i shifted to comet ai browser

lately i was able to finally upgrade a modern pc "mid" so i believe now the issue of lagging due to ram is past now

i am shifting back to chrome but how to import all data "history passwords ..etc" from comet to chrome?

not a tech lady so i tried to youtube it couldn't find anything but from any browser including chrome to comet not other way around as i need

Every time I update my Lenovo legion 6i my default browser seems to Yahoo even if I delete it before and afterward again. Typically I have to delete Yahoo and set my default browser back to Google Chrome each time. I'm not the most tech savvy so I'm not sure if I'm missing an easy solution or not. Any help is very appreciated 👍.

The Chrome/Chrome OS discard strategy is highly annoying. Will have only something like five tabs open and there is constant refreshing every ten minutes. Turning memory saver off doesn't work. Toggling "Is Discardable" / "Auto Discardable" doesn't work. Extensions focused on this problem no longer seem to work. There seems to be a wide gap in this department between two Duet models with similar amounts of memory and processing power; discarding seems particularly aggressive in one of these models (Duet CB 3).

It reminds me very much of Android's Doze Mode, which apparently thinks a smidge of battery life is worth sacrificing real-time background notifications that are the lifeblood of a mobile device. Google's nanny approach to its users to show some sort of marginal gain through automation is becoming more and more vexing and I don't imagine it will get better with the forced migration to Everything AI.

Rant done but tips appreciated on this specific aggravation.

hi, i haven't been using chrome as much so I don't know how recently this was added, but I'm guessing within a week or two. how in the world do i get rid of this annoying panel that shows up on the left side of the screen after you press enter after searching something? is there a flag I can disable or a setting? tab position is already horizonal, and i don't see any other setting to get rid of this.

out of nowhere, with no changes made to anything anywhere on my laptop or browser, suddenly i can't highlight text and drag them to place the text elsewhere, or drag youtube urls from the notifications to a new tab. i was able to do so all the time until just the other day, and nothing changed between the two days.

any idea what might be able to fix/explain this issue? already tried closing and reopening the browser and signing in and out of google accounts and those didn't change anything either. flags haven't been changed either, but which flags might be responsible for this behavior?

I’ve been trying to figure out the cause of my PC freezes for a while now, and after doing tons of tests, I think I have narrowed it down to definitely being a chrome issue. My PC never freezes until I open up chrome, but it’s not consistent, sometimes it crashes and sometimes it doesn’t.

I have removed every extension I have, and tried other things, to no fix. I really don’t want to switch to Edge or Opera or whatever, everything I do is on chrome, bookmarks, passwords, etc.

I am just looking for some recommendations of ways I can try to fix this, or if there are ways to migrate everything to a different browser so I don’t have to redo passwords and whatnot. Any fixes, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone! Out of boredom and scientific curiosity, I discovered a certain "phenomenon." By making the right tweak to the Chromium binary in the right place, it is possible to restore full support for Manifest V2 extensions. To this end, I’ve created a GitHub project:

I have already uploaded the first patched (and verified) build versions. You can also patch the build currently installed on your Linux distribution (tested on Arch Chromium 154.0.8037.97). If you need a different version, please open an issue on the project page and attach the output from python3 mv2ctl analyze /patch/to/you/chrome/binary. I can't promise immediate turnaround, but I will add requested versions to the project whenever possible.

Chrome updates frequently hide or test the removal of familiar navigation controls. If your Home button disappeared, you can restore it using either standard settings or Chrome flags.

Step 1: Turn the Homepage Toggle Back On

Tap the three vertical dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of Chrome.

Tap Settings.

Scroll down to Advanced and select Homepage.

Toggle the switch at the top to On.

Look for Toolbar shortcut (or Homepage, depending on your build version):

If you see Toolbar shortcut: Tap it, turn it On, and set it to Home page.

If you see Homepage: Tap it and toggle it On.

Step 2: Override Feature Flags (If the Setting Is Missing)

If the Homepage setting is missing or toggled on without the icon displaying, a Chrome flag experiment may have hidden it.

Type chrome://flags into the Chrome address bar and press Enter.

Search for Home Button or Home page in the search box at the top.

If you see Home Button Removal, change the dropdown setting to Disabled.

Tap Relaunch at the bottom of the screen to restart Chrome.

