and bot the upvotes and comments as well.

These aren’t the only types of bot accounts you can find here, but are the most prevalent types.

2

u/GuardianofM 16h ago

Most of the time bots post titles with posts that are almost word for word what the picture says just in a different order. Similar with comments. They don’t respond to questions or responses to their comments. They are only active on political or high traffic subreddits.

No one can be 100% certain, but if you look for the signs you can determine there’s tons of bots everywhere.

1

u/treeswetfh 15h ago

The order has changed now but they are all repeating the same thing and just rewording it. Check the account ages and they are all 7-8 days old and presumably in the same network.

1

u/Nah_Id__Win 14h ago

I would post the Key and Peele “High on Potenuse” gif but this sub doesn’t allow that

0

u/EvilBosom 19h ago

Omg thank you, it’s literally in the main post!

37

u/Taco_Taco_Kisses 22h ago

Every.... Single.... Thing.... And it's partially the Democrats fault for never pointing this out.

Whenever these goons wanna throw up George Soros, why can't they ever point out Musk, Thiel, Koch Brothers, Zuckerberg, the Winklevoss twins, and any other number of VERY rich people who inject billions of dollars into Republican coffers?

11

u/PristineMark2480 20h ago

Fear of losing rich people on the democrat side, politicians will remain politicians

6

u/kryonik 16h ago

They can point this out every day, it won't matter. 30% of this country is lost.

2

u/Taco_Taco_Kisses 14h ago

Fuck that 30%. I gave up on them a long time ago. They don't wanna be saved.

I'm more concerned with any impressionable independents who might be swayed by this talk

1

u/kryonik 14h ago

If just following the news hasn't made an impression on these people, then they're lost too.

1

u/Heavy_Law9880 13h ago

The nuh uh it was you or whataboutism rarely sways the public.

21

u/lostaccountby2fa 21h ago edited 19h ago

and that amount is literally loose couch change to him, enough to manipulate the entire country election. can you wrap your head around the wealth he has?

here is the actual calculation to really put it in to perspective

$434 million is roughly 0.045% of $966 billion. To someone making $100,000 is $44.93, about the cost of a nice dinner.

fucking mind-blowing.

3

u/stevez_86 17h ago

And to think, Obama and Romney had to committ to only using the public campaign finance fund or go with PAC money, which was uncouth at the time. It was that of finance on your own, which was still not acceptable.

Trump is the only candidate ever to have this unfettered access to wealth for a campaign.

4

u/r_special_ 20h ago

It’s like he dropped $20 into a donation bucket

4

3

u/vercetian 19h ago

Much, much less than that.

2

u/piazza22 17h ago

You can hardly get a nice dinner for that anymore 😞

1

u/I-hate-the-pats 15h ago

Is two burrito bowls and two sodas now considered a “nice dinner”?

8

u/trunksshinohara 18h ago

Well yeah. Every word out of a conservatives mouth is either a confession or projection.

6

u/gueri66 21h ago

When you look like Mike Wazowski, only money can help you.

3

All the Wazowski looks, none of the Wazowski charm.

This Nazi pedophile needs to go

2

2

u/Positive_Vibes_4228 17h ago

For $400 million you too can buy an election

2

u/vukesdukes 16h ago

Still a loser with no friends.

2

u/Gung_Honess 16h ago

A former Sorros Investments CFO is the current secretary of treasury. Why does the cult not care about that but love to parrot that all protesters are Sorros paid actors?

2

u/NoblePickle84 15h ago

Everything they say the other side is doing is exactly what they WANT or ARE doing.

It's always a long con with the GOP and MAGA.

2

u/Vakarian74 15h ago

Every accusation is a confession.

2

u/tuxalator 12h ago

Buy a Tesla, sponsor Pedo Don.

6

u/PristineMark2480 20h ago

But if this was a donation done by Soros or anyother person to the democrats they would never shut up and claim the almost sure crushing democrat victory for the House and Senate was because elections got rigged

2

u/TheDucktapeBandit2 17h ago

U know why elon said now ukraine has gone too far after striking those datacenters?? Cause it probebly costed like 100 million or more to buy those bots in russia, helping spread disinfo, most likely in promoting the republicans for the midterms. He paid in front, with no garantees.. And now no bots anymore. And now he limited starlink use for ukraine. And the us shares not much intel anymore, so missiles hit ukraine without warning.

These people need to loose everything... Go to prison.. what a traitors.

1

u/ImportantToNote 22h ago

"one of the"

?

1

u/buffalo171 17h ago

Every accusation is a confession

1

u/raem6911 16h ago

Yeah, more than Soros in my humble opinion. Probably doing what the orange turd is doing. Trying to stay out of jail if Democrats win enough seats.

1

u/Soberdonkey69 16h ago

Did he pay taxes on that money before he spent it?

1

u/GreyBeardEng 16h ago

With Republicans it's always projection.

1

u/Ok_Cockroach8063 16h ago

just say youve never heard of the man that broke the Bank of England

1

u/Morgannin09 16h ago

Remember that every accusation they make is just an excuse to permit themselves to do it. We think the Dems cheat so we can cheat harder.

1

u/friendly-sam 15h ago

shouldn't James Bond have taken care of him yet?

