We got a beautiful little white kitten a few years ago. We thought he was a he. He became Cirrus Kevin Joe Verga. At 6 months, right about the time we were scheduling his neuter, I realized that Cirrus' balls were missing. Cirrus Kevin Joe Verga, as I'm sure you guessed, was a girl. Cirrus morphed into cir-bear, then cirberbus, cirbeboos, and eventually became Beeboos. She now gets called anything from boobertoots, beebootonkis, beeboosaurus, to Beebidict Cumberboos. She only goes by her legal name when she's in trouble.

Fig is on all the paperwork but she has been Bean since she was small, and the full government name only comes out when she is on the counter. Her brother is Wallace, which is already too formal for a cat who yells at the rain.
9
u/justathrowaway736592 10h ago
Hey man the rain had it comin
4
u/notthelindsayyouknow 7h ago
Right, somebody had to tell it. Wallace takes that responsibility very seriously.

I asked my vet if my kittens name was out of band. They told me they have pedigree dogs that cost thousands of dollars and have 5 generations of lineage named 'Molly'. And then 'I found this chaos goblin in the trash. His name is Lord Fluffy McFluffface, third Esquire of the Land of Dump'.

I must know the story behind his name being Mosquito Valentine, if you desire to share
3
u/heimdaall 9h ago
First of all I didn’t pick the name 😂 he came with it
He was adopted from an independent rescue and the guy named all his cats after Doug characters. We were initially interested in him just cause his name was so ridiculous, and once we met him we knew he was comin home with us! But we couldn’t agree on a new name so Skeeter stuck. It’s grown on me

u/Flyinqfoxes 10h ago

My old man cat Luigi has received several nick names.
He used to have a high pitched meow that sounded like “nooo” so we started calling him Luigi snow (bastard name from GOT). He has also been called: Luigifer, Wigi (sounds like wee-gee), wigi woo, woo woo, wigi wooster, Wooster, petty boy (believe me he’s earned this), pretty boy (his favorite), and awkward boy (also very much earned).

So my first cat ever I got from a shelter. His name when I picked him out was Moon. I was chatting with the guy as I was finalizing the adoption and I said like hey that’s a cute name Moon was his owner an old hippie or something? He said ma’am when this cat came in here his name was Poon and I said you can’t have a cat named that he’ll never get adopted so I picked something real close to it so it doesn’t confuse him. That was many years ago. Now he goes by Moon, Moonman, Mooner, Moonboy, Mr. Boy, Mr. Moon etc lol

Not a kitty but my biy bunny was rescued and he came with the name Nibbles. We usually give our pets "people" names but he responded to it so we decided not to change it.
However, we call him other things more often. Usually he us "Sir" but when he sounds extra grumpy we call him "Mr Gurr d'Angry" because he makes lots of grunting noises at us and gets upset when we "steal his stuff" which is actually clean the bathroom deposits or "steal" his dish to fill it with food.
