CB bug showcase: Sword into Axe PG detection
As many of you are already aware, the sword into axe GP has actually worse PG detection than guarding normally, making it almost always an inferior choice. I made this video in order to compare the two and showcase a bit of this bug.
I think it's really weird they didn't address it during the base game's dev cycle, but honestly even if they did and fixed the detection PGs would still be superior due to being less risky while offering the same benefits. At least we could use GPs if we wanted to without feeling like we are deliberately choosing the worse option ๐
From what we have seen in the TGS footage, this bug has not been fixed in Ascendance so far, so if you want to report this or any other thing so they can make GPs a bit more relevant, make sure to hit the contact form!

First Timing CB
Spent some time in the training area and then hoped on Day Of Ruin to try it out and got done in by teo. It feels heavier than GS like every attack animation is a full on commitment. Am I doing something wrong and is there anything I have to change and improve. (Gameplay is the link)

Humbling asking a question about the Charge Blade
Pardon me if I am asking a silly question...
I have been playing MHGU and then MHR:S with Switch 2 console recently while waiting for the MHWilds release on 4th Dec this year. I main SnS in MHGU and MHR:S. I tried few other weapons as well but I would still go back to SnS when facing end game monsters.
People said that charge blade is a better version of SnS. They said CB is a very safe weapon with good dps like a better version of SnS. So I tried CB and Swaxe (the morphing brothers) together, but I feel CB is so clunky for me, especially in axe mode. I don't even understand how safe I can be when I dish out damage in savage axe mode, and SAED take years to commit.
I feel I can understand Swaxe more than CB. With dodge or counter while attacking, Swaxe is kinda like long sword but with its morphing ability in between axe & sword mode freely, it allows you to adapt and stay aggressive in different situations, even though a slight mistake can cart you.
So as compared to high-risk-high-reward weapon like swaxe, I still prefer SnS is because of its flexibility. I can never be so safe when using SnS. I can backstep, dodge or perfect guard at anytime and my uptime is good for dps. I heard CB is this kind of weapon but I don't get that.
Many videos regarding the beginner's guide for CB are just talking about the technical points of phials & Shield/Sword/Axe management. The complexity of CB is not a problem for me, but I want to know is the weapon's philosophy of CB...
If CB is truly a safe weapon like SnS, what is the concept of being safe, especially when I am in axe mode?
EDIT: I still want to learn this weapon whether it works like SnS or not, please tell me your tricks~~

MHWilds new player
I came from World, just need some clarifications because I dont seem to be able to find it in the in game weapons guide, and/or from my short 2-hour trying things out session:
1. To go into savage axe, I notice there are 2 ways (maybe more, please help to mention): perfect guard then Y (or triangle). Another is focus mode then RB (R1). (S)AED>LT(L2) doesnt work anymore i guess?
2. Savage axe now doesnt consume phials? How long does it stay up?
3. Perfect guard: do I need to time it, or can i just hold guard and it will trigger? Because i notice sometimes after i guard, i can trigger the aed, but sometimes not, is it because of the perfect guard timing, or is it just because of knockback?

Thoughts on the build?
I finally rolled gogmacopalypse and lord's soul on both of my CB and came up with this build, now the question is, should i keep it this way or using dahaad Pieces instead of nu udra and arkveld ones?
If u have any tip on the build i'll be happy to read them :)
Thank you
Ps: the talisman has load shells 2, artillery 1 and earplugs 1

Holy crap this weapon is awesome
I'm a sword and shield/switch axe main and I figured why not give charge blade a go recently, see if I like it. Man I was missing out, this weapon feels so fun to use. I always knew that the difficulty of it was mainly hyperbole but it really is quite simple once you get the basics down pat. I know the wilds iteration is different than what came before, and I'm nowhere near good with it, but man it's a blast and hitting those SAEDs is a dopamine rush like no other. Can't wait for all the additions ascendence brings

Found the Charge Blade
I main switch axe in mhw iceborne and feels like axe mode got a lot better in dlc than base game but difficulty spike is a lot so I had a hard time dodging rolling and shit so I got no enough time to combo the monster only zsd with mantles at the option so I changed to lance it's good guarding power guard can block pretty much every attack but I miss the axe man imagine an axe with a shield I thought. And I remembered there's an axe with a shield it's THE CHARGE BLADE. So I picked it . Shit is so smooth with this transition and guarding are so much fun than lance. Well I main switch axe before so weapon morphing are my favourite and I'm pretty familiar with the monster attacks and patterns. Now I'm in love with the charge blade. No wonder everyone likes CB. What a fun weap to play

Hundreds of hours and still havenโt figured out a decent way to deal with Lagiacusโs explosion with CB. Perfect guarding makes me bounce three times away, with insane chip damage and stamina loss, while dodging back two three times ends up with fucking up my positioning, losing the weak spot, or getting caught by the random additional aoes.
What the hell is the proper way ti deal with it?
Also I need to check if this is right cause I didnโt find a guide about it:
If I got his mechanic correctly he charges up five (?) times with each explosion, after each charge the aoe gets bigger and his IQ gets higher, his moves gain more moves and in general he hits harder. After the fifth charge his torso becomes a weak spot for a few instant, if you focus attack it and then hit the torso enough he topples and loses all the charges and becomes stupid again. Am I correct?

About EDI and EDII
Do these 2 attacks scale well with impact phial builds?
I'm assuming AED > AEDF loop is still the way to go with both phial type (?), but I wanted to have a bit more info and know how they compare to the bread and butter combo.
I played the weapon much more lately but never asked myself this, thanks in advance!

Artian rolling
I'm trying to make an artian charge blade with the lightning element and an impact phial, my build mostly revolves around dealing damage in savage axe mode with the occasional saed, what rolls should I prioritize when reinforcing and when I eventually upgrade it to gog, what skills are recommended?
(I have been made aware that having a lightning element impact phial artian is impossible so what status element does everyone like to use instead?)

What are some of the advanced Chargeblade moves?
And I don't mean SAED cancel into AED or basic Guardpoints
I want to know about moves/techniques that don't show up in topright corner when playing
The recent two that I've seen were:
- Hitstop cancel
When you perform your axe swings you can time it as soon as you hit the monster, hit B (or circle on PS) to completely cancel out the hitstop
This allows to get into SAED's even quicker from the full combo
- SAED cancel into GP
It was actually shown on this sub recently!
After guarding when you perform the SAED you can time a morph to axe to get a second guardpoint, although it has a very small window
I've tried it a bunch of times and what helps is as soon as you hit the Y+B to start the SAED start holding RT, then you can time the Y hit more easily without the risk of going into a morph slash
What are some other lesser known techniques that an average player would possibly never find out about?
If you could also say how to achieve them I'd appreciate it

Holding down for extra chainsaw damage?!
Okay. If my research is correct, although holding down the button during savage axe helps add damage in both risebreak and wilds this does not apply to worldborne?
Also anybody able to tell me the best way to insure I go into savage every time? Some times it doesnโt activate for me and Iโm pretty sure Iโm hitting L2 at the same time each time? I hit it immediately after hitting triangle+circle. Thanks fellow chargers!