1

u/WebguyCanada 15h ago

Owning America at that price is still considered a bargain for most billionaires.

u/ThorKonnatZbv 14h ago

Every accusation is a confession and it's always projection

Round 4711815

1

Wait, I thought our trillionares are taxed too much?

I'm starting to think that was a lie.

I thought we may have needed to start a food drive for trillionares, but im second guessing myself.

1

u/KevJD 11h ago

He’s trying to avoid prison

1

u/Xiten 10h ago

Please let’s make it so that he wasted all that for nothing, thanks.

1

u/Tony-At-Large 5h ago

1

u/mosc47 5h ago

1

u/Due-Mouse7467 2h ago

He is the real immigrant problem

1

u/PinchedOffCatTurd 2h ago

When you literally have so much money, buying land, tangible assets, and lavish things doesn't even dent your wallet, the only thing left to buy are countries.

1

u/EddiewithHeartofGold 17h ago

Why are Americans still surprised about this? They let unlimited money into politics. Of course every rich person is going to use money to change things to favour him/her.

Their system is broken, they just can't get together to fix it.

-1

u/somerandomguy1984 17h ago

Right.

Can we at least admit that Soros does this as well?

0

u/SuspendeesNutz 18h ago

Well, not, uhh, (((everything)))

0

u/oritfx 17h ago

Ok but I like that he seems easy to draw. I think that if I was going to pick up drawing, Musk would be probably the easiest to draw.

-1

u/Source_Required 16h ago

-4

-6

u/Grand_Taste_8737 18h ago

Him and Soros are two peas in a pod.

5

u/Dedotdub 16h ago

Look it up. Soros isn’t even close to Musky.

-5

u/KingoftheWildlings 15h ago

Agreed. Soros is way worse and way more involved in manipulation & propaganda.

4

u/Dedotdub 15h ago

Such a clever little magat. Are you one of the smart ones? Did your own research and everything I bet.

0

u/KingoftheWildlings 14h ago

You know you’re right when they break out the elementary level insults. 😆

2

u/Dedotdub 12h ago

You know you're right when you have evidence to back it up.

Insults are all maga responds to. We've all heard your leader speak and seen you cheer.

0

u/KingoftheWildlings 12h ago

I think you might be unhinged and should take a break from the internet. Notice how you’re the only one bringing up maga right now. 🤪

2

u/Dedotdub 11h ago

You “people” need to come up with some new material.

1

u/KingoftheWildlings 11h ago

Okay bot

2

u/Dedotdub 11h ago

Pfft. That’s it? That’s all you got? I thought you were one of the smart ones.

Then again, maybe you are the cream of the crop.

-6

u/Front-Instance-5726 17h ago

Sure, but George Soros is definitely that too.

-9

u/Think_Election_2998 19h ago

3

u/Cheap_Search_6973 17h ago

Balancing the scales would mean you'd stop doing things like this

-44

Elon is a patriot. He is what every American should be. Hard working, god abiding family man. He gives so much to the country. How could we ever thank him enough.

20

u/femboyisbestboy 22h ago

He is the biggest welfare queen of America and is actively destroying democracy...

He had multiple wife's and kids prior to marriage.

Good to see the Russian bots are back in full force

-26

u/Kaztiell 22h ago

Classic libs, cant handle other opinions and think that people who don't share their opinions are sub humans. You guys are worse than the nazis. Cant have fair elections in this political climate. Thankfully Trump will declare martial law and save America before the mid terms.

I will pray that you fall in line

16

u/ConcentrateSad3064 22h ago

Is this a parody account? I can't really tell anymore

13

u/femboyisbestboy 22h ago

Might be Elon's own reddit account.

7

u/Ok_Smile_5908 20h ago

I was thinking a bot due to how over the top and lying about most basic common knowledge about Elon it is but at this point I think bots are probably more subtle than this.

9

u/femboyisbestboy 22h ago

You think I'm a liberal? That's funny as I am a conservative where I live, but that's in the civilised world.

Cant have fair elections in this political climate.

You know atleast you are speaking some truth it's just that Trump and the republican party are creating the political climate in America. They only control the house, senate, presidency and supreme court.

Martial law is not going to create a fair climate for elections as soldiers near voting stations will never do that Yandex user.

Worse than a nazi? I'm not following an ideology based on racial supremacy and extermination

-18

u/Kaztiell 22h ago

Martial law is to cancel the election. You should try to follow the politics you are talking about. Trump promised to end elections during his campaign. He won on that promise.

Funny you call me a bit but you are here trying to influence another country politics. People like you are always projecting

5

u/femboyisbestboy 22h ago

Imma call king George rq had he needs to hear this shit.

Can't believe Britain is going to win the revolutionary war after 250 with an amazing last minute clutch

3

u/cturtl808 21h ago

“I could call you all stupid and you would clap,” Donald Trump

2

u/asuds 18h ago

I thought the Yandex data center was out of commission? How cone this bot is still posting?

2

u/Cheap_Search_6973 17h ago

Why are you so upset that they stated facts?

6

u/asuds 18h ago

Do you mean an immigrant who violated his visa and should be deported?

4

u/Cheap_Search_6973 17h ago

Elon hasn't worked a day in his life

He's had multiple children with multiple women, one of the children he has openly stated is dead to him despite them being alive

He does the exact opposite of what god says

He hasn't given anything to the country