Alternative flags if the above doesn't appear:

Search for Adaptive toolbar button or Toolbar Button.

Set Adaptive toolbar button in top toolbar to Enabled - Home.

Tap Relaunch to restart Chrome.

Bonus Tip: Restore Missing Extended Screenshots

If you have lost your scroll/extended screenshot option:

Go to chrome://flags.

Search for disable-accelerated-2d-canvas.

Switch its state (toggle to Enabled if currently Disabled, or vice-versa).

Tap Relaunch.

I can't log in into my Instagram account now, because I just used to type "I" in my Chrome bar and it just sent me straight to my Instagram account logged in and everything. (i don't remember my Instagram password) But since I had to force shut down my PC, because it froze, now it doesn't do it that way. Maybe something to do with Chrome's cache? I managed to log in into almost all other websites no problem.

The reason I am posting this on Chrome is because I wanted to ask if there is specific Chrome way I can still access my Instagram account without having to log in similarly the way I used to? This happened maybe 25 days ago, something like that.

My laptop uses an Intel Core i9-14900HX. Under normal usage, such as browsing the web or using everyday applications, I frequently experience BSODs (Blue Screens of Death), application crashes or unexpected relaunches, and “Page Crashed” errors in browsers.

I searched YouTube and Reddit and found that some people suggested renaming the application executable (e.g., opera1.exe) as a potential fix. However, this did not work for me. I also ran several hardware diagnostic tools, and all of them reported that my hardware passed the tests, yet the issues persisted during normal use.

Some users also suggested replacing the RAM or CPU, although I am not sure how reliable their claims are. Personally, I think replacing the CPU might be a more plausible solution than replacing the RAM, but I cannot confirm that.

Recently, however, I found a workaround that has worked quite well for me. It has been over eight months since I applied it, and I have not experienced any of these issues during that time.

You can try using ThrottleStop or Process Lasso to see whether either tool helps resolve the problem. My suspicion is that the CPU may be boosting to excessively high frequencies under certain conditions, potentially contributing to system instability, especially when temperatures are high. However, I cannot confirm that this is the actual cause, since I have experienced these issues even when my CPU temperature was below 70°C.

Here is how I fixed the issue (for reference only)

Please note that these settings worked for my laptop, but I cannot guarantee that they will work for yours or that they will have no adverse effects on your system.

I used ThrottleStop:

• After installing and launching the application, check the Turn On / Turn Off control next to Options. Make sure that ThrottleStop is enabled (Turn On) so that your configured settings can take effect.
• Check the settings shown when you first open the application. You can use the screenshots I have attached below as a reference when configuring yours.
• Open the TPL window and configure the settings to match mine as closely as possible, using the screenshots for reference.
• Under Miscellaneous, you will see the value 52 in my screenshot. I recommend setting yours to 52 or lower rather than exceeding that value.

Again, these are just the settings that worked for me. Please proceed with caution, as the optimal configuration may vary depending on your laptop and CPU.

i keep using tumblr and various social media sites to do stuff i consider personally repugnant. i require assistance in making sure i never go on those sites again.

Every 2-3 weeks, chrome decides to fuck itself and delete all my extensions, themes, all the tabs, the profiles I had created.

Its a billion dollar organisation which can't even fix this bug. Only solution to this (from the threads I've read) are to completely reinstall the OS.

I'm tired of reading everything all the fucking time. and I don't want to reinstall my OS. I've already tried uninstalling, removing all left over files and reinstalling but that doesn't help one bit.

Every time I open chrome it's like I'm playing russian roulette.

Is there even a fix for this which doesn't involve OS reinstallation?

I dont know if its happening to everyone but my "manage windows" tab is missing and I just noticed yesterday. I can open the windows by minimizing my phones apps but I can access it through the tab. I also cant access "inactive tabs" anyway to fix this or is it a bug?

Whenever I overshoot slightly when reaching something near the tab strip -- like the goddamn back button! -- the tab expands and covers the thing I'm trying to click on. It's super annoying, and could be easily fixed with a hover delay, like it's done in Edge.

And yes, I know Chrome has flags, but they have no effect -- the browser simply ignores them.

I personally never use the Google search box on the homepage, so I was wondering if Chrome should let us remove it, along with the other stuff, to make the homepage look cleaner.
