We are an Australian company who exhibited at Makuhari Messe. It was much cheaper to go to IKEA and get furniture than rent it out. About 40,000 yen cheaper. We have the following items for free if anyone can pickup.

We had a charity organised to pickup but they cannot now.

Items include.

3x 67cm fold up tables.

1 X 79cm bar table

3 X bar stools

1 X shelving unit.

Pickup is only available between 5-7pm at the exhibition centre at Makuhari Messe. Please message me if you are keen. Don't want to through it out.

Hey everyone,

I’m 35m from the UK, and have been living by the coast in Ichinomiya Chiba for about a year and a half now. I’m just looking to make some friends hopefully. If it helps, i enjoy keeping active (be it running weight lifting), going for coffee, meeting creatives and just enjoying a good conversation.

If anyone is looking for some friends and lives in Chiba too please feel free to respond to this post.

Thank you!

Greetings!

My wife and I have found a potential home near Yachiyodai Station and wanted to know what the culture and residential life was like in Chiba. We have lived in Yokohama for a year, about 4 years in the states and 3 years in Okinawa. We have two large dogs, 25kg and 30kg.

Hoping to meeting some international/expat or English proficient friends in the area as most of our friends live in Tokyo.

My wife and I are in our early 30s, we like to travel, take walks with our dogs, read, cook, board games and video games. Her Japanese is native, mine is not even N5 (I'm working on it)

If anyone has some insight to share for a young couple thinking of moving to Chiba, we would love to hear it!

I’m looking for housekeeper recommendations that service around Chiba. And if you could let me know how much you pay as well, I would appreciate it.

What happens on sports day? I am an international student. Is there anything fun i can participate in?

Went to the Makuhari Bluegrass Fest. It's very very small, but enjoyable. It's also happening today at 11am to the afternoon. Easy 10 min walk from JR Makuhari station or Kesei Makuhari. There's a little food too. Free to listen to music, enjoy the nice weather.

Hi there, I'm a Japanese resident, I live in Chiba. I'm simply looking to make friends. I've been here for 6years now and don't know anyone. If anyone is looking for some friends please respond to this message. Have a great day! ☀️

Hi everyone!
I’m a mom living in Kashiwa, Chiba with my almost 2-year-old son. I’m hoping to meet other moms nearby and hopefully make some friends for both me and my son 🥹

I’m pretty introverted and a little shy at first, so making new friends has always been a bit difficult for me 😅

I’d love to meet other moms who are also looking for someone to casually hang out with, go to parks or indoor play areas, grab coffee or food, and just talk about life and motherhood.

Please comment or send me a message !

Hi everyone! First of all, its been really tough on Chiba this year and I hope things will be better for the remainder of the year.

I initially wanted to visit Chiba (hit Disneyland area and then drive around or train around the Boso area) in mid to late October but with the recent damages from the typhoon, I started reconsidering this plan. The main reasons are of course not wanting to be an inconvenience during the recovery stages post-floods, but also because I am unsure of the roads and rails situations as I know some rail services are still suspended and some roads might still be impassable.

So I thought I would ask the people of Chiba, do you think it would be advisable to continue with the trip? And if yes but there are areas I should avoid, that would be really helpful as well!

Thanks for your time and take care!

Is everyone in Chiba okay?

My family's truck was totaled.

🎣 Hi everyone!

I’m from Lithuania and I’ll be staying around Narita from the end of September until the end of October. I love fishing and would really like to experience fishing in Japan with some local anglers!

I don’t have my own rod or fishing gear, but I’m happy to help with anything and I’m eager to learn. I know a few basic fishing knots as well.

I barely speak Japanese, but I speak English fluently.

I’ll have a medical internship in the mornings on weekdays, so I’m mostly available in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

If anyone is planning to go fishing around Narita during that time and wouldn’t mind taking me along, I’d really appreciate it! I’m happy to contribute to fuel and other expenses. 🎣🇱🇹🇯🇵

Visiting Tateyama (coastal city in Chiba Prefecture) in late November. It is the town my grandmother is from.

Any tips? Lunch spot? Bike rental/walking paths? Anything special to see? Shops?

We are staying at Hanashibuki for one night.

Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’ve been living in Matsudo (Chiba) for a while now, but I don't really know anyone in the area. I was wondering if there are any other Spanish speakers around here—or even Japanese locals or other foreigners who speak Spanish or are currently studying it.

I’d love to meet people and make friends to do things around Matsudo.

My name is Balles and I’m from Barcelona; I’m 38 years old. I enjoy sports, karaoke, video games, and anime 😝.

Just sharing in case anyone around Chiba is interested — a local nonprofit in Asumigaoka offers free Japanese lessons for foreigners.

Thursdays 10:00–12:00 and Sundays 15:00–17:00, near Toke Station.

I attached the flyer with the details.

Our family was very close to a Japanese lady who lived in Matsudo City, Chiba Prefecture. She was introduced to my grandfather and he would go visit her whenever he visited Japan in the 70s and 80s. She became very close to my mother as well, writing letters and staying in touch up until 2002 when my mother invited her to my brother's wedding in India and she wrote a letter saying she couldn't make it. After that, we lost touch with her.

My mother and I are planning to visit Japan in October and she remembered that her old friend lived there and wants to visit her. The problem is we don't know if she lives in the same house or even if she is alive. She never married and we don't have her phone number (she said she didn't have a cell phone because she couldn't understand tech back in 2002) but we have her address from the correspondences. She would now be close to 80 (her exact age is unknown). We have photos of her from my grandparents visits to Japan in the 80s

We were wondering if anyone local to Matsudo City could help us with this. My mom would very much want to see her again.

Edit: I removed her name from the post on the suggestion of one of the comments since it is a no-no culturally.

Have you got questions about living in or visiting Chiba Prefecture? Here's your chance.

Be nice and only answer if you can provide useful information.

Hi, I'd earlier posted here under u/democratsabroadjapan and this is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those in and around Chiba. Democrats Abroad is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters; if you're over 18 by November 3, here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad in Japan. Thanks for reading!

You guys Okay?

Up here in Noda and Nagareyama Cities, we're at Level 2 advisory.

Take care on your way home. Just north of Shimizu Park in Noda City, low-lying spots on the streets are shin-deep.

I live in nyc but why don't you guys start doing the snorkels for the intakes of your cars. Flooding is wild, but intakes on the roof would get you through and not hydro lock the motor. Wish the best of luck in the bad weather.
